Godmachine
Godmachine is a Greek band
that managed to create a unique, original and multi dimensioned release.
A release that many will envy and even more will adore! This may sound
as an exaggeration, but believe me it's not! Expect the unexpected!!! This
is the lesson we should all learn from Godmachine...
1.HELLO! MY CONGRATULATIONS FOR YOUR INCREDIBLE
MINI CD!!! HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO RECORD IT? ARE YOU SATISFIED BY
THE FINAL RESULT OR IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO CHANGE?
It took us 5 days in the studio to complete
the recordings, but if we take remixing and mastering into account then
it took as almost a month. We wouldn't change anything important on the
songs, but we'd like to have a clearer mind and perspective (we were too
tired) that partly resulted into our performance.
2.SINCE YOU ARE A NEW BAND, PLEASE GIVE US A FEW
INFO ON YOUR HISTORY AND PRESENT THE CURRENT LINE UP.
The band was created by Chris Bouroutzis and
John Simeonidis in June 2002. In November 2002 Savvas Manoloukos joined
the band on bass and in February 2003 Billy Vourvouris joined the band
on lead guitar. In December 2003 Savvas left and in March 2004 Nick Tsiabalis
became Godmachine's bassist ,and thats the line-up until now.
3.I READ IN YOUR BIO THAT CHRIS BOUROUTZIS WAS
A MEMBER OF THE WELL KNOWN GREEK BAND CROSSOVER. WHY DID HE LEAVE? HOW
ARE HIS RELATIONS WITH THE OTHER CROSSOVER MEMBERS? HAVE YOU RECORDED ANYTHING
WITH THEM?
You got it all mixed. It wasn't Chris Bouroutzis
the one in Crossover. It was me behind the drum kit and the member that
left from us was our bassist, Savvas, who departed for personal reasons.
As for our relations with Crossover they are good.
4.HAVE THE OTHER MUSICANS THAT PARTICIPATE IN
GODMACHINE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER BANDS OR IS THIS THEIR FIRST TRY OUT?
No, I used to have quite many bands in the
past, Nick Tsiabalis played in some heavy metal bands, this is the first
band for Vasilis and Chris used to jam with some bands before. That's all...
5.ONE MORE X-CROSSOVER MEMBER WAS ALSO IN THE
BAND'S LINE UP. WHO WAS HE AND WHY DID HE LEAVE? HOW EASY WAS IT FOR YOU
TO FIND A NEW BASSIST?
It was an easy task to find a bass player
and Nick bonded well and quickly with the rest of the band. As for the
reasons why Savvas left, it's personal.
6.IN 2003 YOU RELEASED A PROMO CD. ARE ANY OF
THOSE SONGS INCLUDED IN THIS MINI CD? IF YES, HAVE YOU ALTERED THEM AT
ALL OR DID YOU LEAVE THEM AS THEY WERE?
"Devil On Your Shoulder" was the only song
that we re-recorded from our previous promo, because it had a shitty production
and we decided to do it all over again because we are fond of this track.
There is also one more track on that promo that we only play on our live
shows. It's called "In My Time Of Dying".
7.YOUR MINI CD "GODMACHINE" IS A SELF FINANCED
RELEASE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DO THAT INSTEAD OF CREATING ANOTHER DEMO
OR SEARCHING FOR A LABEL TO SIGN WITH?
We are in a search of a label to distribute
this mini cd and release our next full length album . As for the labels
generally you shoudln't trust any of them, because all they are after is
to make money from your work...
8.HAVE YOU SENT THE MINI CD TO OTHER ZINES, MAGAZINES
OR LABELS? ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK YOU GOT THIS FAR? DID YOU
HAVE ANY PROPOSALS FROM LABELS?
We've sent promo material to many zines and
labels, from which we expect to receive answers soon to value their offers
properly and decide with which we will sign.
9.THE PRODUCTION IS 100% PROFESSIONAL AND HAS
NOTHING TO ENVY FROM THE GREAT PRODUCTIONS OF THE WELL KNOWN STUDIOS. HOW
DID YOU ACHIEVE THIS AND WHERE WAS THE ALBUM RECORDED?
The cd was recorded at Rocksound Studios in
Thessaloniki and for the whole production and process responsible are George
Bringos and Godmachine.
10.DID YOU NAME THE BAND GODMACHINE FROM THE NEVERMORE'S
SONG? WHICH BANDS HAVE INFLUENCED YOUR STYLE?
No, the name came out naturally and accidentally,
as for the bands we listen to, we are all into thrash and classic heavy
metal. This is how this musical amalgam occurs.
11.THE COVER PAINTING IS VERY NIGHTMAR-ISH. WHO
CREATED IT AND HOW IS IT CONNECTED TO THE MUSIC AND LYRICS?
Responsible for the whole artwork is Chris
Karietis of Magbox and it is related to our moniker.
12.NOW, TELL ME A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE LYRICS.
WHICH IS THE THEME OF EACH SONG INCLUDED HERE?
All the lryics were written by Chris Bouroutzis.
There aren't many things I can tell you about them.
13.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? THINGS
ARE DIFFICULT FOR GREEK BANDS TO BOOK LIVES AND SHOW THEIR TALENT. AND
IT'S EVEN MORE DIFFICULT TO BE ACCEPTED BY THE GREEK AUDIENCE, WHICH SEEMS
TO ADMIRE ONLY BANDS FROM ABORAD. WHICH ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTRE? WHAT
DO YOU HAVE TO COMMENT ON THAT AND WHAT WILL YOU DO ABOUT IT?
Yes, we have many plans for live shows, because
we want to promote our work. We are under negotiation at the very moment
for quite some lives that will take place from September on and we will
play in all they ask as to. Our next step will be the full length album
which will be ready and come out around Christmas.
14.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT
BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
15.WHICH FAMOUS MUSICIAN WOULD YOU LIKE TO PARTICIPATE
IN YOUR ALBUM? WHY?
James Hetfield, because he is THE fucking
frontman!!!
16.WHICH IS, ACCORDING TO YOU, THE BEST AND MOST
CHARACTERISTIC PART OF YOUR MUSIC AND WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU NEED FURTHER
IMPROVEMENT?
The power and the straight forward feeling
that comes out from our music. These are elements that should exist in
music generally.
17.THANK YOU! LEAVE YOUR MESSAGE...
Listen to our work not because you will listen
to one more band from Greece, but because this band bled to make this album
possible and above all stay heavy and angry and start supporting the Greek
bands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
