MEMORAIN

I think that one of the new Greek bands that deserves to be succesfull is MEMORAIN. Simply, cause they work in a very professional way and in each release they try to improve themselves. The new release of them, "White Line" left me with good and very possitive impressions about the future of this band. So I had this talk with my friend Ilias and here you can read what we have said...

1.HELLO! THE ALBUM "WHITE LINE" IS VERY GOOD, BUT I'D
LIKE TO HEAR YOUR OPINION ABOUT IT. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM IT?
  • From the first day we get in the studio the only thing we had in our mind was to put all the feelings that we have to our songs. Most of the songs were composed in the studio and for us this was really great. We put all our feelings and thoughts to this album and I hope the people will find it interesting.  
2.THE ALBUM'S TITLE IS "WHITE LINE". WHAT DO YOU WANT
TO SUGGEST WITH THIS?
  • White Line it's a very special song for me for two reasons. First because musically is a tribute to Megadeth. You know, Megadeth for me is a very big influence and I wanted for a long time to compose a song like this. I grow up listening to this band and musically White Line is like a big "thank you" to Megadeth. The second reason is the lyrics, the lyrics of the song it's about some nightmares I had when I was 8 years old and, if you read the lyrics carefully you will understand that those nightmares were a very big problem for me that time.
3.ON THE NEW ALBUM YOU HAVE AS A GUEST A GREAT METAL MUSICIAN AND I AM TALKING ABOUT JAMES MURPHY. HE PLAYED SOME AMAZING SOLOS. HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO COOPERATE WITH HIM? HOW EASY IS IT TO REPRODUCE HIS SOLOS ON STAGE?
  • First of all I want to say that is a big honor for us to have as a special guest in our new album James Murphy. James is a great musician, as everybody knows, and he helped us very much with his advices when we recorded the album. His  solos are so amazing and I believe that it will be very difficult to another guitarist to play them, but I always thing positive and I think that we will find someone to do the job.
4.ONE MORE THING THAT MOST PEOPLE AREN'T AWARE OF IS
THAT YOUR MUSIC IS PLAYED IN A FAMOUS METAL SHOW HERE IN GREECE. WHICH IS THIS SHOW AND HOW DID THIS
COOPERATION OCCUR?
  • The TV show you are talking about is TV WAR from Mad TV. Hakos from TV WAR ask from, I believe, five bands to compose a song for his TV show and finally he chose the song that we wrote.
5."SILENT CRY" IS A SONG THAT DIFFERS FROM ALL THE
OTHERS INCLUDED IN THE ALBUM. IT IS MORE ATMOSPHERIC. HOW DID YOU DECIDE TO COMPOSE SUCH A SONG AND WHICH IS THE MEANING OF THE LYRICS?
  • Silent Cry is a song about nature. The lyrics of the song are about if earth had a voice those words would use to tell us how wrong we use our knowledge.
6.TO WHICH THEMES DO YOUR LYRICS REFER TO? HOW
IMPORTANT ARE THEY FOR MEMORAIN AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE LYRICS?
  • The lyrics of Memorain inspired from ordinary problems, from daily life. We really like to write lyrics for human relationships and in our days the relationships between people are very difficult. We sitting in our couch and we have no idea how the person next door feels and unfortunately many times we don't know how the person who lives with us feels.    
7.ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK THIS FAR? IS THERE
A COMMON ELEMENT YOU SEE REPEATED IN ALMOST ALL THE REVIEWS YOU RECEIVE?
  • To tell you the truth I haven't see all the reviews that the web zines and magazines wrote for our album, so I can't tell you if there is common element between the reviews. But until now, yes I'm satisfied from the reviews we receive.  
8.WHICH WORDS DO YOU THINK CAN BEST DESCRIBE YOUR
MUSIC?
  • To tell you the truth I don't know. I like to leave to others to describe our music. I really hate to say we play this or that, when someone asks me what kind of music Memorain play my answer is: I prefer to tell you our influences than to tell you our style. 
9.WHICH IS, ACCORDING TO YOU, THE BEST AND WHICH THE
WORST PART IN YOUR MUSIC? WHICH IS YOUR TRADEMARK?
  • For me the best thing in our music is honesty.We use our feelings to compose our songs and for me that is the best thing. The worst thing...I believe that we need more work to improve our personal style. In every new song we compose we try to improve our style and we hope one day when someone ask what kind of sound Memorain have the answer will be the sound of Memorain is... Memorain.
10.WHICH ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT WOMEN IN THE
ROCK/METAL SCENE?
  • I believe Doro and Lita Ford.Two big names with very big history. 
11.RECENTLY YOU VISITED THESSALONIKI FOR VACATIONS.
TELL US YOUR IMPRESSIONS?
  • Thessaloniki is a great city with great people, from the first moment we arrived we felt like we are home. I can't wait to visit Thessaloniki again.
