Sacrificed
Sacrificed is a really
new Greek band dwelling somewhere in between the melodic death metal sound
and classic heavy metal. Recently they released their first demo entitled
"Gardens Of The Damned", so Behind The Veil considered that a presentation
of the band is essential, since we really think they can evolve and offer
us many things in the future...
1.FIRST OF ALL, GIVE US A SHORT BAND HISTORY
AND INTRODUCE THE CURRENT LINE UP...
The band was created in June 2004 by Panagioti
Athanasiou (guitars), Gianni Fikiori (bass), Basili Papapanagiotou (vocals)
and Niko Veletza (drums). After a lot of practising, during winter, we
recorded the demo "Gardens Of The Damned". On this demo we didn't include
all of our compositions. We already have new material and soon we will
enter the studio to record our new demo.
2.YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC AS HEAVY METAL WITH
SWEDISH DEATH METAL RIFFS. WHY? WAS IT DIFFICULT TO YOU TO FORM THIS SOUND?
We use this description for our music, because
it's neither pure heavy metal nor Swedish death metal. It is the result
of mixing the above mentioned genres. It is a little bit complicated, but
this is how SACRIFICED sound.
3.WHAT KIND OF METAL DO YOU PREFER LISTENING TO?
CAN YOU PINPOINT SOME OF YOUR MOST BELOVED BANDS?
We listen to a lot of stuff, but we prefer
the Swedish death metal sound and especially bands like At The Gates, In
Flames, Dimension Zero etc. Also we listen to thrash metal bands like Slayer
and Sepultura. Our drummer is a big fan of Morbid Angel.
4.THE PRODUCTION IS NOT VERY GOOD AND THE SOUND
IS A BIT DULL AND DIM. WHY? IS IT DUE TO LACK OF EXPERIENCE OR MONEY?
I believe that the main responsible for the
sound in our demo is our sound engineer, because he doesn't know anything
about Metal music, but he was the only one that we could find. We also
didn't have the money to record our demo in a town outside of Volos. For
our next release we plan to change sound engineer or to go to Athens for
the recordings.
5.WHAT KIND OF PROCEDURE DO YOU FOLLOW WHILST
COMPOSING THE SONGS? DO YOU ALL CONTRIBUTE IN THE SONGWRITING?
In the composing of our songs all the band
members participate. We all have plenty of ideas, we gather everything
we have and finally we create our songs.
6.ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FINAL RESULT? IF YOU
COULD CHANGE SOMETHING WHAT WOULD THIS BE?
The songs included in the demo don't need
any improvement. On the other hand I think that we have to work a lot in
the production area, because as you said the production of the demo is
unfair for our songs.
7.WHICH ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? DO YOU
HAVE ANY NEW SONGS READY?
We already have 3 new songs and we are preparing
some more and then we will release our new demo.
8.WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO? HOW IMPORTANT
ARE LYRICS FOR SACRIFICED?
For us the lyrics play a very important role
in our songs. All of our songs ( break for a cigarette :)), deal with themes
inpired by real life and all that happens every day.
9.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? HOW ARE
YOU PROMOTING YOUR WORK?
We will play live here in Volos on 9th July
at the T-Sound Festival (you are invited if you want to come and of course
if you can), and we are open to new proposals for live shows. We do the
promotion of our demo via Internet and the Post office.
10.HAVE YOU SENT THE DEMO TO ANY LABELS? IF YES,
WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE DID YOU RECEIVE?
We will now start sending our demo mainly
to new labels and we will wait for a response.
11.ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK YOU GOT THIS
FAR?
The reviews we have received are quite good
till now, like for example the one we got from Golden Rules Fanzine.
12.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT
BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
If our music were an emotion it would be despair
and disatisfaction. If it were a painting, I think it would be the Guernika
of Pablo Picasso.
13.IF YOU COULD BE A HISTORICAL PERSON FOR A DAY,
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AND WHICH PERIOD OF HIS LIFE WOULD YOU LIKE TO
SEE?
I would like to be Alexander the Great, during
his march against the Persian empire (don't ask me why, because simply
I don't know!!!).
