1997 and 1998 Scott Base Temperatures

These are the temperatures for the Scott Base area starting from the month we arrived at Antarctica for our tour of duty. This is the data that Herm gathers every day for the beakers back home as a small part of her job. The data is then summarized and tabulated at the end of every month. What you see here is the summary data. Thanks Herm !!

Some things you may want to know about the figures below:

All temperature readings are in Celsius.
All wind speeds are in knots
All barometric pressures (air pressure relative to air pressure at sea level ) are Hecto Pascal's. 1 hPa = 1 millibar
There is 'virtually' no rain fall in this area of Antarctica. Any rain that does fall and reaches the ground is so brief that is not recorded.  And yes it does fall occasionally. Ask Helicopter pilots who have to fly along sideways because the rain on the windshield suddenly freezes and they cant see out it. Doesn't happen often but when it does it can be annoying they tell me.
