Cougars Weather The Storm
Dundee Storm...............30
Craigmount Cougars.....43

(22.06.02)  The weather in Edinburgh may have been miserable but there was nothing to dampen The Cougars' spirits as they powered to victory against main rivals Dundee Storm at Craigmount today.  The attack was lead by Running Back Stephen Boyd who made a very impressive 5 touchdown return after missing last weeks game.  Ahead of him was Tight End for the day Fraser McAndrew who made some key blocks and also added one catch to his game.  David Crawfard was impressive at Wide Receiver after reeling in a 60-yard bomb from the equally impressive Quarterback Andrew McKiver who in the past two games has thrown for 3 passing TD's and no interceptions.  Craig Sweeny hauled in a touchdown pass as well which sealed the victory.  This was backed-up by a hard-hitting defense which was lead by Callum Ferguson  who had a pick and fumble recovery - both to set up scores.  Mark LeBouedec was also impressive with an interception of his own during a two-point conversion attempt.  But at some points there was hardly anything between the teams as Dundee failed to give up, although in the last few minutes it appeared the game was over.  This is a great confidence builder for The Cougars ahead of the League which starts in early August.  Game MVP has to go to the hugely impressive display of Stephen Boyd, but there are others in the team who deserve their praise which is highlighted in the scoreline.

Cougars Go Down Fighting Against Paisley
Paisley Panthers...........24
Craigmount Cougars....20

(16.06.02)  In an exciting game between two relatively new teams to this 5-on-5 kitted game it was Paisley who came out winners.  Craigmount did show though that they had improved drastically since the game against Galloway.  The first Cougars drive was halted deep in Paisley territory, but The Cougars failed to find the endzone.  Paisley had no such problems however and scored on their first possesion.  But Craigmount struck back quickly with Bob Wallace powering into the endzone to tie the game and 6-6.  The extra point conversion was caught acrobatically by Fraser McAndrew, but he just failed to keep his feet in bounds.  Paisley were running the ball often and that was what Craigmount found difficult to cope with and so it came as no surprise when Paisley took a 12-6 halftime lead after running the ball into the endzone.  On The Panthers' first possesion of the half Craigmount got just the break they needed when Ali Lippok intercepted the Paisley QB's pass in midfield.  Only a few plays later Cougars QB David Crawford found Fraser McAndrew in the endzone to even the game up at 12-12 midway through the third quarter.  Paisley continued to pound the ball on the ground and they got their rewards when they scored after a good drive to take a 6 point lead into the fourth quarter.  Craigmount then went three and out with Darren Cormack catching a pass which was good enough to be a first down but it was ruled incomplete.  Paisly took advantage of that and scored with a short pass down the middle after eating up a lot of the clock.  The extra point was converted to make it 24-12.  Craigmount didn't give up and right at the end Kenny McKay scored an impressive touchdown pass from Andrew McKiver.  Kenny also scored the two point conversion to close the game up at 24-20 to Paisley.  Next week Craigmount play
Dundee Storm at Craigmount.
