High capacity magazine, The FN P90 and FN M249 PARA

hm_p90.jpg (11446 bytes)In an assault or rush, 30 rounds seem never enough. Just when you have the target on sight, the gun warns you that it's going empty at the time when you depend on it the most.

What are the alternatives? The P90 and the M249 of course.

The P90 is truly a rusher’s savior and nightmare for those who play defense. Why? Most rush teams uses the shotguns and submachine guns category, which allows fast movement while dealing a large chunk of damage. However, only the P90 have a large capacity magazine thus allowing the user to “press-on” when half of the squad is reloading. Keep in mind that, “reloading” applies to both teams and when you got so many bullets and so many defenseless targets, it’s hard to choose who gets to taste your wrath. Providing cover fire is also a plus since it don’t really need to reload.

All good things do have problems as usual. Its reload is horribly slow but you only really do it 3 times in the game. It fires too fast and recoils too hard. Firing fast is good in a rush and recoil is irrelevant during close range confrontations. Burst at a far range to get good results while advancing on the target. By the time you two are very close, let it rip and watch your target run for a spot to reload. The last part is that it is expensive… but think about it, a weapon that allows you to hold ground against a whole team. Imagine what it can do to one guy. Probably shred them less than a second.

hm_para.jpg (12364 bytes)Only three letters are needed to describe our next weapon spotlight. (S.A.W.) Squad Assault Weapon. The M249 Para Light Machine Gun can spray out 100 devastating 5.56mm of armor piercing rounds in a few seconds. However, people who try use it couldn’t use up 30 rounds yet alone survive the first five seconds. This weapon are not primarily used to attack a team but to defend. The weight which slows down a player to a crawl is what prevents them from attacking. That’s why there’s the heavy weapon dude in Team Fortress who always guards the door. Use it to provide cover fire or to flush out targets, which are hiding. Keep the enemy at bay while your team is reloading. When they are done, you still have plenty in the drum to join them.

The most obvious drawback is it’s huge recoil. Remember if going to go full auto, aim low. Yes people… lower than the groin. Burst firing this weapon feels like as if it has no effect but it does slightly. The huge price tag and the bullets it carries hinders only the rich or the miser of the team can afford it. It’s a good weapon but not a weapon to pick up if you are not accustomed to it. Practice it and learn it and your team will make their way out through and through.

Remember to use common sense when using the P90 or Para. Just because you have lots of bullets, doesn’t mean you have lots of life. They can assault a whole squad, but its done one at a time.
