Seven
Circles
The exometal days are at
least for now put on ice and out of the target of Andreas Lanzt, who decided
to form a new band with a clearer vision and musical direction. Seven Circles
is a band that belongs to the atmospheric/gothic branch and below is a
short band presentation.
1.HELLO ANDREAS! FIRST OF ALL, I WOULD LIKE
TO ASK YOU WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOUR BIZARRE PROJECT AND THE EXOMETAL MUSIC
YOU USED TO PLAYING? HAVE YOU PUT IT ON ICE OR WILL YOU CONTINUE IT IN
THE FUTURE?
As soon as I formed the band everything took
a different turn. There are many wills in a band and if the majority wants
to go in a different direction then it's fine for me.
2.NOW, IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN SEVEN CIRCLES IS YOUR
NEW BAND. SO TELL ME HOW AND WHEN DID YOU FORM IT? ALSO PRESENT THE GUYS
THAT ARE IN THE BAND'S LINE UP. DO THEY HAVE ANY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN
OTHER BANDS?
We formed during the winter 2003-2004. The
band consists of Tomas Kronvall-guitar, Djoni Deidesgaard-drums and I try
take care of the rest. The line-up isn't complete. At the moment we are
looking for a bassplayer.
3.YOU ARE FROM SWEDEN, WHICH IS MAINLY FAMOUS
FOR IT POWER METAL AND MELODIC DEATH METAL BANDS. HOWEVER, YOUR SOUND IS
CLOSER TO THE FINNISH ATMOSPHERIC/GOTHIC METAL AS IT IS PLAYED BY BANDS
LIKE SENTENCED AND H.I.M. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS MUSICAL PATH? IS IT PERHAPS
BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU CAN ACHIEVE SUCCESS MUCH EASIER THIS WAY?
It's hard to make people in general and labels
in particular enjoy stuff like the exometalsongs these days. I thought
it was time for a new genre of metal but the rest of the world didn't basically.
It's possible that we will take up that project again when the band is
ready for it.
4.NOW, I KNOW THAT YOU DON'T SELL YOUR MUSIC IN
A CDR FORMAT, SO HOW CAN SOMEONE LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC? DO YOU THINK THAT
INTERNET IS A SUFFICIENT WAY TO MAKE YOUR MUSIC MORE KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD?
We will sell our music when the cover is finished.
Internet is for sure a great way to promote the band. It's probably the
best way for a smalltownband without any managment like ourselves.
5.IF ONE DAY YOU DISCOVER THAT SOME PEOPLE COPY
YOUR MUSIC FOR FREE AND PASS IT TO OTHERS, HOW WILL YOU REACT? DON'T YOU
THINK THAT THIS SOMEHOE MAY HELP THE BAND AND ALLOW IT TO BE HEARD MUCH
EASIER AND WITH LESS MONEY?
At this point it?s fine. As long as they copy
the contact info as well. We are rehearsing other songs that may become
even better at the moment and I can probably do the vocals a lot better
when it?s time to record a full lenght album so I hope that people
will buy it then.
6.WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE WITH SEVEN
CIRCLE? IS IT A BAND YOU HAVE AS A HOBBY FOR YOUR FREE TIME OR ARE YOU
INTERESTED IN TURNING TOWARDS A MORE PROFESSIONAL DIRECTION? DO YOU WANT
TO SIGN WITH A LABEL? IF YES, HOW DO YOU PLAN TO APPROACH THE LABELS AND
DID YOU HAVE TILL NOW ANY INTEREST FROM THEM?
We hope that we will find a decent deal. It
will most likely stay a hobby anyway since it?s very hard to make a living
playing in a heavy rock band playing only their own songs these days.
7.NOW, LET'S TALK A BIT ABOUT THE LYRICS. WHO
IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM? CAN YOU TELL ME IN A FEW WORDS WHAT IS THE MAIN
THEME OF EACH SONG?
The lyrics are about various things that mean
something to me like unlucky love, prophecies of the future and even a
hairy ape in the U.S.A. I have written them all so far. Tomas has a new
song that will become very different from mine.
8.WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE MAIN EMOTION OF YOUR
MUSIC AND HOW EASY IS IT FOR THE LISTENER TO COMMUNICATE IT AND RECEIVE
IT? DON'T YOU THINK THAT DEPENDING ON HOW STRONG ARE THE EMOTIONS CREATED
BY EACH ARTISTS WE CAN VALUE THE QUALITY OF A RELEASE AND WHETHER IT CAN
PASS THE TEST OF TIME OR NOT?
The lyrics are very easy to understand. No
hidden meanings but hopefully enough emotion to pass the test of time.
I think that only a few songs made during the previous 10 years will become
evergreens compared to the 60's and 70's. The emotion of the lyrics is
only secondary when it comes to ranking a song as a future evergreen.
9.IF YOU COULD INVITE FAMOUS MUSICIANS TO PARTICIPATE
IN YOUR MUSIC, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
I would love to play with master technicians
like Greg Howe the guitarist and Alain Caron the bassist and on drums propably
Dennis Chambers. I would love to have played with Shawn Lane too of course.
A wonderful guy I spoke to a few months before he died last year. R.I.P.
