The village of LAYCOCK is situated in the UK in the county of Yorkshire. It is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086.
The village was probably established around 900AD as the result of a Viking invasion.
The name in old Norsk language means 'little stream in the valley' or 'water meadows'.
The information on this page was kindly donated by Dr John Laycock. He is the self-appointed custodian of the Laycock family name, being born in Laycock village from which all Laycocks originate.
