Melfina
Okay people, we have now come to the SECOND character that I do not particaularly like (though Jim does). First of all, she is so self pitying! She just has to find out where she's from, and can't ever accept that Gene and Jim love her and think of her as family and a friend (in Gene's case). *sigh* I just don't get her. Another thing...oh well I won't go on and on. Hehehe...here's the bio.

Melfina is the typical bio android, lost and alone, trying to figure out who she is and why she was born. Actually, Melfina is very different from the androids in other anime shows. She looks and acts like a real human, only she is different in her making. Melfina is also the only one capable bio android of navigating the Outlaw Star. This makes her a very valuable item, and she is targeted many times throughout the series by both the MacDougalls and the Kei pirates, but for other reasons than just her capability to pilot the ship. You see...(SPOILER) she is the Maiden of the Leyline (okay, enough of that spoiler). This leads Jim and Gene into a lot of trouble, and so it causes Melfina to think that she is indirectly hurting them.
Melfina is often quiet and submissive, but can be very outspoken if needed. She seems to be very close to Jim in the sense that he thinks of her as his 'mother' (since he doesn't have his own). He is really the only one that provides comfort to her, which makes him even cooler *smiles*. Anyway, in a lot of episodes, Gene avoids her. This is because in the beginning he promised Melfina he would find something out about her past, but he wasn't able to keep his promise. Unfortunately, this cause Melfina to think that she is just in the way.
