The Stitch Designer
I got to the Stitch Designer (SD) in a round a bout way. When I initially read the manual on it, I also found out about the Designer Software at the same time and gave the SD a skip in favour of the Software. However, Doris Thielepape asked for help with the SD and I had to teach it to (eventually) to the 1630 club!
So what I will be offering here are tips, tricks and also the two different methods of using the notation that seems to have "taken on" on the 1630 list!
Firstly, the braid design that I did for Doris (just to keep the interest going!).

Here is the piccie that Doris sent me As you can see, it needs cleaning up. |

| Having cleaned it up in Paint by using the eraser and cropped it to the bit I needed, it looks like this. | ![]() |

Next I combined the braid design with the grid. I have pointed some crossing points with bright green to help me draw this design on the Stitch Designer. |

After putting it on the SD I sewed it out, the top row is with double thread in the needle and the bottom row with single thread. Pity you can't do triple straight stitch with the SD.... but don't despair... |

...cos the candy man can... with the Designer Software... ok , enough already, so it was a cheap shot... but timewise it took me a fraction of the time to do the same with the software..:-))) |

| So, what's left...hmmm.... how about a piccie of the grid (without the design on it - so you can copy it and print it out to do your own design on it, then scan it in on a scanner and spread it around to other 1630 users to share your lovely design!!! | Click here for the zipped .isd file of the above design. Note it was stitched out with 2 treads on the needle!!! (Hint: use a big-eyed needle!!) |
| All you need to do is right-click on the grid with your mouse, and then click on "Save as..", and save it on your own PC. | |

Just click on the Back button on your browser when done, I will tidy this all up when I get to redoing this page on the new web designer software! |
