Trio Club
139 Calhoun Street
Downtown
(843) 965-5333
First things first, I just have to say that Trio Club has some of the cleanest bathrooms around.

Okay, now that I've gotten that important piece of information off of my chest, I can tell you about the rest of the place.  Fitting with the name, Trio has three distinct areas that comprise the club.  First, there is a deck outside, where you can relax with a drink or even dance to whatever music might be piping out there.  Simple, yet nice.

Then there's the downstairs space.  Curvy architecture and a lot of candle light give it a very jazzy feel.  There is a small, intimate stage in the corner, where Dunzip was setting up the night we dropped in.  The bar glowed with a sort of eerie, yet inviting iridescence.  All in all, a pretty hip atmosphere.

Upstairs is a bit more laid-back, but still at the forefront of hip.  There was a bar and typical bar seating, but my favorite part of the upstairs space were the numerous couches--plenty of 'em and comfy as they could be.  If not for the booming nightlife, I would be quite happy napping away on the black one in the corner...This is definitely a place to chill with friends. In addition to the bar seating and couches, there are also several large booths that provide prime seating to watch whatever band might be performing (this night, The Beatholes) or to look out over Calhoun Street and Marion Square.

Ahh...now to what you might be drinking.  Well...almost anything you could want.  Trio Club has adult beverages ranging in price from $2.25 (domestic beer) to $125.00 (bottle of champagne).  It truly depends on your mood, taste, and budget!  Something for the trashy or trendy in everyone. I, myself, am looking forward to heading back for a Chocolate Martini...Yum!

Overall, Trio Club is definitely one of the more "hip" night spots in downtown Charleston. While all are invited, it is definitely a place for snazzy folks that like to meet other snazzy folks, without feeling uptight and stingy. Dress slick, grab some friends, and head over to Trio Club to sip and mingle...and dance.
