WINTERMOON
Something that most of
us forget or don't know, is how black metal started. It didn' start as
just another heavy metal branch. It started as something more, as an ideology
until a big "boom" occured (I think that more or less all of us know the
story) and most of the black metal bands of the 90's disbanded or...Back
in those days black metallers formed some "casts", it was a black metal
circle, tied up together, but then because of some incidents (like the
burning of churches, the suicides and the killings) everything was left
behind and forgotten. Later on, new bands popped out in the black metal
scene. Bands that were aware of the image of their "ancestors", thus they
used it to provoke the fans. Some of them are true in their beliefs and
attitude and some of them are false. I am not here to judge anyone, but
the definite thing, if you read this interview, is that Spiritual Wintermoon,
present us the sickness of the old days and bands like Mayhem...
1.TELL US IN A FEW WORDS THE MOST
IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE BAND'S HISTORY. WHICH IS TODAY'S LINE UP?
These moments surely are the season
we were recording with SEPSIS our second opus "Nightfall In The Ancient
Woods". We were spending countless hours together recording and mixing
in our home studio for 6 days and nights without sleep, something like
"self-torture" in order to create something sick and chaotic. At this time
the line up is me, SEPSIS and my very good friend ZYMOX who helps us with
the Bass.
2.WHY HAVE YOU NAMED THE BAND THIS
WAY? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EXPRESS WITH THAT?
Firstly SPIRITUAL WINTERMOON is
not a band, it's a hierarchy, a cursed hierarchy. The name is not a choice,
it's His command. We don't have to express anything, we only have an oligation,
to spread His words.
3.HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC?
WHICH ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? WHICH BANDS DO YOU THINK HAVE NO PLACE IN THE
METAL COMMUNITY?
If you talk about Black Metal you
can't talk about music, you must talk about ideology and anti-christian/satanic
propaganda. I don't give a fuck about the musical part, if you want to
describe our "music" you can simply use 4 words that are quite enough.
These words are: CHAOS, DARKNESS, HATE, SORROW. Our biggest influences
are the mighty BLASPHEMY, BEHERIT, PROFANATICA and the old, glorious ROTTING
CHRIST. I don't care about anyone in the "metal community".
4.WHAT ARE YOUR LYRICS TALKING ABOUT?
ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH THE OCCULT OR PAGANISM? TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT
THE LYRICS OF YOUR LATEST DEMO.
The lyrical part is maybe the most
important subject of Spiritual Wintermoon. Through the lyrics we spread
our ideology and His Message. All our lyrics are extracts from our experiences
through the occult arts. Sorry, but I can't give you more info about the
lyrics, they are very personal and this is the reason we'll never put them
in our booklets.
5.HOW MANY RELEASES DO YOU HAVE? TELL
US SOME THINGS ABOUT EACH ONE OF THEM AND MOSTLY FOR YOUR LATEST DEMO "NIGHTFALL
IN ANCIENT WOODS". ARE YOU STILL SATISFIED WITH THEM OR IS THERE ANYTHING
YOU'D LIKE TO CHANGE?
Since now we have created 2 opuses.
The first was created in November of Anno 1999 under the title "Release
The Black Of My Soul" and was limited to 50 copies that were given to chosen
people. Only 2 copies were given in Greece, all the others were spread
in Europe and some to U.S.A. This demo was only for the supremacy of hateful,
primitive and primordial Black Metal, nothing more, nothing less. In April
of Anno 2000 we reopened the gateways to Abyssia for the second time by
unleashing our second opus "Nightfall In The Ancient Woods". As I told
you before 4 words are enough to describe it, CHAOS, DARKNESS, HATE, SORROW...This
demo is limited to 333 copies and it's almost sold out. We are absolutely
satisfied with both of them and we don't want to change anything because
they will lose their originality. I hope you understand me...
6.HOW WAS YOUR DEMO ACCEPTED? WHAT
DID FANS, MAGAZINES, ZINES SAY? HAVE YOU SENT IT TO ANY LABEL? WHICH WERE
THEIR REACTIONS? WHICH WAS THE BEST AND WHICH WAS THE WORST REVIEW?
We don't care about what people
say. I create ANTICHRISTIAN BLACK ART and I'm proud of it. Our name is
known from Finland to Mexico and from America to Malaysia. We don't want
to be commercial so we don't want to speak with labels. Our best review
was on a fanzine in THAILAND, INFERNAL DEMON if I remember well and the
worst on Hellenic METAL HAMMER. In these "magazine" they call us "Nazi,
satanists, racists, antichrists..." and many more, they think that they
can harm us but they don't know anything about us, we live in darkness
and this is our weapon, we don't give a fuck about the Hellenic mags that
have no relation with underground.
7.HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO PROMOTE YOUR
WORK? WHICH IS THE MOST IDEAL SONG TO REPRESENT YOUR WORK?
From the 333 copies only the last
20 are available. We have distributors all over the world, ICHOR in Finland,
Ordo Obscuri Domini in Italy, AXA VALAHA in Rumania, BIGHOUSE in Bulgaria,
XIBALBA in Mexico, DESASTRIOUS in America, BLACK CIRCLE in France and many
more all over the world. An ideal song for us? Sure a song that is drowned
in blasphemy and desecration!!!
8.HAVE YOU DONE ANY LIVE SHOWS? HOW
IS IT OR HOW WOULD YOU IMAGINE IT TO BE A TYPICAL SPIRITUAL WINTERMOON
LIVE?
Since now we have played live twice.
The concept of our live is very close to a ritual, we don't use electric
light, only torches and candles. We do merciless cutting flesh and we mix
our blood with the blood of the cut goatheads that decorate the stage.
This September we will play live again with NAER MATARON, UNHOLY ARCHANGEL,
WAR GRINDER and maybe with GOATVOMIT. It will be hellish...
9.WHY DO YOU THINK METAL KEEPS INVOLVING
SO MUCH RELIGION AND MYSTICISM?
Only Black Metal has this gift.
I told you again before I don't give a fuck about the metal scene. Black
Metal is something different, something magical. Black Metal is dead and
you can't kill or harm something that is already dead. This supremacy born
the mysticism and religion communion into the music.
10.WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR THE
PHENOMENON OF THE RACIST IDEOLOGIES OBSERVED IN THE EXTREME METAL SCENE?
WHICH ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

WHITE SKIN/BLACK SOUL. I hope you understand...
11.YOU USE NICKNAMES. WHY ARE YOU DOING
THIS? DO YOU THINK IT HELPS YOU CREATE AN AURA OF MYSTICISM AROUND YOU?
Nothing is based in luck. Everything
is based on a ritual path, the "nicknames", the corpsepainting, the war
equipment, everything. With all these we have the shape of what our souls
provide, it's very difficult to explain that to you with human words.
12.MANY BLACK METAL BANDS SAY THAT
THEY HATE PEOPLE AND DON'T WANT ANY CONNECTION WITH THE REST OF THE WORLD.
HOWEVER, THEY RELEASE ALBUMS AND SO THEY "NEED", "SEARCH" FOR THE RECOGNITION
OF THE FANS. ISN'T THIS A LITTLE STRANGE?
This is the plague of the scene.
These pathetic scums are not part of our hierarchy, they're not involved
in the cult of the true left hand path. We don't care about them, they
are doomed to rot eternally in heaven...
13.AND SUDDENLY BLACK METAL BECOMES
POPULAR! MORE AND MORE NEW BANDS POP OUT SIGNING WITH BIG LABELS. HOW DO
YOU FIND ALL THIS? WOULD YOU RECORD AN ALBUM FOR A HUGE LABEL IF YOU WERE
GIVEN THE CHANCE?
Of course not. I have chosen my
path. Look, I'm part of the underground scene, if I go to a "huge label",
I will stamp all my ideology, I will be a part of the jewish machine and
you imagine how disgust I feel for the jews...
14.IF TIME TRAVEL WAS POSSIBLE, WHICH
HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHY? WHAT WOULD YOU MISS
THE MOST FROM OUR TIME?
I have 2 dreams. The first is to
be soldier in the second world war and kill without punishment and the
second is to live back in the centuries in Peru in a place of HAYU MARYA.
There were the Shamans who invoked the spirits and trespassed in the spirit
world through the Astrogates. What I would miss more from nowadays is being
away from the destruction of jedeo-christianity that is taking place at
this time...
