CK's Anime, PSP Games, & Thoughts

Welcome to CK's Anime, PSP Games, & Thoughts!  This website will mainly deal with hobbies I enjoy.  You will find personal reviews on some of the latest & past anime from Japan, some anime toys/collectables from my personal collection, & PSP games.  Since I'm a newbie in making websites, you all have to bear with me with the site's layout as I'm using this site as a personal learning experience.  Also, updates may be slow due to my daily activities.  Please make sure that you have Java supported & Flash as well as the site will be improving time to time.  Feel free to drop me an email at bckl929 (at) yahoo dot ca anytime!

Last week, my sister got a laptop for her university studies.  As a result, her desktop computer is removed & given to other family members.  I wanted to take her CPU as it is a Core 2 Duo & I'm using a Pentium D.  I thought switching the CPUs would work as my motherboard supports Core 2 Duo & Extreme CPUs.  But it doesn't.  As a result, the BIOS settings got screwed up when I switched the CPUs back (apparently my sister's motherboard doesn't support Pentium D CPUs).

My computer kept crashing a lot due to CPU over temperature & overvoltage problems.  Underclocking solves it a bit, but the computer runs very slow.  It took me a long time to fix this as I tried to quickly go to the BIOS settings to control the CPU fan.  It took me about three days to finally get it done (would have been faster if I didn't have work during that time).  Things look fine now & I'm finishing up on my parent's computer now.  They have my sister's computer & I need to redo the OS system as their old computer was running on Windows 2000 instead of XP.

Back on track.  In anime news, Crunchyroll grabs Myself; Yourself, Kemono no Sou-ja Erin, & Koihime Musou.  Sentai Filmworks takes You're Under Arrest II, Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, Blue Drop, Special A, & Tears to Tiara (was going to watch that).

Now that I got my sister's 19" widescreen monitor, I'm back to dual screen again.  Problem is managing the resolution size as the primary monitor is 16:9 & the secondary is 4:3 which causes my wallpaper on the latter monitor to be squeezed & stretched. I'll figure out how to fix this soon.

Anyways, with a second monitor I should be able to move faster with this reimaging & moving of this place even though I was without a computer for a few days.  Need to readjust myself in using two monitors again though; even with one being a widescreen now.  The goal is now to make this place more suited for widescreen monitors as it's pretty much the standard now.

September 7, 2009

These days, I've been pretty active.  What I mean by that is getting out of the house a lot & staring at a computer screen less.  Been going out a lot on my days off.  Aside from badminton, I've been visiting some old friends & going to a couple of outings.  Plus, shopping is one of them (for some strange reason).

Because of my absence from home, redoing this place has slowed down quite a bit.  I still plan to get this place done & continue to work on this even though I've been very slow in the anime industry in terms of shows & figures.  It's just time & age has been kicking in.

That's all for now.  More activities to do again!

August 31, 2009

After writing last week's posting, I went to play some more badminton.  This time, I wasn't sore as before.  Maybe because of the court booking time being one hour that week & having a day where we had doubles play.  But I did get sore on my first day back to work, but not too bad.  I plan to be more active by doing some jogging everyday.  But I haven't got around in doing it since I end up coming home a bit late from work or feeling the need to eat.

Last week, I woke up early on the day that Batman: Arkham Asylum was released.  I brought the game at Best Buy at that insane low price.  Was going to get Dissidia Final Fantasy too, but my main focus was on Batman since the cards on the shelves were almost all gone when I went in the store.  I didn't think I was lucky enough to get a copy due to my previous experience with the store for getting Street Fighter IV CE (which I still don't have).  But I went back to the store to get Dissidia in the afternoon at a fairly good price as well.  I haven't touched Batman yet as I'm still downloading the Joker challenge maps (I don't have my PS3 on a lot), but I have played Dissidia.  Quick impression of it: fun game, but hard to handle at the start.  I'm still having problems with the controls & how the battle system functions.

Anyways, progress on this site is going very well now as almost all of my complete anime reviews are complete.  Just have to do the new/not yet uploaded ones, some past news archives, selling, & links sections.  I don't plan to keep the guestbook & am thinking about setting up a forum.  After the offline stuff is done, linking will be a hassle as the urls will be different due to the move.  More time consuming stuff to do.  I hope to get this done in September or at least before Geocities goes off.

August 24, 2009

Last week, I got back on track in being active in badminton..  Because I haven't played the sport for so many years, I got dehydrated very fast.  About five minutes around just from warming up.  I did do some stretches, but I didn't do it for 30 minutes which is the amount of time that I didn't start playing due to a friend going back home to get his rackets.

There was suppose to be four people playing, but it got cut down to two.  Played about one & a half hour with three breaks in-between.  With the exception of my left arm, my whole body was aching for a number of days.  It was already tired out when I was playing since I never got my whole body active for a long time.  It's going to be a every Monday & Tuesday thing from now on.  Hopefully not only do I get a healthy body, but my muscles are fully healed for later today.

In anime news, a bit of a slowdown in the licensing department. Viz licensed Monster.  That is all.

August 17, 2009

At work, the new guest service agent is doing pretty well.  Got the theory down, but needs to work on implementing it to the guest.  In other words, working with actual guests.  It's rush training for her & I'm not really doing much a good work on her.  Trying new approaches since the recent ones that were trained by me seem to attach to me too much.  Need to tone it down a bit.

In anime news, Crunchyroll continues to roll it in.  They got Hanasakeru Seishounen & Hyakko in their lineup now.  The anime world is slowly becoming one.

As for this site, things are moving very slow than expected.  Reason is too much outings now, which is actually a good thing.  Gets me some fresh air & stop staring at screens a lot.  See it at work & see it at home.  My vision would go worse than it is.  But I do plan to move this as fast as possible before Geocities shuts down.  What to smooth link to the new site as much as I can.

August 10, 2009

Last week as a week of outings for me.  Aside from family stuff (one of which was celebrating my dad's birthday), I hung out with some old & new friends.  First, started out in meeting an old co-worker from the hotel.  Talked about her future (wedding) & her workplace & we talked about my workplace.

Later in the week, went drinking with the shuttle company owner & with a couple of GMs from other hotels that the shuttle owner has been working for.  I'm not a drinker, but I do drink at times only on certain occasion.  Cause of my lack of training in my alcohol level, I got an headache drinking four glasses of Casers (single shot).  Not strong stuff, but it got to me.  The guy wanted to go clubbing next, but I refused since I got work the next morning & don't know if I was going to get a hangover.  Luckily I didn't go as the guy told me that he didn't remember how he went home after that.

Got news about my Canon 40D camera.  The repair cost is now in the $1000 range.  Of course, it's not worth it since a new & better one can be brought instead at a bit more.  So, I may settle with the Mark I 5D as my main camera for taking pics of my collectables.  When it's going to start is questionable at this stage due to website designing.

For progress on this site, very slow again due to the outings I had last week.  May be the same again this week due to a restaurant wanting some of our hotel members to go due some private taste testing on some new menu items.  Plus, I got my hand full on a new guest service agent at the hotel that is starting working today.  Although I would be training her on Wednesday, I need to prepare for her as she has no hotel service in terms of being in the workforce.

Anyways, I hope to really get this going!

August 3, 2009

The new month is here & summer is almost to the end.  With that, work has strangely picked up on the wrong time.  Personally, I think this recession thing is over.  The stock markets are fine & some banks are reporting in good profit (at least the US ones).  It's just consumers are still scared to spend money.  If more consumers are spend, everything should be fine.  By the way, Happy BC day to all British Columbians!

In anime news, Viz licenses some new anime.  Haven't heard of them for quite some time in terms of their activities.  They got Kekkaishi, Inuyashi the Final Act, & Vampire Knight.  Still haven't finished Vampire Knight yet & I have no plans in watching the second season.  It's a bit boring for me.

As for the website itself, I haven't done much progress.  Why?  I got sick from my car's A/C stupidity enough.  The record breaking heat temperatures are kind of hard to adapt to when you go outside to the hot weather & sit inside a cold freezing car.  So, I spent a lot of time in bed recovering as I got it on my days off.  Going to work with a sore throat & coughing like hell is a pain!  Anyways, I'm still not 100% better, but plan to go slowly on reimaging my site.

July 27, 2009

For some reason, this month at my workplace isn't treating me well.  Every time I start a work week, something strange happens or gets left over for me.  Although the hotel is getting busier & busier now, I don't have time to do want I need to do.  I get work leftover to be done the next day & I'm all burnt out after ending my shift.  When I try to solve the problem, it either gets resolved or turn into something more troublesome.

One situation was from last week on my first day back.  When I tried to move reservations from one room type to other, the system just cancels the reservation.  I thought it was done by the guest themselves until I saw it appear on a second reservation.  Created hell for me as the hotel was fully booked.  Luckily, my GM was accepting about this situation even though he was furious that day on many things.  This whole work month hasn't been friendly to me.

This website is still moving very slowly.  I'm almost halfway done with the complete anime reviews & I need to work on the other reviews that haven't been put up yet.  A lot of work on me who is stressing out too much this summer.  Luckily I decide to move that August re-launch date up some more.

Aside from redoing reviews, I may make new reviews as well.  Got another camera which is the Canon Mark I EOS 5D.  My dad got that from a trade off for doing something for the old owner.  Haven't tried the camera yet, but plan to use it since the 40D haven't return yet.  That is if I got the time for it.

July 20, 2009

Right after last week's posting, I received two PSP games in the mail.  Got Welcome to Pia Carrot!! G.P. Portable Limited Edition & Miku Hatsune Project DIVA from YesAsia.  I was disappointed in not getting the Nendo-petit Miku even though I pre-ordered the game back in May.  But my main concern was the game really.  That mini figure would have made my day really.  DAMN!

But a good thing about the delivery is what the Welcome to Pia Carrot!! G.P. LE box offered.  The uniform artbook that came with the game showed some uniforms for the upcoming Welcome to Pia Carrot!! 4 game.  I didn't know about this & was excited about it as I went to look for some information about it.  One of my favourite character from Pia Carrot!! 3, Akemi Hasegawa, makes a return in a new image.  Don't like her new long hair much, but I'm still excited.  All this excitement lead me to wanting to get my PC version of Welcome to Pia Carrot!! G.P. started as I haven't touched it yet.  But I need to finish with Jingai Makyo first as I don't want play two different games at once while taking info down for making a special section for them on my website (yes, I plan to do a Welcome to Pia Carrot!! G.P. section).

Because of my "getting back to Jingai Makyo" surge, I plan to get the new site up & running sooner.  At least some parts of it.  New stuff will be made slowly along the way there as this old place will provide links going to those pages.  A minor problems with this are the layout & broken links on the new site.  You will have to use the Back button on your browser a lot due to 404s.  It would at least make the transition a bit smooth.  Problem would be time.  Don't know how soon this will be done.

New stuff.  In anime news, Bandai Entertainment makes a surprising move in licensing Kannagi & releasing on sale at the same time of the announcement with video streaming on Anime News Network.  Very interesting approach even though the DVDs & streaming videos are in subs only.  FUNimation keeps moving with the licensing of Casshern Sins & Eden of the East at Otacon 2009.

July 13, 2009

A bunch of licensed anime announced since the start of this month.  Most of them came from the recent Anime Expo 2009.  Crunchyroll gets Aoi Hana, Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Fight Ippatsu! Juuden chan!!, & Kanamemo.  Bandai picks up Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows.  FUNimation has World Destruction & Sengoku Basara.  Don't know some of them as I'm starting to lose touch on anime a bit.  Why? Cause of the remodelling (or relocating) of this site.

I finished with the Artbooks & Illustration Books section & the major focus is on the Anime reviews as it's very chunky & a lot left to do.  At the same time, I plan to prepare the new web hosting site in making the links.  I don't plan to upload anything yet as I usually have my pages updated with dates.  Although I don't see myself upload everything in one day, I may keep it on the same date even though it may be up to a week late.  Easier & probably faster this way.

Anyways, aside from the Anime section, I still have the Selling, Links, Past News Archieves, & planetarian sections left to do.  planetarian will be last as I'm thinking if I should keep it the same style as it is or something similar to the Pia Carrot!! 3 section.  Could be something totally new.

Although I plan to get all this done by August if I get lucky, I will be way behind in a lot of things in the reviews for PSP games, anime, & collectables.  Even though PSP games is the worse in terms of updates, I think the collectables will be the one.  Still waiting for my Canon camera & I don't know when it will get repaired & shipped back.

July 6, 2009

What I thought may be a hard search, I found a new webhosting site right after I typed up last week's news!  But I need to put up a temp page in order for it to stay active.  Rules state that I need to have something up for their staff to see if it's appropriate & not illegal within 15 days.  Gonna make a page linking here for the time being just to hold it since I can't remodel everything in such a short time period in my conditions.

News on my Canon camera finally come up.  Basically they want our permission to fix it as it's going to cost $380.  Even if we don't fix it, we have to pay for having the camera ship back to us from Toronto.  Since it's there, might as well fix it.  Hopefully it's going to get done this month so I can rip some figures out for model shots.

Progress for this place is as follows: Downloads is now completed & currently working on the Artbooks & Illustration Books section.  After that, it's going to be full focus on the Anime reviews.  Also, I need to redo all my links for the new webhost.  Too much work!  I'm going to see if I can actually go for the August launch or else it looks like it's going to be October (hope not though!)

June 29, 2009

Although this is old news, I thought I should mention this.  On June 25, Michael Jackson passes away due to a cardiac arrest.  As we all know, there are fans & haters for the guy.  But we should all at least pay respects for him even though there is/was a lot of negative things said against him.  Although I'm not a big fan of him now, I did grow up listening to Thriller & was (& still am) impressed with his music.  Of course, his dance skills are top notch!  Nevertheless, rest in peace, Michael.

As of now, our Canon camera is still in repairs.  Although I still have the old Sony camera that's working fine, I'm thinking about getting a DSLR for myself.  Aside from using it for anime review pics, I'm thinking of expanding my camera skills a bit more.  Should learn to appreciate things more really.

Not having the camera around isn't too much of a bad thing since my site is still under works.  I should be able to finish off the Downloads section this week or else next week for sure.  Next will be the artbooks section.  Anime reviews are still going at snail pace.  After finishing the Artbooks section, I will put a huge amount of attention to the anime reviews with the Past News Archives done on the side.  I'm actually doing that section on the side at a very slow pace since it has a lot of re-linking to many places.  Too much work.

But as I'm redoing this place, I find out that Geocities.ca is closing in October 26!  Although my reworking for this site & my special section is like a waste of time, I'll continue on this as I find a new webspace host.  Problem with this now is that I need to redo all the links!  ARGH! As the estimated re-launch date was set for August, I need to find a new host (free one of course) as it would make more sense to put the site there.

June 22, 2009

The remodelling of this place continues!  Close to the halfway point of the Downloads section.  It's not too bad as I thought it would be as things are running smoothly than I thought.  The anime reviews is still too large as I'm not even near 25% done.

As you may know from my past postings that our Canon camera was sent for repairs.  Up to now, we still haven't got it back.  Thus, I haven't been taking pictures of some of my new stuff even though they are still in boxes.  I may go back to my old Sony camera if it takes too long & my redoing of this place done.

Until then, keep waiting as I plan to get this place done by August.

June 15, 2009

First off, anime news that I haven't been reporting on here.  A lot of it is from April & a couple from May.  In April, Rightstuf got Rental Magica & Crunchyroll took Chii's New Address.  FUNimation doesn't let that month slip away by taking Phantom ~ Requiem for the Phantom ~ in their continuously growing lineup.

In May, FUNimation grabs Spice and Wolf.  I believe that they got the OVA of Spice and Wolf as well.  Crunchyroll surprisingly takes School Days as I felt this show wasn't going to come here.

Update about this site.  The PSP section is now complete (just have one game that needs to do a brief review, but I decided to hold out on it since it's a LE game that's not opened yet).  Next up is the Downloads section which I'll be starting later on this week.  I don't think it is a big section if I remember correctly.  But the re-uploading of stuff is time consuming.  Again, along side is the anime reviews which is still a lot to do.

Again, continue to wait as this site is still redone than updating.  Projected completion time looks like August now.

June 8, 2009

Thanks to a slowdown in business, I'm getting off work an hour early than normal for four of my work days.  Reason for this is to save cost.  A lot of the staff are getting this too.  Although it cuts back on my pay, I don't really mind.  Getting off early gives me a bit more time to do other things & escape work.

Progress here is moving pretty well.  PSP is almost finished & I'll be moving to Downloads next.  Reason is because the downloads are gone since April due to Yahoo! removing the Briefcase service.  I've found another site to upload them & I may add more stuff to existing articles due to the large storage space on that site.  But I want to avoid some "problems" if possible.  If I got time, I may think about it.  Find discs & searching them will be a pain though.

Anime reviews are more time consuming than I thought.  There is so many & I didn't really notice that.  If it comes down to it, I may upload the new site with some of the unfinished anime reviews on it.  I think that section will really hold things up.  Bad thing about those unfinished reviews will be the linking problem.  You would probably need to retype my home page again to fix it.

Again, keep on waiting!

June 1, 2009

New month & it's the start of summer (somewhat).  The hotel business isn't looking good.  Very poor performance & numbers not only from us, but all other hotels in the city.  Neighbouring cities aren't doing too well too.

The media here is reporting that the tourism industry is going to suffer heavily this summer.  Less people travelling, one major cruise ship company moves out from Canada, etc.  It was only a couple of months or so back that the same media was saying that the jobs in the tourism industry is in big demand.   If all of this is based on the bad economy, I don't know what those reporters were smoking.

Anyways, last weeks I've been getting some new stuff in the mail.  Not anime stuff though.  I've been collecting Perfume stuff.  Not the fragrance things, the Japanese music trio.  Even since I saw a Youtube clip of a Sony Rolly dancing to Perfume's song Polyrhythm, I fell in love with the music.  Of course, I want to get a Rolly too.  But that's going to wait.  Too expensive.  Even in Japan it was expensive when I was hunting for one there.

The love of Perfume is making me nuts.  Started out getting their first non-best-collection CD GAME & it lead me in getting other singles.  Got their latest single One Room Disco (limited edition), Dream Fighter (limited edition), & their first photo album Perfume Portfolio last week.  I would never imagine nor believe that I would get an idol based photobook, but it actually happened!

In honestly, I think the girls look a bit older & lesser cute than before (my favourite Nochi falls in this) but I still got the photobook.  Another category in burning my money in this bad economy.  Plus side about this is helping the economy a bit by moving money around.

As a result, PERFUME HUNTING TIME!  Actually doing this now by collecting all their singles (even ones that I don't really like) in LE form if there is & re-purchasing GAME in LE form (got regular edition since I was slow in the game) if I can find it at a good price.  Heck, may think about doing a special section about them.  Pretty silly for someone at my age in this society where we judge people like crazy.

Enough about Perfume, but something about my website.  Still moving slowly even though my paid work isn't driving me nuts comparing to last year.  Anime reviews are still being redo & incomplete ones are being completed.  PSP game reviews are almost halfway done with brief reviews/previews being made.  Still got Artbooks & Downloads to do as big major sections.  Past news is being done when I feel like it & minor ones like selling & links are put aside maybe until the end.

Again, keep waiting!

May 25, 2009

If you are noticing that some pics (mainly the PSP small gave covers) are missing, don't worry.  I deleted them due to the reimaging of this place.  Besides, you got the text links to navigate from.  Please bear with it for awhile.  Also, you may notice that I haven't achieve my news items.  Goin to keep it like this until the new site goes up.  Being lazy as it will save work & time.

The collectables section is now complete & I've moved to the PSP section now.  Anime reviews are still going at a slow pace.  After everything is done, link check is a must as I'm sort out things to make my storage & database cleaner.  Then I'm going to put up a couple of new sections (CD gallery is one of them & possible a forum as well).  A Perfume (popular J-pop trio) section may go up as since they are starting to go all over me now.  With the new site up, I will pour out a bunch of reviews (mainly anime ones still sitting around & some brief PSP games) at the same time.  Makes up for lost time.

Until then, keep wating!

May 18, 2009

Before I start things off, Happy Victoria Day to the people that celebrate this holiday today.

Even since I came back from my Asia trip, things aren't going well for me.  From jetlag to headache to now cold.  Runny nose & sore throat is what I got.  At least it's not swine even if I work in the tourism & hospitality industry.  It was originally massive headaches, heavy sore throat, & constant running nose.  I nearly had diarrhea at one day.  Almost the sign of H1N1.  Just missing the vomit part.  Slowly getting better.

As a side note, I am still moving on this reimaging of this place.  But the pace is going slow again due to this cold.  Collectables section is almost done.  Just need to fix some links due to new section names & the Pia Carrot!! 3 special section needs to have some of the links updated to the Pia Carrot!! 3 collectables.  Just got the Stuff about collecting articles to do.

I plan to do the Downloads or PSP section next.  Don't know yet at this point as the Anime reviews is ongoing as well.  Plus, I do plan to make new reviews on anime shows that I finished watching.  Most of the shows were finished watching before I left to Asia, but never got around in doing them cause of the reimaging.

Anyways, back to work (& sleep)!

May 11, 2009

Still under the influence of my Asia trip (jetlag seems to be gone, but I get headaches at random times with waking up being the most), I'm not able to take pictures of my collection for a while.  My dad broken our Canon 40D camera when he was trying to repair it.  There were two connector pins for the CF card that got pushed down due to my dad putting the card the wrong direction & caused a couple of the pins to bend.  I don't know what he did when he opened the camera to get it damaged.  I could use my old Sony camera, but that thing is hard to get a stable picture.  In conclusion, we're going to get a new camera.  That is until I found out that it has been sent for repairs.  Until then, my collectables won't get a photo shoot for an uncertain period of time.  I got a couple of new figurines that I want to try out *coughharuhisuzumiyagirlscough*

Anyways, I was going to briefly show what I got from my trip.  Was going to show it last week, but didn't have the energy for it.  Most of the stuff I got was from Japan.  Not a big loot thought.  From China, I got this jade necklace from my aunt.

What I used to take these pics is my new cellphone, the Samsung Omnia (aka SGH-I900) that I got from Hong Kong. I noticed that the quality of the pics isn't good as I'm still learning on how to use the phone.  I have modded it a bit & having some fun with it.  Plus, I heard that the 5MP camera it has isn't too great indoors.

Reason I'm linking than showing pics here is the "improvement" on this site.  Don't want to redo this while revamping.

I'm back in working on upping this site.  Almost done with the currently upped collectables reviews & slowly on the anime reviews that already up.  Next will be the PSP section or Downloads as my main objective is to finish off sections with pics.

Until then, keep your eyes opened as I should be done with this place by summer.

May 4, 2009

Although I returned from Asia last week, I'm still under jetlag.  I can't seem to adapt back to Pacific time this time when I had no problems with this in the past.  Probably because I haven't been travelling for a long time, gotten old, or time was very there as I was rushing & living an intense lifestyle there.

I originally wanted to show a brief summary of what I got in Asia, but I can't as I seem to be very tired.  Although I went back to work yesterday, I got two days off starting today.  Back to old work schedule which is a good thing as I have time to catch up some sleep!  Until I can get back to normal, no updates again.

April 7, 2009

Sorry for the late update.  Was too business with things; which were finishing Resident Evil 5 with my sister (on amateur mode since we are amateurs) & getting ready for my trip to Asia.  Yes, we are going to Asia.  So far, it's Hong Kong & Japan.  Leaving exactly a week from now, so there may not be an update next week as we do final preparations the night before.

Although I haven't file the March 2009 postings , I'll just make this quick with some anime news.

It seems the world is getting more closer & closer in being one.  At least for the Japanese with their anime.  Crunchyroll  is showing Hayate no Gotoku second season.  FUNimation is showing Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood online a week after the Japanese release.  Animax is showing all their Spring 2009 shows in real time in all parts of Asia.

Next update will probably not happen until May.  Hope to get some pics up here on my Asia trip.

March 30, 2009

Not much to say since I still haven't got much done here in terms of updating.  Plus, today's my sister's birthday so I will spending a lot of time celebrating it.  So much for this & the final update for this month.

But to say something at least, Collectables section is very close to completion as the anime reviews are moving a bit smoothly & slowly.

As a reminder, today's the last day to get stuff from the Downloads section as Yahoo! Briefcase is closing today.  I've backup everything from there & thinking where to put the files now.  Until I've completed the Collectables section, those downloads files won't be available for some time.  So I suggest getting them now if you haven't.

March 23, 2009

Last week before posting last week's update, I got Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition from HMV.  Had to drive to Oakridge Centre to get it & I was lucky to get the store clerk to hold the last copy for me.  When I got my PS3 there, they told me they don't hold things.  Guess times changed.

Probably like most people, the CE is a waste of money.  I actually didn't plan on getting this until my sister asked me if I was going to.  My mind was still set in finding the CE version of Street Fighter IV (& I still am).  Although the CE for RE5 has some nice stuff, I was pretty upset on what I actually got.

First, my steelbook has a broken clip which is used to hold booklets on the side.  The top one is broken.  When I opened the case, I didn't know what that part was until I went for the instruction booklet.

Second, my Chris Redfield figure has his right hand "chopped" off inside the packaging.  I thought the right hand needed to be placed on his wrist.  It wasn't until I looked at the figure closely that I realized that the hand broke off.  For some reason, the figure doesn't look like PVC.  It's more like coldcast material judging on how the broken surface looks like.

Aside from those two problems, everything else is fine.  I was thinking about using that messenger bag for my possible vacation, but I saw how small it was.  Plus, it had a fair amount of loose thread here & there.

For the game itself, it's pretty fun.  Played with my sister up to the beginning of chapter 2.  Died a lot & couldn't get a handle on the controls; even up to now.  The only Resident Evil game we played was Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.  I only played a little bit of it.  My sister finished the game.  Nevertheless, I think the controls on that game is much different to RE5.  But I do feel that I made a good purchase on this game as it's very fun & addicting with co-op mode.  But the $99.99 price for the CE was a bit too much.  I should have got the game itself instead at $59.99 when Superstore had a sale on it.

In anime news, more Crunchyroll licenses.  They got La Corda d'Oro (both ~primo passo~ & ~secondo passo) & Shangri-La coming on streaming video for April 2009.  I'm not too familiar with these shows, but I think I heard of the series names at least.  I think they were series that are geared to a female audience.

As for the progress on this site, I do plan to get everything up (including reviews that were missing & left for storage) when everything is revamped.  Reason for this is due to the possibility that I'm gone for vacation for two weeks.  Nothing will be updated then.  As of now, I do my collectables reviews on my days off at work (uploading & redoing pics is a hassle) & anime reviews on my work days as they are a bit faster to do (plus too many of them).

As a reminder, Yahoo! Briefcase is going down this month.  Since most of my download files are there, you better hurry to the Downloads section if you want something there.  Cause it's going to be a long time before I get to that section next.  Artbooks & PSP would be the next round.

Before I get to some details, workplace rant again!

Last week, I mentioned about my anger & not accepting apologizes.  Being the kind of person that doesn't know to stay anger very long & let bygones be bygones, things have smoothed out with my co-worker.  But, I'm still angry about the situation & our friendship level is going to be down a little & needs to be reworked.

Back on track, I also mentioned about going to Asia in April.  Basically, my father wants the whole family to go to Hong Kong probably one more time.  Reason why I said that is because my father has been going to the hospital at times to get his body checked.  Apparently, I think his kidney or some other organ has a 2cm object inside.  My guess is it's a kidney stone.  Doctors are saying it may be cancer, but high chances that it's not.  However, they want to conduct more examinations to make sure.  The decision on this trip will be determine on the results at the end of this month or early next month.  His next examination is I think March 27th.

Saying it's all good (most likely is), my family will be going to Hong Kong for sure & one other destination.  It's either China or Japan.  I'm not too itchy about China since I've been to Beijing already & my parents say that Shanghai wasn't that great when they went there last year.  But they want to go to one area in China which I think was Yellow River when translated.

For Japan, Tokyo is the location.  My dad is itching to go to Akibahara for electronic stuff; particularly for digital camera stuff.  Problem with this is the language barrier, high tour prices which don't go to the places we want or interested in, & not knowing our way around.  It will be our first time in Japan.

For me, I really don't want to go on vacation.  But a lot of people have been telling me to do so since I've been working a lot at the hotel.  If I was to choose, I would to go to Hokkaido instead.  I would like to go somewhere more nature like than city.  Tokyo is more of a three day trip for me as it's mostly shopping.  Although I like anime & video game stuff, the yen price is too strong & the Canadian dollar is too weak in this dipping economy.  After watching the bonus content in the Lucky Star US DVDs, Hokkaido looks very nice.

That place in China would also fit my bill as that place is more nature than city as well.  Thing about that one is probably I will learn some history.

Anyways, I hope to get this place up & running properly before leaving Canada.  I actually got a lot more to do & I still can't believe how much reviews & stuff I got upload here.  It's more than I imagine.  This past week, I didn't really do much as well.  I'm just barely past the halfway point for the collectables & probably less than 10% on the anime reviews.  Aside from layout changes, proofread is redo again as I noticed a lot of missing/misused words & grammar problems.  With the new anime season coming, I'm still far behind this current season.  Worse is no reviews done on them yet!

March 9, 2009

First off, workplace rant.  Starting my workweek, I get a lot of unknown things thrown at me.  Promises of this, promises of that, etc.  I ended up asking my GM if he knew anything of these.  Personally I wouldn't need to ask as I would do them, but many (if not all) were strange things that weren't normal done unless some problems were made to them that needed to be resolved.  But there wasn't.  Those came up as something else though which caused me & my GM to scratch our heads.

Just when I finished all this chaos after leaving work, I get a call from my co-worker later in the day.  She complains to me about this situation about rate change.  To make a long story short, I received a call the day before from another co-worker about what to do about this strange rate where two 5% discounts were added on top of another from a base rate that seemed very low to me.  Didn't know that we had a rate change at the time since it was done when I was off.

Back on track, the co-worker was getting fired up over something petty.  I told her what was told to me from the other co-worker from the previous day & how her name was brought up.  Then she makes a lot of fuss & questions me about this.  After telling her what I don't know anything about this rate thing, she calls me an asshole & hangs up.

Hearing that, I was burning up.  I mentioned that I was pretty pissed up a few weeks ago & I'm actually still am.  That remark from the co-worker really came at a good time as I was furious already before the call.  I was very close in calling my GM's cell to let him know about it & question him on what's going on.  Being her superior, that's really uncalled for.

The next day, I get a note at work from the co-worker which has an apology about the remark & how angry she was.  At the end of the lengthy note, she says that she doesn't mind if I don't accept her apology.  My answer: I don't accept.  Being called an a-hole is one thing, but saying it where I wasn't even involved in something is too much.  My goal was to tell her that I won't accept, but I ignore all this & give her one more chance.

When she came in, I never got the chance to tell her.  While explaining things to her about things to be aware of, she tells me her other problem where it was more serious.  This one is something that I wasn't involved in as well.  Hearing her trying to state her case, I gave up in telling her about her apology.  This is the same thing that started this mess.  Although she tries to explain this to our GM, he doesn't want to hear it as well.  Cause in the end, it was still clearly her mistake.  Problem with her is that she won't accept her mistakes.  I was waiting to see if she would ask me if I got the note, but that never came.  Plus, I wanted to get all the "passing of info" out aside before telling her.  Of course that never gotten a chance.

To make things worse, I've been hearing how she makes herself look better than me about how she's better (based on the GM's comments), how she doesn't make mistakes as me, etc.  I don't know about the GM's comments thing (I do feel it's not true), she's just being full of herself now.  Instead of helping her out, I figure that she should just solve any problems she gets herself.  I will still help & maintain a certain work level, but helping out outside of it would be something I won't be doing until she fixes her attitude & pride problem.

Enough ranting.  What's in the anime news recently?  Nothing much really except that Bandai Entertainment licensed Lucky Star OVA.  Don't know if it will be part of the US volume six of Lucky Star or a separate DVD itself (which I find as a waste as it's only 25 minutes long I think).

As for this site, pace is going a bit fast.  It would have been more smoother if I wasn't more pissed off as it is.  I'm almost half way with the Collectables section & got some anime reviews done.  Once the collectables are done, I think I'll do the artbooks next, then the PSP part.  The downloads will wait until I find a good site to put the files in for download.  I hope to get this whole site finalized before going to Asia in mid April.  Will talk about that next week.

March 2, 2009

New month, old month news into the news archive for February 2009.

These days at work is really going whack.  Pretty much everyone is angry at someone for something.  My GM is getting an earful from almost everyone.  Luckily, I'm nearly not part of the action cause it's really ugly.  Although I'm an assistant manager by title that should get some of the action, I'm not going to get involved since my GM likes to take control of things in the hotel & I'm still at the front desk.

If I was in human resources or be in charge in the hiring of staff, I would step up to this.  But I won't.  Even up to now, I haven't really used my managerial powers on the staff even since I got this position.  I only plan to use it if needed.  Although this current case may call for it, I'm not going to do it.  Even though I know this has been going on for a long time, I'm actually investigating it as I remain in a neutral position.  Pointing fingers is easy, but gathering information to support it isn't.

As much as I'm still pushing this place to get going, something new comes up.  Yahoo! is stopping their briefcase service by March 31, 2009.  Most, if not all, the download files from the downloads section are in there.  Thus, I need to remove them by re-downloading them to my computer & finding a new web storage to put them.  Finding one shouldn't be too hard, but re-doing my pages & getting back those files will be a pain.  Luckily, I haven't started revamping that section so I'm somewhat glad.

I'm now planning to not only focus on revamping this place, but I think I should make some reviews as well even though they will be in the new format.  Although it's not only more work for me, but it may lead to navigation problems for this place.  Some of the links will be moved around, thus leading to dead links & 404s.  I would ask that you avoid using the links on the new formats & use the Back button on your browsers to move around for some time.  Annoying yes, but at least it makes this site fresh with some new stuff.  This is still in the planning phases though.
