The CDDA

The CDDA began in 1999, in Ontario, Canada.

For years, dogs and their handlers have been able to earn titles in the sport in the US, but not in Canada.

Howard Kadish, and his wife Dawn, founded the CDDA. Howard was the first Canadian to earn titles in American trials and the first Canadian judge with the IDDHA (International Disc Dog Handlers Association), as well as with the CDDA.

In Ontario and Quebec, there are now over 20 trials held per year.

In 2003, the Sport of Disc Dog was opened up in Western Canada. River City Disc Dogs of Winnipeg MB held the first disc dog trials in Western Canada in March of 2004.

The CDDA advocates safe playing of Disc Dog and focuses on the awarding of titles rather than prizes. This makes it possible for almost any dog to accomplish something within the sport.
