RELAYPSE
There is a
variety of reasons why someone would form a band. Others do it aiming at
the attention and famacity they will receive, others dream of becoming
rich and others do it just for the fun, for the love of music. This is
what Relaypse from Italy tell us. Music is underground for them and their
band is a community of friends, where everybody is invited to come in and
participate. Cri, the band's singer is here to introduce the band and outline
some of the basic principles that rule the band.
1.HELLO! PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELVES
TO THE READERS BY STATING SOME OF YOUR MOST IMPROTANT MOMENTS AS A BAND.

Hi, we are Relaypse from Italy. Our
band was formed about 3 years ago from the ashes of an old band called
Podio. So, me and the other 2 components of Relaypse had a band since 1993
called Podio. We went on an Italian Tv for a few times. In 1999 Podio story
had a break so we decided to form a new band with some other friends (Degio
and Lollo) with new heavy sounds, a new singer and a new attitude. After
Podio broke up I was thinking that it would be really hard!For sure I was
wrong!
2.WHY DID YOU NAME THE BAND THIS WAY?
WHAT DOES CRI STAND FOR?

Cri is my name (singer). Relaypse stand
for Relapse ...I will explain...we are Italian and English is not our first
language...so (eheh) we say Relaypse but the original name was "Relapse".
3.GIVE US SOME GENERAL INFO ON "RELAYPSE".
WHERE WAS IT RECORDED, WHO WAS THE PRODUCER, HOW LONG DID IT
TAKE YOU? ARE YOU SATISFIED BY
THE FINAL RESULT? IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO CHANGE SOMETHING NOW WHAT
WOULD THAT BE?

Relaypse is self-produced. We have
recorded it in Milan at Moonhouse studio (do you know Moon of Steel,
they are the studio owners). For now, we don't have any producer! We have
just recorded only 4 songs and we didn't send our promo to anyone. This
is a precise political! We think that spending time and money to find a
label is not a good idea for an underground band like us. We already have
a good job and we don't have intention to change what we have obtained
with years of sacrifice (a good job) with the poetic idea to be a metal
musician. Metal is undergound music and only few people can live of this.
We love our music and we love internet as a powerfull tool that we can
use to give for free our music and our name to all the world. We are an
underground band, we don't do that for money but only for us and for few
friends, cause we like our distortion scream vocals and power druming!!!
If someone will hear us it will only be through our site or through some
freemetal compilations!
4.GIVE US A DESCRIPTION FOR YOUR MUSIC
AND NAME SOME OF THE BANDS, MUSICIANS OR ALBUMS THAT HAVE INFLUENCED YOU
INTO FORMING RELAYPSE.

Our music is exactly the union of our
musical runs. We are surely influenced by what we have listened through
the years. We try to unite the influences of groups metal old-style with
the new tendencies and the new sounds typical of the nu-metal. Some of
the bands from which we draw inspiration are: Pantera Metallica, Godsmack,
System of a down but above all "Gurd", a Swiss group that has the best
rhythms on guitar among everybody !
5.WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO?
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE LYRICS AND HOW IMRPOTANT ARE THEY FOR
YOU?

You have to know that I am completely
paranoid! At times I wake up on Sunday mornings and I absolutely have some
negative feelings that dissuade me from anything I try to do. And from
these feelings that they depart the lyrics of our songs. They are sometimes
paranoid without base. Instead other times there are feelings that describe
a period of my life in which I didn't succeed in being myself anymore,
in a few words they speak of changes. The last lyrics trace this line without
never being repetitive. Mexico, that in concerts is the most demanding
song, speaks of a hypothetical place where our mind would like to shelter
itself when it seems that everything falls us I set.Discotheque, more than
a song a work of 10 minutes, speaks of us at times the line between the
normalcy and the madness is tied up to a thin thread. We could be people
of success or the total failures, however this always depends on our choices.
6.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS?
WHAT SHOULD THE METALLERS EXPECT FROM A RELAYPSE LIVE SHOW? SHARE SOME
OF YOUR EXPERIENCES FROM YOUR LIVE SHOWS WITH US...

You don't have to wait for anything
from one show of ours! We do really stink. We do it well on Cd because
our music is completely done on the computer and in reality I am a puppet
singer (on the cd it sings another guy). I am joking.... surely we are
not the classical metallers all studs, buffooneries type to break the guitar
or to burn the amplifiers and jackets of black skin! Generally, in our
concerts we dress casually. We don't want the metal to be a kind of niche.
Everybody has to be able to listen to it. All have the right after one
concert of ours to go home with whistling ears... ... The climate that
is created in our concerts is very friendly, we exactly behave there as
we are in life and it doesn't rub anything of it if it is not a "metal"
behavior. You have to feel Metal in your blood and especially in the power
emitted by our rhythmic base. Everything can be said in a concert of the
Relaypses, but not that our distorsions won't break your knees!
7.WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE THAT
DOESN'T KNOW YOU, IN ORDER TO INTRIGUE HIS INTEREST? WHICH IS YOUR MOST
APPEALING ELEMENT ACCORDING TO YOU?

Surely the particularity of our songs.
A lot of people at the end of one of our concerts come to tell me that
they have never felt anything similar before.
8.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT
WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?

Our music is a discharge of anger,
emotion and grim that doesn't leave you often indifferent. If it were a
famous picture I would say that "the scream " it would be the closest picture
next to what we want to represent.
9.IF YOU HAD A PROPOSAL TO DO A VIDEOCLIP,
WHICH SONG OF YOURS WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND HOW DO YOU IMAGINE
IT TO BE?

Perhaps the song that leads more to
a video is Mexico. A really powerful piece. Would be a dream to make a
video on the history of a boy in the middle of a pogo!
10.IF WE ARE ALL JUST A WORD IN THE
GREAT BOOK OF CREATION, CAN YOU SAY WHICH WORD COULD DESCRIBE YOU BETTER?
CAN YOU ALSO IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF AUTHOR WOULD BE THE CREATOR OF THIS BOOK
AND WHY?

The word is friendship. The creator
of this book I would like to be ourselves. If I consider of all the past
experiences, considering that we know each other since children, it comes
only to my mind friendship. I have always had the idea to pick up all the
experiences passed in a book, probably however I don't have the ability
to exactly write my memoirs as they are. That's why I don't do that. I
prefer to describe a feeling in a few lines. This serves me a lot. And
as if it were the index of a book in my mind. I very often realize that
not putting this stake, many memoirs might be lost.
11.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO TRAVEL
BACK IN TIME, WHICH HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND
WHY?

The medieval times is the epoch that
fascinates me the most. The way of living in medieval times with the intelligence
of now would be genial to try a social scaling and to have fame, money
and women.
12.DO YOU THINK THAT PERHAPS GOD GOT
SO FRIGHTNED FROM WHAT HE CREATED THAT HE MOVED TO HEAVEN IN
ORDER TO KEEP DISTANCE FROM HIS
CREATIONS? :))

Personally I am an atheist. I'd rather
like to believe that our civilization has been installed by intelligence
coming from other planets. For nature the man is like a gypsy. Once that
we will have exploited the earth we will evolve there and we will migrate
on other earths to exploit for other years changing our physicist and our
intelligence. Unfortunately, since I am also a man, it is very easy to
realize that the man's presence on the earth is equal to the tumor that
strikes the man.
13.LET'S SUPPOSE THAT WE LIVE IN A
WORLD WITHOUT MUSIC. WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN SUCH A CASE?

This would be a good occasion to listen
to the sounds of the nature. We don't very often realize there that the
nature communicates with us through music. Beginning from the birdie out
of the window reaching the dog that howls. We are boys of city and very
often when we go to the places of isolated mountains we are stunned by
the sounds that we have not gotten used to feeling.
14.IF YOU WERE A FLY, WHERE WOULD YOU
LIKE TO BE AND WHY?

This would be a good solution to save
the lost time, to run from my house to my girlfriend's house. Sometimes,I
am more in the traffic that with her.
