2.I WOULD LIKE TO LISTEN TO YOUR OPINION
(AS OBJECTIVE AS IT CAN BE) ABOUT YOUR NEW CD. ARE YOU SATISFIED? DO YOU
THINK THAT THERE ARE THINGS YOU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER?
Well…I don’t care about the production
or other, we are an Underground band and so it’s impossible to make everything
perfect, but I must admit that I am proud of the new cd…for me this concept
is just perfect…also with all its imperfections.
3."HAIL TO HELLAS" IS A CONCEPT STORY
AND NARRATES THE EPIC STORY OF THE THERMOPILES BATTLE. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE
TO WRITE A CONCEPT ON THIS?
I was thinking to make some songs
about this battle since 1997 and also the name of the band is inspired
from the martyrdom of these three hundred lakadaimonios. Making a concept
about Thermopiles I tried also to say thank you to all the incredible supporters
from all over your country. Then…a story so Epic and dramatic is just perfect
for our style, don’t you think?
4.WHEN HAVE YOU DISCOVERED YOUR PASSION
ABOUT HISTORY AND ESPECIALLY ABOUT ANCIENT GREECE? IS IT POSSIBLE IN THE
FUTURE TO WRITE MORE SONGS BASED ON THE ANCIENT GREEK HISTORY?
I don’t know…I am Mediterranean
and I follow my roots, I’m not a Viking…so I like to speak about my History,
above all from Hellas, full of gods and heroes! Be sure…the next songs
will totally devoted to the Lakedaimon Warrior Spirit! Many play a genre
called Viking Metal…ok Holy Martyr plays Lakedaimon War Epic Metal!
5.THE SONGS ON THIS ALBUM ARE MORE
MID TEMPO IN COMPARISON TO THE COMPOSITIONS INCLUDED IN "HATRED AND WARLUST".
WHY IS THAT? IS IT BECAUSE YOU WANTED TO DO GIVE A MORE DRAMATIC ATMOSPHERE
CAUSE LEONIDA'S STORY DOESN'T HAVE A HAPPY ENDING?
Yes…you are right…it was impossible
to write songs full of rage and aggression like in the past…I have used
my heart to speak about Thermopiles and you’ll find it in every tune or
word. The good thing is that many guys from many places are interested
in this battle now, ‘cause they feel an epic and heroic mood and so they
comprehend why the songs sound more Epic and dramatic.
6.I KNOW THAT YOU HAD AN OFFER TO RELEASE
THIS ALBUM FROM A RECORD LABEL. WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO RELEASE IT AFTER
ALL AS A SELF FINANCED ALBUM? DO YOU PLAN TO CONTINUE THIS WAY IN THE FUTURE
AS WELL?
Well, I like to be a part of the
underground, I don’t want to think about rights, labels or other. I think
that now is better to act in this way, then we’ll see, probably I’d do
the same thing in the imminent future I don’t know…I am proud of this new
cd, cause we have financed the work asking the cash from many supporters
everywhere, from many nations. We were out of money and many have
helped us, believing in our music, so this is the demonstration that the
force of the Underground is very strong, in a world dominated from the
mainstream.
7.THE FIRST 200 COPIES OF "HAIL TO
HELLAS" HAVE A SONG ENTITLED "FROM THE NORTH COMES THE WAR" IN WHICH YOU
DO THE LEAD VOCALS. TELL US THE STORY BEHIND THIS SONG. DO YOU THINK OF
SINGING IN OTHER SONGS AS WELL IN THE FUTURE?
Well…this is the first song composed
with the early members of the band. We were a trio called Hell Forge and
I was the guitarist and vocalist. We used to playing this song in 1994
and we stopped to do this in 1998 in think. It’s very strange to hear this
track recorded after many years…with the same line up, incredible. This
is a sort of present for all the guys that have helped us, a special thing.
I don’t know If I’ll sing in other songs…uhm…I have a different voice from
Alex and sometimes I use clean parts…he is more Epic than me eheh!
8.I THINK THAT IN THE SONG "THE LION
OF SPARTA" YOU USE BOUZOUKI AND ALSO IN THE SAME ALBUM YOU HAVE MADE A
COVER OF A TRADITIONAL GREEK SONG CALLED "TA DEILINA". WHY DID YOU CHOOSE
THIS SONG AND WHY DID YOU USE BOUZOUKI? IS IT LIKE A TRIBUTE TO GREECE?
I like folk and traditional music,
sure, this is a tribute for your country and I would like to make it also
in the future with songs that speak of Hellenic history.
9.FOR THE COVER (I AM VERY HAPPY ABOUT
THAT) I HELPED YOU FIND THE PHOTOS. WHAT DO PEOPLE TELL YOU ABOUT THEM?

It’s just perfect and very unusual
I think…I like very much the blood red logo of the band near the red shields
of the lakedaimoniois. No problems with the rights, the owners and also
the men that are wearing the armours like our work and our cd eheh!

songs of Holy Martyr to my “Angioletto” Simona, the only woman of my dreams…

A WORLD WITHOUT MUSIC?
Uhh…probably fight like in the
ancient times, with spear, sword and shield. But we are in modern times…so
I could write some books. I like to write.

TO MEET AND WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK HIM?
Probably Steve Harris…I would like
to say to him THANKS! Then I would like to ask him to write some songs
with me and to leave Iron Maiden and join Holy Martyr ahaha!
