Future Contact ;

  Many people have emailed me and asked who they are able to continue conversations with now that I am no longer on the ice.  You can either contact me and I will try put you in touch with those now living at Scott Base or you can contact Antarctica New Zealand through their web site. I've provided a hyper link or you can phone them in Christchurch, New Zealand.  If you want to contact Scott Base directly, their number is in the phone book and is considered part of the New Zealand phone exchange so it wouldn't cost too much.

As for me, I've been away for a holiday to Europe and come back to New Zealand again.  There is no place like home!. These days Im settled in Christchurch with my wife and brand new baby daughter

If you have any questions or you would like to contact me just send me an email through my web site email address and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Special Thanks To ;

All those people who have allowed me to use their photos.  Many, but not all, the photos are taken by me.  Other sources have been Eric, Chris, Steve, Hermione, Jonathan, Patricia, and various anonymous people in McMurdo who have put their photos onto the public computer system for all to see.

Antarctica New Zealand: Without them I wouldn't be down here, of course, but they have given me assistance in the way of a computer, and access to information while in Antarctica.  This allows me to write and produce my own web page.  Please note that what I write and say are my own views and may not always reflect the views of Antarctica New Zealand. There are interesting things you pick up along the way and I hope to point out some of them. Not all of it is pretty. Governments and people do some really stupid things when they think the world isn't watching, and although I'm not going to get into hot political debate over them, I may just happen to slip in a few details on various pages if I feel sarcastic enough while writing. However I will always use some degree of common sense as there is a saying that what happens on the ice, stays on the ice.

I would like to thank the support of some of the kids, teachers, and other people who have written to me and asked questions about Antarctica. I have built some pages around the most commonly asked questions. If you think of something else or are in doubt, just ask and I may be able to dig up an answer for you.

For those of you wondering, I am using a combination of Netscape 4.5, FrontPage and MS Word HTML Editor to produce these web pages. I know it's a strange mix but the pages are of a very simple design and I use whatever program is handy at the time to write them. And yes, I do know I'm lousy with spelling and grammar, but no one ever said you needed these skills to be an electrician, so just be patient and tell me if I get it seriously wrong - like the odd time I stuff up hyper links. These days you can even complain to my editor as I am now "all care and no responsibility". I don't think Shirley would mind a bit of correspondence. She puts a lot of effort into the editing of my pages, for which I am very grateful.

Last but not least a small kind word about the people who hosted this web site for a few years. They have been excellent!!. www.pageplanet.com who are part of www.pageplop.com where the first to host my web site. Even though they are aimed at the comercial market they where kind enough to alow me a small corner of thier web hosting service to store my web site without advertising. These days I have decided to move my web site to another service but have left an old copy of my web site on their server for a short time. Thanks again to www.pageplanet.com, they have been exceeded all my expectations and I would recomend them to anyone looking for a commercial web hosting service.

The company boss didn't want me mention his service saying that a web site should be able to operate without advertising banners splattered all over it. Oh well.  I'm so impressed by the service and quality that I had to say something about them.

Cheers, Ray
