lots of guts and a punk-ish and rebel attitude is what Motorcitybrags offer
to the fans of the hard sound.I think that their music deserves to give
them a try and I bet they will satisfy you and open your apettite for some
more songs!
1.FIRST OF ALL, GIVE US A SHORT BAND BIO AND
INTRODUCE YOURSELVES TO THE READERS. BY THE WAY WHY DID YOU NAME THE BAND
MOTORCITYBRAGS? WHICH ARE THE THINGS YOU LIKE TO BRAG ABOUT?
MCB were born in September 2003, from a Paul
Mckill's idea, who unluckly reinvented himself as a singer, and decided
to build up the most powerful rocknroll band of his dusty city. A few weeks
later, Mark Evil ( an ill - mannered and aggresive tough boy ) and Mexx
( a drunk guitarist who likes to lick up his own cum from his partner's
mouth ) joined the band. During 2004, Mcb recorded their first demo cd
( a 13 minutes ass-kicking masterpiece), and began to play live in all
the worst clubs of their city. In the summer of 2004 the band was forced
to stop, because Mark Evil was caught in a firefight and shot into
a shoulder, after nearly killing a cop and beating two guys with a baseball
bat. A legend was born. We named the band MOTORCITYBRAGS, because it's
perfect for describing our personality; Three suburbs hooligans, with no
feelings for anybody else, except for themselves, and a strong rock n roll
attitude. We hardly play our instruments, but "If I Yell louder than you,
I am right". So here's the brags we're talking about! Another way to understand
our moniker, is this "MOTORCITY BRAGS ( about having 3 extra cool- good
looking rockers living there!!! )"....
2.FILL US IN ON THE BAND'S RELEASES. HAVE YOU
RELEASED ANY OTHER DEMOS BESIDES THIS ONE? IF YES, TELL US A FEW THINGS
ABOUT THEM.
This is the first demo that we recorded, remember
that we are still a young band!!! There is another release coming soon,
anyway; we just recorded a new song (NO REMORSE, which is available on
our website) , and in the fall of 2004, we are planning to go back in the
cumshot studios, and record a new EP, (I think "ROCK N ROLL HOOLIGANS"
will be the title), with 3 or 4 brand new songs. Beware!!!!
3.YOU PLAY A COMBINATION OF PUNK WITH HARD ROCK
AND ROCK 'N' ROLL AND I THINK YOU FIT IN THE DESCRIPTION DIRTY ROCK 'N'
ROLL PREFECTLY. DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT?
I think this is a good way to describe our
music. We all like both rock n roll and punk, even if we come from different
musical backgrounds; I think the word DIRTY fits perfectly with MCB style;
to strenghten this idea in people's heads, nobody in the band wash himself
during the 2 weeks before a live show(er)!!!!!!
4.GIVE US A FEW INFO REGARDING THE RECORDING SESSIONS.
WHERE DID YOU RECORD THE ALBUM? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU? BY THE WAY, WHAT
KIND OF PROCEDURE DO YOU FOLLOW WHILST COMPOSING AND RECORDING YOUR SONGS?
The album was recorded at notorious Cumshot
Studios (my home), except for drums , that were recorded at the notorious
Gangbang Studios (Mark's home), with a digital mixer. Then we put everything
on my Pc, and then we added bass, guitars and vocals. it's VERY hard to
record this way (I was near to a nervous breakdown!) and the sound is not
so good... but it's free, so we can spend our money into more clever things
( such to buy again all the stuff we lose during our concerts cause we're
drunk, drugs, alchool, easy sex and things like this). The recording and
mixing sessions took us about 2 months of hard work and plenty of cigarettes
into our schorchered lungs... The composing procedure is very simple: I
give orders to Mexx and Mark, and they play them.... I AM THE KING, never
forget this!!! ;)
5.THE PRODUCTION IS NOT VERY GOOD. I MEAN THE
SOUND IS DIRTY AND SLEAZY AS IT SHOULD BE, BUT THERE IT DOESN'T HAVE MUCH
VOLUME AND POWER. WHY? ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE WAY IT SOUNDS?
When we decided to record our songs by ourselves,
we knew that this would have been the biggest problem... we know
that our cd lacks of volume and power, but we think that Song's arrangements
and structure were more important than that; if we had recorded in a professional
studio, we would never had so much time ( no cash = no time! ) to add background
vocals and guitar licks... so I think we made the right choice. During
our live shows, we will give you all the volume that you have not found
in the cd, believe me!!!!! ;)
6.NOW, COULD YOU TELL US A COUPLE OF THINGS ABOUT
THE LYRICS? WHICH ARE THE TOPICS YOU DEAL WITH?
The lyrics talk about most of the biggest
problems in a man's life: Sunday morning headache, Robberies, Rapes, Drugs,
Jail Rejects, Weapons, and such clever topics... We try to enchance peace
and love and to make ourselves more lovely as possible ( Do you know why
we live in a boot shaped land? it's for better kick you fuckin ass my friend!!!
); or just to promote ourself as a very polished band ( "I'm the blowjob
lord"), and such silly things...
7.THE CD ALSO CONTAINS A COVER VERSION OF "LAST
CARESS" ORIGINALLY BY THE MISFITS. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS SONG? WHY DID
YOU INCLUDE A COVER SONG AND NOT ONLY YOUR COMPOSITIONS?
Ok, I think that a live song fits perfectly
for a band like MCB.. we decided to include a very famous cover, ( the
Misfits are one of my all time fave bands... Mexx and Mark don't like them
, but I am the master, and in addiction I menaced to raping their girlfriends,
so.... ) just to show to all other bands that we can play it BETTER than
them .. so I sent a cd copy to Lars Ulrich, including a note who
said: "Hey puppy just listen here and try to learn something, ok??"
8.HAVE YOU SENT THE PROMOTIONAL COPY TO ANY LABELS?
WHICH WERE THE REACTIONS THIS FAR? WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK DID YOU RECEIVE?
DID YOU HAVE ANY PROPOSALS OR NOT YET? WITH WHAT CRITERIA WILL YOU SELECT
A RECORD LABEL?
As I expected, all the labels which listened
to our promo, get crazy about it... we have plenty of international offers,
I can't nominate them because we are still waiting answers from great names
as Spitfire and Eagle records, so I have to wait before brag about them!!
We have no criteria for anything, nor drinking, playing, or sending our
promo!!!!
9.WHICH PHRASE FROM A REVIEW YOU READ DO YOU THINK
DESCRIBES YOUR MUSIC IN THE BEST WAY AND WHICH DO YOU THINK HAS NOTHING
TO DO WITH THE WAY YOU SOUND?
I think that the boys from SLEAZEGRINDER gave
the best description for our band: "Not sure if these cats wanna play catchy
rock n roll or just crush people's skulls, but if it's a "glam-punk Kiss"
sound they're after, they're at least halfway there already. ". In
addicion, a zine who begins a review with the words " ITALIAN STALLIONS",
had to be respected anyway ;-)
A phrase that has nothing to do with us, came
from an Italian zine: "This band has to decide what side is on; Ramones
or Ac/dc?"... we are on MCB side, man!!!!
10.WHAT NEW DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE TO OFFER TO
THIS GENRE? WHY DO YOU THINK THE FANS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO YOU?
Ok the promo title is "Nothing new", so I
think that this will answer greatly to the first question ;) Anyway
I think fans will pay attention to this band, just beacuse our live shows
are like chili pepper in your ass, we play better than the others,
we're most beautiful than the others, we write down short songs ( so the
song finishes before you're tired hehe). In italy we say : "SHORT SONG,
LONG COCK"... so here you are!!!!!
11.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT
SHOULD THE FANS EXPECT FROM A MOTORCITYBRAGS LIVE SHOW?
Yes, hoping that Italian fans will not read
this interview, because this is a surprise that we're about to use in our
new live shows... We will bring on stage a large bucket, to begin the show
with a three man's pissing session... and hope our fans will do the
same!!! Talking about music, you can expect a band that plays at
200 Mp/h, with no pity for your ears and for your ass!!!
12.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION WHAT WOULD IT
BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
If it were an emotion it would be ERECTION.
If our music were a painting i think it would be a canvas where the painter
tests his brush!!
13.WHAT TITLE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS INTERVIEW TO
HAVE?
I think "NO FACTS, JUST BRAGS" would be a
nice title ;o)
