An Annotated                      Catalogue of the

Bee Species of the

Indian Region

 Subfamily Melittinae Schenk

[Family Melittidae]

Subfamily Melittinae was subdivided into Melittinae and Macropidinae (Michener, 1944) but separation into two was felt unnecessary (Michener, 2000). The larval and pupal phylogeny by Rozen & McGinley (1974), Rozen & Jacobson (1980), Cane et al. (1983) have illustrated the relationships of different groups falling in the subfamily. The phylogenic corelationships of various genera was discused by Michener (1981). Some more important publications with regard to different genera can be consulted are Mitchell (1960), Popov (1958), Snelling and Stage (1995), Wu (1965, 1978), Steiner & Whitehead (1991), Vogel (1976, 1986), Wu and Michener (1986) and Warncke (1973).
