You notice a tiny pinecone on the forest floor, and pick it up, curiously. A sudden flash of blinding light surrounds you, and you blink, momentarily blinded. As your vision clears, you realize you are in a different place entirely. Before you have time to wonder what sort of strange magic has brought you here, you sence that you are being watched. A pair of golden eyes stares out at you from the trees. A humanlike creature with long red hair and a fox's ears and tail comes out to greet you.

     "Greetings, human traveller. You have entered the Evergreen, the realm of the spirit guardians. What is a spirit guardian, you ask? Well, we are beings who are part fae and part forest creature. We are always looking for new realms to inhabit and protect. If you wish, you may take some of us to other lands, provided you follow a few rules. As of now, there are four of us: a cat, a crow, a willow and myself, but there may be more someday."
