KINETIC
Kinetic is a Greek word meaning the evermoving… This is the one point of view… Which is the other one? Well, an incredible Greek death metal combo, an uprising force that astonished me with their compositions… Be prepared for what’s about to come to you… Their debut will be out this September. In the meantime you are more than welcome to read this very interesting interview! Savvas is here to help us meet with the band…

1.FIRST OF ALL POINT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE BAND'S HISTORY AND INTRODUCE YOURSELVES TO THE READERS...
Well, we started as a complete line up in September of 2002. All of us are coming from other older bands of Greek underground, I from ACID DEATH, Manolis Mammas and Stavros Bonikos (guitars) from BRAIN FADE and Constandinos Alexakis (drums) from WISDOM. We were friends before KINETIC started and when our bands stopped we decided to create a new schema that will include all our dreams and expectations. Our first name was ZERO having the philosophy that four men start something from Zero Point. But some time Constandinos had the idea of KINETIC, with the philosophy “something that never stops to unfold”. So we kept it. Now this new schema is totally active and we count 1½ years on the Underground.
2.LET ME START THE INTERVIEW WITH THE LATEST NEWS. YOU SIGNED A FEW DAYS AGO WITH SLEASZY RIDER RECORDS. HOW DID THIS CO OPERATION OCCUR AND WITH WHAT CRITERIA DID YOU CHOOSE THE LABEL? WHICH ARE YOUR GOALS?
Yes it`s true, we signed with SLEASZY RIDER. Having recorded a demo, including some of our entire material we came in touch with many labels. We had some offers, something that surprised us… we are a totally new band and things are very difficult for a new band to find a good label… We had meetings and meetings to decide what to do and the thought was that we wanted a good label, which would be honest and close to us. So SLEASZY RIDER was our choice. So our first full-length CD will be out in September. SLEASZY RIDER`s owner loves what he does with his bands and this makes us think that everything will be fine. As for our goals we just want to spread our music and to make the fans and ourselves of course feel good, hearing it.
3.YOUR DEMO IS INCREDIBLE AND MOVES ON PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS. HOW EASY IS IT FOR A BAND WITHOUT A LABEL SUPPORTING IT TO DO SUCH A THING? WHY DOES THE DEMO CONTAIN 3 SONGS ONLY? IF YOU COULD CHANGE SOMETHING NOW, WHAT WOULD THAT BE?
On this subject I dare saying we were a little bit lucky. This demo, we rate it as self-released miniCD instead of demo, was recorded in our own recording studios, with our equipment and Stavros on the point of sound-engineer. This was his first professional try out to record and produce some stuff and things worked perfect. I know that things are difficult for a new band when no one would pay for the recordings and no one would give enough attention on the production except for the band members, but believe me, things were more difficult some years ago. Today everyone who wants to do something good he can do it some way because there are very good studios and very good sound-engineers. The situation was really terrible 10 years ago when no one knew what is to record DEATH METAL or even HARD ROCK. As about the number of the songs we just wanted to see how the band works in studio and what the band can do with the songs we had created. So we decided to record only 3 songs, coming from the entire material we had as KINETIC. And we have no thought that something could have been different in this demo.
4.YOU MANAGED TO COMBINE THE SWEDISH DEATH METAL SOUND WITH AMERICAN DEATH METAL AND THRASH ELEMENTS AND ESPECIALLY YOU SOUND VERY CLOSE TO THE ALMIGHTY GODS, DEATH! HOW DID YOU END UP IN SUCH A RESULT? WHAT KIND OF PROCEDURE DO YOU FOLLOW WHILST COMPOSING SONGS?
Ehhh!!! This happened by putting our personal influences together!!! You know we are coming from different kinds each. I was in a Progressive DEATH METAL band, Manolis and Stavros were in a POWER METAL band and Constandinos in a rather HEAVY METAL band. So the mix of all these gave this result and we like it. The most important was that we have very good “music communication” together. If you have this element you can create good things. If this is missing the result will be terrible, even if the band members are in the same musical kind and I know that by personal experiences…
5.WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO AND HOW IMPORTANT ARE THEY FOR YOU?  WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE LYRICS AND WHAT CAN TAKE THE INSPIRATION AWAY FROM YOU?
Our lyrics have to do with the horrible side of life… True or fantastic stories, having a strong touch of irony about the way that humans act in life. Lyrics are as important as music and if someone supports any other theory on it, he is out of how Music works.
6.THE ARTWORK IS BEAUTIFUL AND I THINK VERY PROPER FOR YOUR MUSIC. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT AND CAN YOU TELL US IN A FEW WORDS WHAT IT SHOWS?
Yes you`re right! It`s simple but cool. Constandinos designed it, as he`s responsible for any other band-designs. It shows a mechanical woman who is moving in an old and rusty factory. Woman symbolises the way that a man of today acts and the factory symbolises everything around his life mental and material.
7.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE FEELING YOU HAVE EVERY TIME YOU GET ON STAGE AND SEE THE AUDIENCE BELOW? AREN'T YOU AFRAID SOMETHING MIGHT GO WRONG? WHAT DO YOU DO IF THINGS DON'T WORK OUT FINE?
Live shows is an integral part in a band`s life! A band gets more experience as its live shows are getting more. We love live shows and of course we are planning many. The feeling we have every time we`re on stage is “give your best” and we make it. Of course some things might go wrong ex in our 1st live, 2 (yes!!! Two!!!) minutes before we got on stage a fuse damaged and the whole club dipped into dark!!! When the problem was fixed I discovered that my wireless system on bass wasn`t powered on… I was lucky and it wasn’t damaged too, I fixed it immediately…The worst thing in cases like this is to lose your temper. In that case you’d better not get on the stage just because things will become worse…
8.WHICH IS , ACCORDING TO YOU, YOUR BEST AND WHICH YOUR WORST ELEMENT? WHY SHOULD THE METALLERS LISTEN TO YOU? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER?
Our best and worst element… well, our best element is that we are thinking and acting like a team, having real targets. Our worst one is that we don`t have the time we want for the band… You know things are getting hard when you have to face the things you do in your whole life, job, a family on everything else and on the other hand you love to have your band and work with it. If we had more free time we`d do much more things with the band… But fortunately we`re on the right way. We create music in which every metal fan can find something interesting. That`s our biggest advantage.
9.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
I think if it was an emotion it would be a huge rock rolling down on a hill. If it was a painting it would show the broken bars of a prison… My opinion…
10.IF YOU HAD A PROPOSAL TO DO A VIDEOCLIP, WHICH SONG OF YOURS WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND HOW DO YOU IMAGINE IT TO BE?
“Never Ending Winter”. And paradoxically we plan to make a video for this song when our full-length will be out. As about the scenario it will be based on the song-lyrics. A man who has broken his bonds with reality and lives somewhere describing in details his life and dreams.
11.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO TRAVEL BACK IN TIME, WHICH HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHY?
In the Middle Age just to see with my eyes the things which took place in Human Kind that dark period.
12.LET'S SUPPOSE THAT WE LIVE IN A WORLD WITHOUT MUSIC. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN SUCH A CASE?
I would try to find some material that can give some good noise…I would try to create something melodic using this noise…
13.GIVE ME SOME WORDS THAT CAN DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR EFFORTS.
Fast, clear, hard, melodic, powerful… I think that`s enough!
14.BY THE WAY WHY DO YOU THINK THERE ARE SO FEW WOMEN LISTEN TO HEAVY METAL? WHAT IS THIS ELEMENT THAT KEEPS THEM AWAY?
I really don`t know! Sometimes I feel oddly when I meet a girl who likes to listen to…NAPALM DEATH for example. I think this is something like a stereotype. HEAVY METAL is for men… it`s just silly! Music is for all, both men and women.
15.THANK YOU! HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO ASK YOU ANYTHING AND YOU'D LIKE TO MENTION?
No, I think we`re ok. I want to thank you too for this interview and the help you gave us. Keep on your good work.
