Quadruple
Quadruple is one of these
bands that as soon as you listen to their music there is no way to forget
them. They will be imprinted in your memory and you will have to agree
with me, eventually when you'll listen to their songs, you will realize
that their sound is special and original. Check out what Johnny told us...
1.HELLO JOHNNY! I READ IN YOUR BIO THAT YOU
EXIST AS A BAND MANY YEARS NOW AND YOU HAD TO SURPASS MANY PROBLEMS. SO,
TELL ME WHAT GAVE YOU THE STRENGTH TO MOVE ON IN TIMES THAT OTHERS WOULD
HAVE QUIT?
Hi Nick! Well, the core of Quadruple is me
and my brother Dan. Since he is mainly the composer of our music and I
write all lyrics, we´ve always had our music quite clear to us. Naturally
we as other bands, get inspired but I think by now we can boast with to
have our own style. There have been periods of time where the band-activity
has been very low but we have never given up the belief that our music
is good enough and not a clone to any other band.
2.QUADRUPLE IS A WORD THAT DERIVES FROM THE NUMBER
4. WHAT DOES YOUR NAME EXACTLY MEAN TO YOU AND HOW DID YOU SELECT IT?
We are four members in the band - this will
never change. A keyboardist is out of the question. The music we make is
based upon two guitars, bass and drums. The two guitars often play the
same riffs very tightly and are creating a wall of sound together with
the bass. The drum-rythms and sometimes the vocal-rythms often work together
with the guitars. This is not unique by all means but I think we do it
better than most.
3.BEFORE RELEASING THIS OFFICIAL ALBUM,
YOU HAVE ALSO RECORDED IN THE PAST 2 PROMO CDS. WHY DIDN'T YOU INCLUDE
THOSE PROMO SONGS IN YOUR NEW ALBUM? HOW EASY IS IT FOR SOMEONE TO LISTEN
TO OR OBTAIN THOSE 2 PROMOS? DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR RELEASING THEM AGAIN
AS ONE ALBUM FOR YOUR FANS?
We have talked about re-recording some older
songs but at this time it won´t happen. We have developed our music
since those recordings and we´re not sure if they will fit in. Those
records are not easy to come by. But if our fans really want it maybe we´ll
publish them on our web-site http://www.quadruple.org

4.IN 1994 YOU MADE A VIDEO CLIP, BEFORE EVEN RELEASING
AN OFFICIAL ALBUM. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO DO SUCH A THING?
DID THE VIDEO CLIP HELP YOU OR WAS IT JUST A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AS
OTHER BANDS CLAIM? WILL YOU DO ANOTHER CLIP FOR ONE OF YOUR NEW SONGS PERHAPS?
We sent a demo to Z-TV and they liked it so
we travelled to Stockholm to record it for a future broadcast. This did
not cost us a thing more than the gasolin, so we thought, what the
fxxx. I think we will do a new video-clip pretty soon but we are not sure
which song to choose yet.
5.YOU HAD MANY PROBLEMS TO FORM A STEADY LINE
UP, ESPECIALLY IN THE DRUMMER'S POSITION. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THIS HAS HAPPENED?
DO YOU THINK THAT THIS SITUATION WORKED NEGATIVELY FOR THE BAND AND MADE
YOU LOSE SOME CHANCES FOR EXPOSURE?
Yes, we have always been very careful when
choosing a drummer and sure, this has had a cost. Good drummers don´t
grow on trees. At least not in the south of Sweden. We, the brothers, are
not and have never been acting as the band´s dictators telling the
others what to do. At least, I hope that the others feel that they can
come with ideas and alter our songs so they will be even better.
6.FROM 1988 THAT YOU FIRST STARTED TILL 2004 MANY
YEARS HAVE PASSED. CAN YOU TELL ME HOW THIS YEAR INFLUENCED YOU AS PERSONS
AND AS A BAND?
I can only speak for myself. Our music has
grown harder over the years though it has never been mainstream. When it
comes to lyrics, I have always tried to write about something meaningful.
I follow the everyday news programs and I have a point of view on many
things and this you can read about in the lyrics. Some may think that I
who has never experienced a war, shouldn´t be writing about it either
but I think I have a good ability of understanding.
7.CAN WE SAY THAT QUADRUPLE IS A LIVE BAND? HAVE
YOU PLAYED ANY LIVE SHOWS OUSIDE YOUR COUNTRY? ANY PLANS FOR TOURINGIN
ORDER TO PROMOTE YOUR NEW CD?
Yes, we are definitely a live band. Mostly
we have played in Sweden and Denmark but we hope to extend the tour now.
8.YOU ARE A BAND WITH QUALITY AND I AM REALLY
CURIOUS AND ASTONISHED WITH THE FACT THAT YOU HAVEN'T YET SIGNED TO ANY
FAMOUS METAL LABEL. DID YOU HAVE ANY OFFERS AFTER RELEASING THIS CD?
Thanks. You seem to have taken the effort
of really listening to the cd. This release is very new and you are actually
one of the first receiving it. We´ll have to see what happens.
9.A THING THAT I APPRECIATED A LOT BESIDES YOUR
MUSIC ARE YOUR LYRICS THAT REVEAL PEOPLE INTELLIGENT, OPEN MINDED AND IN
TOUCH WITH REALITY. THE KIND OF PERSONS, I BELIEVE, THAT OUR MUSIC REALLY
NEEDS. SO, TELL ME HOW YOU WRITE YOUR LYRICS AND WHICH EMOTIONS AROUSE
BETTER THIS NEED OF YOURS TO EXPRESS YOURSELVES AND THOUGHTS THROUGH LYRICS.
DO YOU THINK THAT YOUR LYRICS HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE PEOPLE THINK ABOUT
THE WORLD THEY LIVE IN?

say that I am a crusader and I am trying to change people´s minds.
I am just trying to write some interesting lyrics that derive from my point
of view. I have usually read something in the paper or seen a news or debate
program that upsets me. Most often, people doing evil to other people.
This subject has an endless feeling of anger attached to it.
10.LATELY IT SEEMS THAT SEPTEMBER HAS STARTED
BECOMING THE MONTH OF TRAGEDIES. AFTER THE 11TH OF SEPTEMBER WE HAD THE
TERRORIST ATTACK AGAINST THAT SCHOOL IN RUSSIA, WHERE MANY INNOCENT CHILDREN
LOST THEIR LIVES. WERE YOU INFORMED ON THE INCIDENT? HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT
IT?
Yes, like most other people I saw the news
on TV. These type of terrible acts of terrorism almost always happen to
innocent, often poor people and children. There is no excuse whatsoever
for comitting these crimes. I think it is very hard to easily put a stop
to these type of events, since the terrorist organizations have been allowed
to develop to what they are today for a very long time.
11.I CONSIDER HEAVY METAL (AS PART OF ROCK MUSIC)
AS A REVOLUTIONARY MUSIC THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FASCISTUC IDEOLOGIES
THAT SOME BANDS TRY TO PULL THROUGH THEIR LYRICS, ESPECIALLY IN THE EXTREME
METAL GENRE. WHICH ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT? DO YOU BELIEVE THAT THE IDEOLOGICAL
CONFUSION THAT EXISTS NOWADAYS ALL AROUND THE WORLD HAS ALSO “INFECTED”
METAL MUSIC?
I think it sucks. It just shows that people
will do anything to get famous nowadays. I don´t really think that
these bands stands for anything politically. Since it is a bunch of young
people listening to music, I also think that we have a responsibility towards
them.
12.BACK TO THE MUSIC NOW. I BELIEVE THAT A BIG
INFLUENCE TO YOU ARE METALLICA AND BLACK SABBATH. YOU ALSO SOUND CLOSE
TO BANDS LIKE MORGANA LEFAY AND TAD MOROSE. DO YOU AGREE? ARE YOU AWARE
OF THOSE BANDS (TAD MOROSE AND MORGANA LEFAY)? WH?CH OTHER BANDS INFLUENCED
YOU AS WELL?
Unfortunately, I don´t know anything
about these two latter bands. Maybe I should be ashamed. Other influences
is Tygers of Pan Tang, Pantera, AC/DC, Meshuggah.
13.ONE CD OF YOURS HAS BEEN REVIEWED BY MEMBERS
OF MOTLEY CRUE. HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT? WHAT DID THEY SAY REGARDING
YOUR SINGLE AND YOUR MUSIC IN GENERAL?
We thought it was cool, naturally. They said
that “the record was OK but the drummer ought to slow down”.. Maybe
they shouldn´t be reviewing it…
14.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT
BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
Anger and disappointment. A painting ?? I
don´t know any painting right now that would fit in.
15.IF YOU COULD INVITE FAMOUS MUSICIANS TO PARTICIPATE
IN YOUR ALBUM, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
Thomas Haake- drummer in Meshuggah, it has
got to be a pleasure to play with him MalcolmYoung – AC/DC, he really can
play riffs heavy and tight.
16.WHICH WORDS DO YOU THINK CAN PRESENT YOUR MUSIC
THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY? WHICH PHRASE DO YOU BELIEVE CAN SUM UP ALL YOUR
EFFORTS AND THE WHOLE BAND HISTORY IDEALLY?
Some reviewer said that we have a “strong
hard rock sound” in our music and I think that that’s what we have in our
mixture of metal and thrash – a “strong hard rock sound”.

We really, REALLY want to hear reviews and
points of views from people, to see if the expression of our music we are
trying to make is the same as the listeners get it. I am thrilled to read
things like that the more you put our cd into the cd-recorder, the more
you like the songs. If this is the case, then we have accomplished real
music.
