Haterush
Haterush is an excellent band that plays a great mixture of power with 80s classic heavy metal. Their compositions are catchy, but above all they stick to your mind and like they say in the interview below, you could compare it to a rush of adrenaline that ovewhelms you when you are excited about something in your life!

1. HELLO, SOME TIME HAS PASSED SINCE YOU‘VE RELEASED “MARK OF THE WARRIOR” SO YOU MUST BE QUITE OBJECTIVE ABOUT IT. CAN YOU TELL ME IF YOU ARE STILL SATISFIED WITH IT? DOES THIS FIRST WORK REPRESENT YOU AS MUSICIANS OR IS IT SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE?
We always look ahead instead of glancing into the past. But we were satisfied with the album at the time it was made. We think it really explains what Haterush will sound like when it comes to songwriting and also representative for us as musicians.
2. THE MUSIC YOU PLAY IS QUIET SUCCESSFUL IN THE COUNTRIES OF NORTHERN EUROPE AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO SIGN WITH A GREEK LABEL THAT IS FAR FROM THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN EUROPE? ARE YOU STILL SATISFIED WITH YOUR COOPERATION WITH BLACK LOTUS?
We sent out promos to a lot of record companies and Black Lotus seemed to be able to market and support us in the best way. And they also were interested in a long-term relationship. Now, after one year they have really worked their guts out for us, so we really appreciate their effort! In Sweden it's almost impossible to get a record deal unless you're into mainstream music.
3. HOW DID YOU CHOOSE HATERUSH AS A BAND NAME? DOES IT PERHAPS IN WAY DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC? IF YES, I CAN UNDERSTAND THE WORD RUSH, CAUSE YOUR MUSIC IS QUIET SPEEDY, BUT I CAN’T FIND ANY HATRED THERE…
Well, we made a list of hundreds of possible band names and the one we decided to go with was Haterush. The word "hate" might seem a little bit too harsh since we don't play death/angry-metal music, but combined with the word "rush" it describes the adrenaline-kick from the music as well.
4. WHEN SHOULD WE WAIT FOR YOUR NEW ALBUM? HOW DIFFERENT WILL IT BE FROM YOUR DEBUT RELEASE? CAN YOU GIVE US ANY TRACK TITLES OR THE TITLE OF THE ALBUM? WILL YOU RELEASE IT FROM BLACK LOTUS AGAIN?
It should be out some time during early spring 2006. We think that the songs are better produced when it comes to arrangements this time but you will recognize Haterush, that's for sure. When it comes to titles and album title we choose to keep that as a surprise until the release date. Since we are signed with Black Lotus for the next album as well it will of course be released under Black Lotus label.
5. TELL US IN A FEW WORDS THE STORY BEHIND EACH SONG INCLUDED IN YOUR DEBUT ALBUM. I’D LIKE TO KNOW IN SPECIFIC ABOUT THE TRACK “SILVER BULLET”, WHICH TALKS ABOUT WEREWOLVES. AM I RIGHT? IS IT BASED ON THE HORROR MOVIE THAT HAS THE SAME TITLE?
SILVER BULLET is not related to the movie but it's about werewolves but also a submeaning related to your own demons inside.
HOLD ON is simply about holding on to what you think is meaningful to yourself in life and not letting anyone push you down no matter what.
DYING TO SURRENDER is just a fantasy song about a warrior that is fed up with his life as some kind of hired gun.
SOLITUDE SOLUTION is about low self esteem but if there's a will there's a way.
TITANS WILL FALL is another fantasy track about earth being conquered by giant warriors spreading fear and death to the world. But where there are villains there's a hero.
GUIDING STAR contains the fantasy story about warriors fighting evil.
SEA OF LOVE is about different aspects when it comes to love.
WARRIOR is about an everyday warrior that lives inside us.
I WILL SURVIVE is about getting stuck in your everyday routines and that you need to recognize it and do what you need to do before it's too late.
FACE THE EVIL is about getting rid of old stuff from your past that still stick to you mind.
RISE is about someone who has been through all kinds of struggles in life one can imagine but still believes in a future.
FLY OR DIE doing what you want to do is to do what you must do.
6. SOMETHING THAT I ALWAYS ASK A NEW BAND IS THEIR INFLUENCES. SO CAN YOU TELL US WHICH BANDS HAVE INFLUENCED YOU AND NAME 5 OF YOUR ALL TIME FAVORITE METAL ALBUMS?
We all have different backgrounds ranging from Deep Purple to At The Gates etc etc. So naming 5 all time favorite albums is a pretty tough thing to do. But here are a few examples anyway: Back in black (AC/DC), Made in Japan (Deep Purple), Painkiller (Judas Priest), Chaosphere (Meshuggah)...
7. WHICH IS THE BEST COMPLIMENT YOU HAVE LISTENED TO ABOUT YOUR MUSIC AND WHICH THE WORST? DO YOU BELIEVE THAT EVEN A BAD COMMENT CAN HELP YOU TO IMPROVE MUSICALLY?
We have received more good compliments than bad actually but some guy wrote in a review that this album is one of his best albums for 2004. And of course a bad comment is also an advise (subjective though) but it can help you.
8. I BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE DONE AT LEAST SOME LIVE SHOWS AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOU FELT THE FIRST TIME YOU’VE PLAYED LIVE ON STAGE. SINCE YOU BELONG TO A GREEK LABEL IS THERE A CHANCE TO SEE YOU FOR A LIVE APPEARANCE OVER HERE?
Well, the first time is always a first time. Most of us have done gigs since the 80's so that special feeling was quite a while ago. When there's an opportunity for us to visit Greece of course we'll take it!
9. IMAGINE THAT YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO COOPERATE WITH A FAMOUS MUSICIAN WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
That is a very individual question so it's hard to answer. And there are so many great ones out there.
10. MANY POWER METAL BANDS RELEASE CONCEPT ALBUMS. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT? IF YES WHAT KIND OF STORY YOU IMAGINE IT WOULD BE?
We haven't got any thoughts about doing that. We consider ourselves not to be a pure power metal band but a crossover between the heavy eighties and power metal. And we just want to do good songs that will stick to you mind.
11. WHAT KIND OF EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS DO YOU WANT TO CREATE AS A MUSICIAN TO YOUR LISTENERS?
You know the feeling you had as a kid? The adrenaline rush of pure joy and happiness over the new album by your favorite artist you've just purchased?
12. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INTERVIEW! THE LAST WORDS BELONG TO YOU AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE TO THE READERS OF BEHIND THE VEIL WEBZINE…
We hope to see you out there! Meanwhile buy our album and enjoy it! And STAY METAL!
