Elis
Elis is a very talented Gothic Metal Band from Lichtenstein  with a brand new album that  moves into melodic, romantic and progressive paths. Due to their latest release Behind The Veil interviewed Sabine(vocals).

BTV: Hello Sabine you will soon release your new album “Dark clouds in a perfect sky”, can you tell me with your own words what have changed since your previous release?
SAB: Musically I can say that this time we are moving into more metal direction, we have heavier solos, harder drums and our songs are more complex than the previous time.
BTV: How about the sound of the new album? What are the new elements the fans must notice in the new album.
SAB: In Dark Clouds in A perfect sky, Elis are following Metal Paths  We have heavier guitar solos, keyboard solos and electronic sound effects.
BTV: How about the concept of “Dark Clouds in a perfect sky”? Is it a concept album or there are some songs with common elements?
SAB: It’s not a whole concept album, but all the lyrics of the songs tell us that everything in life has two sides. There are good sides and bad sides in everything. Sometimes you are Depressed, some times you are happy. Sometimes you feel angry and sometimes you feel calm. I think life is that way, It would be boring if we were happy all the time.
BTV: Can you tell me something about the cover artwork?
SAB: In the cover you can see dark clouds that means melancholy, but in the center of the picture there is the image of a butterfly, which is very beautiful colored with blue. But in its wings you can see a needle that represents that this butterfly is not perfect. Generally it’s the meaning of the whole album.
BTV: What is your favourite song from this album and why?
SAB: That’s a difficult question, each song is unique and I can say that every day I like a different song.
BTV: Which is your favourite song for today then (laughs)?
SAB: I like Anger (track 2), not because I feel angry (laughs)!
BTV: How long did it take you for the songwritting and the mixing in the studios?
SAB: It took us almost half a year. We started last February and in late April we went to the studios. There we spent 2-3 weeks which we made the final recordings and mixing.
BTV: What are your inspirations to write music? Are you doing the whole stuff or do the other members participate in the songwritting as well?
SAB: I want to wake people’s feelings. I want to make them feel something when they listen to our music. Almost everybody participates in the songwritting. We work very well as a band and there is very good communication between us.
BTV: If you had a crystal ball and you could see people in colors . What color would you see for yourself, for the band and why?
SAB: For me I would choose something between Green and Blue and for the band Orange. The reason is that the guys had their photo sessions in Orange backgrounds and if fitted very well. I choose Blue and Green because there are relaxing colors.
BTV: I suppose that you chose them, because you need relaxation after the whole work.
SAB: (laugs), yes, I cant deny that (laughs)!
BTV: Do you have any spare time for hobbies? If yes what do you usually do?
SAB: I have a day job, so there is no much time for hobbies. I like to play Volleyball if I find some spare time. Of course listening to music and songwritting are also my hobbies.
BTV: Are you planning any live appearances? Will we see you playing here?
SAB: We will be touring with Atrocity and Leave’s Eyes, I think that we will come and play in Greece later on.
BTV: Sabine Thank you very much for the interview, I hope to see you in Greece, send my greetings to Liv Christine from Leave’s Eyes.
SAB: Okay! Thank you very much Costas.
