Enthrallment is a band
that know what they want and which their aims are. So, with slow and careful
steps they tryt o biuld a career in the extreme sound of brutal death metal.
Where they come from? Bulgaria...and this fact sets their goal and their
achievements even higher, cause it's not an easy task to create a worlwide
name in a country without a famous music industry...
1.FIRST OF ALL, POINT OUT THE MOST

Chris: First one big "HI" to your readers.
I don't like this question, but..... The band was formed in 1998 and the
idea is only one - to play brutal and technical Death Metal. This is our
favourite style. From first line-up at this moment in our band play only
Ivo (drums) and me (guitars) . We changed some voices and special bass
players and at this moment they are Plam (voice) and Lachez (bass). We
have two releases - "The Scarlet Difference" (2000) and "Burning Fields"
(2001) and also we have one split EP with swedish band Relentless. The
great for us is , that all the bulgarian musical medias street Enthrallment
like the most popular and extreme band in our area.
2.TELL US ABOUT YOUR BAND NAME. DO
YOU WANT TO SUGGEST THAT YOUR MUSIC IS AND CAN BE ENTHRALLING TO ALL DEATH
METAL FANS? DO YOU THINK THAT THE BAND'S NAME SHOULD BE ALSO USED AS A
MUSIC INDICATOR?

Chris: We are fans of the US band SUFFOCATION
and the name is from their song "Torn In To Enthrallment". Yes, our band
name is perfect bill of our music and ideas. This is not Mortification,
Suffocation and all with "ation", but we wish to work with this name. We
have some friends from Germany with this name and maybe soon we will have
show with them. Present you...... Today X . X. 2003 will play Enthrallment
(Bulgaria) and Enthrallment (Germany) :-)))))
3.YOU ARE CURRENTLY IN THE RECORDING
PROCESS OF YOUR CD. TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT, ABOUT ITS MUSICAL DIRECTION
AND ITS GENERAL SOUND. WHERE ARE YOU RECORDING IT AND WHO IS THE PRODUCER?

Chris: The first material is self produced,
but at this moment Butchery Music Co pays everything and we are free only
to record. The studio is "Max Sound" Studio and this is one of great studios
in Bulgaria. Yes, this is not Morisound studio, but maybe one day we will
record and in a better studio outside Bulgaria. Maybe in Greece?
4.NAME YOUR PREVIOUS RELEASES AND TELL
US IN WHICH
WAYS HAS YOUR SOUND CHANGED AND
EVOLVED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS? WHICH ELEMENTS IN YOUR MUSIC HAVE STAYED
THE SAME?

Chris: on our first material we are
typical US Death / Grind band. Very speed drums, gutural voice and fast
guitars. On next album "Burning Fields" we experiment with our sound and
compositions and o n last product and we, and the fans listen brutal, but
and very melodic Death Metal. I think that our real sound is between this
to albums.
5.WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE BULGARIAN
METAL SCENE? WHY DO YOU THINK THIS SCENE IS NOT THAT FAMOUS ABROAD? ARE
THERE ANY BANDS THAT YOU FEEL CAN ACHIEVE SOMETHING IN THE FUTURE?

Chris: Very interesting question !!!
So, in Bulgaria we have a small scene, but very good bands. The problems
are three. The first is general. 99% of our bands think that if they have
shows in Sofia for example, they are "stars" and they live with this thought.
This is mania. And what? These bands live 1 - 2 years and after this.....
the band is rip. This is stupid for me. We know very good what is to work
day by day, step by step and maybe for this we are 6 years there and we
kill with our music. The second problem is the fucking BG economics. The
fans don't have money to buy original audio or video products and if one
buys a CD, 10 friends copy this on CDR's or cassettes. The labels out of
Bulgaria don't have interest from our market and day by day, some labels
stand out of this bussines. I remember how many fans see the official report
from Cannibal Corpse and for their two shows in your area, but they had
no money for travel, tickets and other. The last problem is from bulgarian
labels. There have 4 biggest companies and maybe only our label Butchery
Music Co street and sell products of bulgarian bands out of our country.
The other labels have work only in our territory and their bands stand
popular only here. I know that BM negotiates with other three bulgarian
bands and maybe soon you will listen for them.
6.YOU ALSO PARTICIPATED IN A COMPILATION
CD. HOW WAS IT ARRANGED AND WITH WHAT CRITERIA DID YOU CHOOSE WHICH SONG
OF YOURS WOULD REPRESENT YOU? IN WHICH WAYS DO YOU THINK COMPILATIONS HELP
THE NEWCOMERS?

Chris: The compilations help us for
this, that through them some fans listen our music. We concentrate to arange
songs in CD compilation from magazines. When one fan buys a copy of this
issue and sees an interview or review, he will wish to listen to it and
the compilation is for it. Our label pay some money for songs on comps,
but we have on our collections only 4 or 5 (Brutallica, Cacafonia, ..)

8.WHICH ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
WILL YOU DO ANY LIVE SHOWS OR TOUR WITH OTHER BANDS?

Chris: Yes, we will have two shows
in August. The first is in Bitula (Macedonia) with 4 support bands. After
this, we will travel to Belgrade (Yugoslavia) on HellHammer Fest Open Air
and there we will play with Ancient, Graveworm, Hypnos, Fleshless and others.
When we return in Bulgaria, we will start our recording session for our
new album. Today I talked with one of my good friend from UK band Gorerotted
and maybe we will have shows with them as well. They signed with Metal
Blade and will wait to see their future plans about it.
9.YOU BELONG TO THE DEATH METAL GENRE.
SO, WHAT DO YOU FIND SO APPEALING IN THIS MUSIC? NAME SOME OF YOUR MOST
BELOVED BANDS AND ALBUMS.

Chris: By our music we represent the
real live. Look the Pop or Dance clips. On them everything is pink. But
you know that this is not real live and we open the next "black" page of
it. About our favourite bands.....hmmmm........ Dying Fetus, old Cannibal
Corpse (with Chris Barnes), Suffocation, Deeds Of Flesh, Pyrexia (first
album), ...... they are tons.
10.WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE THAT
IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR MUSIC TO INTRIGUE HIS INTEREST? WHICH IS YOUR
MOST RECOGNIZABLE ELEMENT?

Chris: Personally, I wish to be on
Thailand. I saw some films about this country and I wish to be there. I
have a friend who have seen the Bankog's airport and he told me more about
their country.
