The Antartic land claims.

This picture will give only an indication of land claims. The last I heard the USA does not recognise land claims and serveral countries are argueing that they should have a piece of Antartica which means that others may have to give up some of thier claims. Note, that many of the land claims are directly below the countries that claim them. Some countries try to cement thier claims to land by encouraging base personel to have children in Antarctica. Its good to see that so many countries are working together and taking an interest in such an inhospitable place. I can only ask myself why?? What is in it for them?? Could it be that Antarctica is problable the largest untaped resource the world has left. Who knows, Im sure only time will tell. Lets hope that those people in positions of power dont destroy its natural balances like they have done with many other parts of the indusrtialised world.

Lets face it. Its not us who will pay the price, its only our children and Antarctica that have to live with what we do now.
