NORDVARGR

AMBIENT/NOISE WAS TERMS THAT REALLY I DIDN'T KNOW MUCH. THIS LUCK OF KNOWLEDGE THOUGH DIDN'T STOP ME TO MAKE THE INTERVIEW WITH HENRIK - MASTERMIND OF THE BAND. A GUY THAT PLAYS THIS MUSIC FROM THE LATE '80'S. ANYWAY THESE ARE THE WORDS OF A DARK SOUL.., ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO THANX ALEXANDER SOROTOS FOR HELPING ME TO MAKE THIS INTERVIEW AND TRUSTING OUR SITE.

1.FIRST OF ALL POINT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE BAND'S HISTORY AND INTRODUCE YOURSELVES TO THE FANS.
Well, Nordvargr is not a band, it is my name... I have been making music / noise since the late 80´s in many formations. Most noteworthy is MZ. 412, Folkstorm, Hydra Head 9 and Toroidh.
2.WHAT DOES NORDVARGR EXACTLY MEAN AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A NAME THAT WOULD INDICATE THAT YOU COME FROM THE NORTHERN SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRIES?
Nordvargr means roughly "wolf of the north" and it is, as I said, my real name - Henrik Nordvargr Björkk.
3.GIVE US YOUR OWN DESCRIPTION FOR YOUR MUSIC. PERSONALLY I DON'T KNOW IF MUSIC IS THE CORRECT WORD TO CHARACTERIZE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I MEAN THAT WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED ACCORDING TO ME COULD BE BEST DESCRIBED AS FEELINGS. DO YOU AGREE? NAME SOME OF THE BAND'S INFLUENCES.
I don’t limit myself to just making one "kind" of music - I make serious compositions, free form noise, ambient, ritual and research audio. My feelings do play a great part in my creations, and almost always the music is a pure reflection of myself.
4.YOUR ALBUM WOULD BE AN IDEAL SOUNDTRACK FOR A HORROR MOVIE. DO YOU AGREE? WHICH MOVIE WOULD YOU SELECT?
Yes, some parts of Awaken has cinematic qualities... I am not sure what movie it would fit though...
5.WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH NORDVARGR AND WHERE DO YOU IMAGINE TO BE AS A MUSICIAN IN 10 YEARS TIME?
I can’t say that I have a specific goal with my compostitions... maybe only that I want to move people’s minds with it. Music that makes you FEEL something. My satisfaction comes mainly form two things: Keeping sane - if I didn’t make this music I would probably go mad, it is an outlet of my enormous creativity which must be released... the other thing is the ability to affect other peoples feelings with my music.
6.DO YOU THINK YOU COULD RECREATE YOUR MUSIC LIVE? IS IT A MUSIC FOR LIVE SHOWS OR YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SUCH A THING?
It is possible to recreate much of what I am doing in a live set, but when playing live I prefer to play with my more violent projects... Live performances where people are just standing behind a laptop/synth is plain boring to watch - I want confrontation!
7.IF YOUR MUSIC WAS AN EMOTION WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WAS A PAINTING WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
It would be a mix of hate, fear, pain, sorrow but also power and hope. A "Nordvargr" painting would be very dark, almost totally void of bright colours. But all this is when I do dark ambient as on "Awaken"...
8.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET THE CREATURE THAT CREATED THE UNIVERSE, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK HIM?
    Why?
9.WHICH SONG OF YOURS WOULD YOU DEDICATE TO GOD AND WHICH ONE TO THE DEVIL AND WHY?
I don’t believe in any of them, so that would be nothing.
10.IF YOU COULD BE A HISTORICAL CHARACTER FOR A DAY WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AND WHICH PERIOD OF HIS LIFE WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE?
The last minutes of the guys (guys) who flew into WTC. I really would like to know what goes through the head of a person who is that fanatical.
11.WHAT TITLE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS INTERVIEW TO HAVE?
That’s your job to find out.
12.WHAT WOULD YOU TELL TO THE FANS TO CONVINCE THEM TO BUY YOUR RELEASE INSTEAD OF SOMETHING ELSE?
Because it is good... I have been accused of being too productive and release to much stuff, but the truth is that I always try to release my best things - music that I can stand for. I make hours of music every year that never gets released because I don’t feel that it is good enough to share with the world. I combine both quality and quantity, IMHO.
13.THANK YOU! HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO ASK YOU ANYTHING AND YOU'D LIKE TO MENTION?
No, I think that wraps it up nicely. Keep music evil.
