SNOWBLIND
Snowblind's new album, "Lord Of My Fate" is definitely one of the best releases of Greek heavy metal this year. Dark, but yet optimistic their music can function as a medicine in your desperate moments. Mike, before start SNOWBLIND was the main axeman of NIGHTFALL, a very succesfull greek band. Here he explain to us why he decided to leave Nightfall and which is the philosophy behind his new band. I believe thtat this one is an interview that you all must read... 
1. FIRST OF ALL I WANT TO NOW WHAT YOU THINK OF “LORD OF MY FATE”. DO YOU STILL LIKE IT? PLEASE BE AS OBJECTIVE AS YOU CAN. MAKE A COMPARISON BETWEEN THIS ONE AND YOUR PREVIOUS RELEASE.
  • Yes we still like and listen to it. Its our best album for sure. If you compare it with the previous album this one has more melody and a lighter more optimistic vibe around it and also it is nearer to the sound we want to create..
2. “LORD OF MY FATE”…WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT TO SUGGEST BY THAT? THAT EACH ONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS/HER OWN FATE AND CHOICES? TAKING IT TO ANOTHER LEVEL DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU NOW HAVE MORE FREEDOM TO CREATE YOUR OWN MUSIC THAN WHEN YOU USED TO BE IN NIGHTFALL?
  • LORD OF MY FATE is the point to anyones life where he or she understands that no one will care for himself more than his own self . it's the time you get up and take control instead of being miserable complaining to everyone. I have never thought the comparison of Nightfall and me all the things mentioned before are one basic life philosophy we have in the band. I live like that or at least I try.
3. DID YOU START SNOWBLIND AS A PROJECT BAND OR NOT? WHY DID YOU TAKE THE RISK TO LEAVE FROM NIGHTFALL, WHICH IS A VERY SUCCESSFUL BAND, AND START ALL OVER AGAIN? SOMEONE MIGHT SAY THAT THE OVERALL SOUND DOESN’T DIFFER THAT MUCH BETWEEN THESE 2 BANDS….
  • All started with me makin the demo winter of souls cause I was freaked out with the Nightfall problems or demands that had nothing to do with music but with buisness. I didn’t think anything that was my point, but I left Nightfall after young egoistic wannabe musicians came against me in many ways. Let them put their photo on a cd they re desperate that’s what I said and left.
4. YOUR NEW ALBUM IS VERY GOOD AND BROUGHT TO MY MIND BANDS LIKE SENTENCED, THE BLACK LEAGUE AND DARK AT DAWN. ARE YOU AWARE OF THESE BANDS? DO YOU LIKE THEM OR DON’T YOU WANT TO BE COMPARED WITH THEM?
  • We all like these bands we don’t have a problem with comparisons. it will happen anyway.
5. YOU CAN BE DESCRIBED AS A DARK METAL BAND, BUT YOU HAVE A MORE OPTIMISTIC VIEW OF LIFE THAN OTHER BANDS OF THIS GENRE. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT WE MUST HAVE HOPE AND FAITH TO OURSELVES EVEN IN OUR DARKEST HOURS?
  • The secret is to have faith every minute and then you discover that there are no dark moments only moments that you lost your faith.You don’t fall if you don’t want to fall its so simple.
6. WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU? HOW IMPORTANT ARE LYRICS FOR SNOWBLIND?
  • My lyrics refer to the inner strength we all have and to the personality we all have inside,because there is a plan that all the people should react and behave the same way. It is very important for the band cause that’s what heavy metal is all about, being yourself and fightin for your thoughts.
7. FROM THE BAND’S BEGINNING YOU WANTED TO BE THE SINGER. WILL YOU KEEP THE VOCALS OR ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR A SINGER? YOUR VOCALS ARE A BIT BIZARRE. WHAT DO THE FANS SAY AND HOW DO THEY REACT?
  • I don’t care to sing or not .We are a team if someone can fit in our vibe and philosophy is welcomed from us. As for the fans you have to ask them all opinions are different always for any subject.
8. SOMETHING I ASKED YOU IN THE FIRST INTERVIEW AND YOU NEVER REPLIED IS HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THIS NAME? DID YOU TAKEN IT FROM THE FAMOUS BLACK SABBATH SONG?
  • I am really sorry for that yes we love Sabbath.
9. YOU ALSO HAVE A LIVE TOUR ON THE PLANS? IN WHICH COUNTRIES WILL YOU APPEAR AND WITH WHICH OTHER BANDS? WILL YOU BE THE HEADLINERS?
  • It was always my attitude not to say things about the future if its not for sure. Please wait with us for that.
10. TOLIS TOLD M THAT THE BAND’S LINE UP HAS CHANGED. WHO LEFT AND WHO ENTERED THE BAND?
  • Yes our new drummer is another brother of us george.k amazing steady and heavy drummer.
11. “LOVIN’ YOU TO DEATH” IS A MID PACED VERSION OF NIGHTFALL’S “MY OWN TROY”. AM I RIGHT? WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO REARRANGE THIS SONG AND GIVE IT A NEW TITLE?
  • This song belongs to a banch of songs jim and I wrote and recorded through the years. efthimi used it for Nightfall but we love the originall and we did it again at its first form.
12. IN WHICH PLACE DID YOU SHOOT  YOUR VIDEO CLIP AND WHO ARE THOSE 2 BEAUTIFUL LADIES THAT WERE DANCING IN IT? DO YOU HAVE PLANS TO DO ANOTHER VIDEO CLIP FOR THIS ALBUM AS WELL?
  • We shot it at a club .these ladies are dancer (I guess you want their phone number).one of them was dancing at the rockwave fest with cradle of filth.We thing for another video, but we are not sure yet.
13. EFTHIMIS KARADIMAS (NIGHTFALL’S SINGER) SINGS ON ONE SONG. CAN YOU TELL ME WHICH THIS SONG IS AND HOW DID THIS COOPERATION OCCUR?
  • WOMAN is the song .nothing special I recorded it, called efthimis and he sang .so easy.Its far from Nightfall style anyway.
14. THE ALBUMS’ COVER IS ALSO GREAT. CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT I SHOWS AMD HOW IS IT CONNECTED TO YOUR LYRICS?
  • The cover is left to anyone to decide if fate has to do with luck or if its dark by herself good or bad whatever. Leave your imagination free and find it out.
15. IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
  • If it was an emotion it would be the motion of feeling powerfull and peacefull. If it was a painting it would show a soul rising higher and higher.
