Click on images to enlarge them... The artworks on this page all began as pencil sketches, with the exception of the YELLOWTREE card, and the CREEK painting. The Yellowtree was a small ink and watercolor, about 40 minutes, that is reminiscent of autumn scenes in rural western new york. The creek scene was an 8x10 pencil outline, which was painted with candle wax, and a box of crayons, and a hot glue gun. The hgg melts the crayon without burning, the candle wax added body, and thinning of color, and the hgg acted as a palatte knife, allowing brush strokes. The Autumn hills image was a crayon drawing, a take off of an impressionist painting. The John Paul II image was a smaller pencil sketch, taken from a photograph in a book. I sketched him the week he met His Maker. The woman with the cross necklace is from a fine photo of sarah ferguson. The self image is a self portrait sketch, done in august of 2006. it is reversed to correct the mirror image and photographic parallax distortion. The lady knows who she is. All of these works were done by me. -Chuck Darling
