Subfamily
Andreninae Latreille
[Family Andrenidae]
Michener (2000) concluded the Andreninae as
primarily holarctic and occur also in eastern and souther Africa, in oriental
region south as far as Malaya peninsula and upto southern India. In Western
Hemisphere the subfamily occurs south to Panama, with disjunct forms in Chile.
Only genus Andrena is worldwide and except Melittoides, rest are
confined to western world and in Africa.
Some of the important references with regard to
different genera of this subfamily are Zavortink (1970s), LaBerge (series during
1960s & 1970s), Warncke (1970s), Popov (1950s), Hirashima (1960s), Tadauchi &
Hirashima (1980s), Moure (1950) and, Rozen (for different larval stages of
different genera during 1970 & 1980s).
