ABOUT THEM!
1.FIRST OF ALL POINT OUT THE MOST
SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS OF THE BAND’S HISTORY. WHICH IS THE CURRENT LINE UP?
The band has been existed since
1993, in 1994 we released the demo ”orchesthrash” and then in 1998a mcd
“killed or be killed” and finally in 2002 the album “fallen angel”. The
band is composed of sebastien/ lead guitar and lead vocals, Fred / bass
guitar, bady/ guitar and Roland/ drums.
2. WHY DID YOU NAME THE BAND SWEET
SILENCE? YOUR MUSIC HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SILENCE AND SWEETNESS. SO, DID
YOU DO IT IN ORDER TO “DISTRACT” PEOPLE? DON’T YOU THINK THAT THE BAND’S
NAME SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE AN INDICATOR OF THE MUSIC?
In 1993 before releasing the first
demo we had to find a name among all those we have had chosen and the only
one we agreed on was Sweet Silence, I realized later on that it was the
name of a studio in Denmark where metallica recorded an album. I don’t
think that the name of the band is in connection with the music we play.
But have a look at the name “megadeth” or « metallica », «
kreator », « anthrax », and «exodus»; do
you think that those names are in connection with the music?
3. GIVE US YOUR OWN DESCRIPTION FOR
YOUR MUSIC AND NAME SOME OF YOUR MOST BELOVED BANDS AND ALBUMS THAT HAVE
INFLUENCED YOU.
We play power thrash music; we
are rooted in the thrash of the 1980’s (metallica, megadeth, and testament)
4. MANY CHANGES IN YOUR LINE UP OCCURRED.
WHY? IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO FIND PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME AIMS AND DREAMS
WITH YOU?
No of course not, what do you think?
The fact is that people do not want to work and they prefer the good side
of music, but it is a hard work. You can’t give a good show if you are
not prepared.
5. YOU RECENTLY RELEASED “FALLEN ANGEL”.
CAN YOU TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT? WHERE WAS IT RECORDED, WHO WAS THE
PRODUCER, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU? ARE YOU STILL SATISFIED WITH IT OR
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO CHANGE?
After ten years of existence we
wanted to release an album, so we looked for a label which could help us
to do that. Anvil corp. arrived just on time and produced the album, we
have been in a studio for three weeks, and the album has been recorded
in a French studio in Paris. We are largely satisfied by the result. But
I’m sure that the next one will be even better.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR LYRICS TALKING ABOUT?
FROM WHICH FIELDS DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION? CAN YOU TELL US A FEW THINGS
ABOUT EACH ONE OF THEM? WHY DON’T YOU HAVE A BOOKLET WITH THE LYRICS IN?
The lyrics have been written by
several people so that it is very difficult for me to say anything about
it. Free is about a man who runs to save his life, indeed it is very difficult
to survive in such a world in spite of our advanced technologies. Dark
side of life is about the obscure side of life and about the difficulty
to live in harmony. Don’t know is about the non understanding that one
can feel when you lose someone or the beloved person. My own way is the
contrary of dark side follow your own way and do not listen to anybody.
Devil I am is the about the dark that anyone carries in oneself Pocket
Nazi is a song against fascism Who killed me is about a man who is dead
and who wants to know why he is dead and who killed him Violence is about
the violence in this world. Wild is like my own way: do what you want and
believe in yourself. Encyclopaedia of murder is about a serial killer and
the pleasure he takes in killing people. We didn’t put a booklet in the
dig pack because we want to put the lyrics in different languages and we’ll
do it on our website.
7. YOUR ARTWORK IS AMAZING. DO YOU
BELIEVE THAT IT’S IMPORTANT FOR A BAND TO HAVE A GOOD ARTWORK? YOU HAVE
TWO ANGELS, ONE IN THE COVER AND ANOTHER ONE INSIDE. IS THERE A CONNECTION
BETWEEN THEM? WHAT DOES EACH ONE OF THEM REPRESENT?
Indeed it is very important for
us to have a beautiful artwork, a cd is not just a product it is also a
sort of extension of ourselves, and we wanted THIS artwork. The two angels
are the good and the evil, water and fire, the duality that is inherent
in all human beings and the fact that one can shift from side to another,
what way will the angel take? Next episode with the next album!
8. YOU’VE DONE SOME LIVE SHOWS. DO
YOU REMEMBER HOW YOU FELT THE FIRST TIME YOU GOT ON STAGE? DO YOU REMEMBER
ANY FUNNY OR WEIRD INCIDENTS OCCURING WHILST YOU WERE PERFORMING LIVE?
The first concert was a festival
and we won, it was our first concert and we earned money, COOL!!!! There
would be too many things to say about live performances. Once we used explosive
on stage but there was too much smoke so we couldn’t see anything during
three songs.
9. HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED
FROM THE METALLERS IN THE FUTURE?
Nothing I don’t think I’m an example
to follow, I’m just a musician like others, our gift is music and that’s
why there aren’t any photos in the dig pack.
10. IF YOUR MUSIC WAS AN EMOTION, WHAT
WOULD IT BE?
11.IF SUDDENLY ELECTRICITY CEASED TO
EXIST, WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN TO METAL? WOULD IT BE FORGOTTEN OR
TRANSFORMED?
Music is universal it was created
long before fire or anything else, it is a kind of federator for people,
metal exists in different shapes, the spirit is the essential matter.
12. IF YOU COULD BE A HISTORICAL CHARACTER
FOR A DAY, WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE AND WHY?
If you can consider him as a historical
character then I would be god because he is the only one who is supposed
to be able to change things.
13. YOU ARE GRANTED ONE WISH. WHAT
WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE IN THE WORLD?
I would create the world
without men, life would be better for animals, the soil and the environment.
14. WHAT TITLE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS

In this violence you will be able
