The
wintering expeditioners at Casey Station, East Antarctica (66.17 S, 110.32
E) cordially invite:
The Hon John Howard MP to
attend our Midwinter Festivities The
day beginning with a traditional Mid-Winter swim at 1030am, followed quickly
by a hot outdoor spa, cocktails from 1130am till stumps, and a sumptuous
banquet which will be served in the ‘Wallow’at 2.30pm. Sea ice conditions in June are usually still suitable for fly-off by long range helicopter from your yacht, and depending upon recent weather if the sea ice has blown away from the coast at the time of your approach you might even be able to sail right up to our wharf. We
have no fewer than four aircraft landing sites on the ice plateau within
80 km of Casey which can be brought up to useable condition at a couple
of weeks notice (please advise whether your aircraft should land on skis
on snow, or on wheels on ice). Fuel can be provided from the station. Please
RSVP by June 14th With kind regards Barry
