Secondary: None
Designed Range: Blank to Medium

Background: On February 1 1982, the United States Army officially adopted The M249 PARA light machine gun. Although not as startling or dramatic as the space-shuttle program, this major achievement will have far more important immediate consequences for troops in the field. The M249 5.56mm SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) will be primarily deployed in the infantry fire teams of the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. It will replace the bipod-mounted M16A1 AR (automatic rifle) at the squad level and selected M60 GPMGs (general-purpose machine guns) in non-infantry units. The two fire teams in the rifle squad will each be issued an M249.

Overview: No fancy bells and whistle for this assaulter’s dream. The M209 relentlessly spray the area with huge 5.56mm armor piercing rounds that can literally take out a whole team with ease. It’s many problems means only the experienced gamers will know how to use this deadly weapon. Such problems are that it is quite heavy, very inaccurate, and it’s horribly slow reload. It also carries the most ammo allowing the user to outlast any fight or any assault while everyone else is busy reloading.

User Performance: During the rush, always aim for the head since one shot can drop any enemy. When confronting an enemy, remember you don’t need to reload for a long long time so keep the pressure and catch your enemies while they are on the reload. From close range and beyond, use burst fire to control the spread otherwise you’ll make your enemy look really good dodging plenty of bullets. Remember that this weapon carries the most bullets in a gun so spray any objects you think there are campers!

Threat Assessment: The biggest threat in the battlefield is this weapon where it doesn’t need a reload. Take shifts while holding ground to prevent anyone from hitting empty. Make use of accurate shots because even though it throws more stones, it’s where the stones fall that counts.

Tips: If you intend to waste bullets, remember what kind of handgun you going to use because even the most expensive weapon is uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)useless if it’s empty.

knife.jpg (7971 bytes)Name: Combat Knife
Manufacturer: SOG SEAL Knife-2000
Cost: Standard Issue to all players
Ammo: None
Firepower: 2 (Stab: 5)
Rate of fire: 3 (Stab: 1)
Accuracy: 5 (Stab: 2)
Quietness: 5
Reload Speed: None
Movement: 5
Secondary: Stab Attack
Designed Range: Blank

Background: The SEAL Team 2000 Knife features a 440A stainless steel 7 inch gray powdered coated blade. The overall length of the knife is 12 1/4 inches while weighting in at 12.7 ounces. A polymer handle with a Kydex sheath completes the package. It is perhaps the most anxiously awaited and dramatically new fixed blade to come along in years, and it's now available for the civilian market without any changes.

Overview: In a game full of guns one would think a simple combat knife would be useless. However, most players especially rushers learn to appreciate this simplistic and brutal weapon. Wielding this weapon allows the highest movement, which is why everyone pulls them out when moving into position. Nothing is more humiliating than being knifed to death particularly when one doesn’t even knows it. The knife’s damage is not affected by body armor whatsoever and the new vicious stab attack can take down anyone in one quick strike.

User Performance: In a rush, reloading while the enemy is alive is not an option. Most players empty their primary, secondary and then pull out the knife to finish the massacre. It’s one ugly scene but the results are high casualties and psychological trauma to the unprepared. Use the knife particularly to those who are simply unaware of their surroundings such as snipers, campers or wherever there’s an opportunity to save bullets. Then there are the sick people who do it just for fun.

Threat Assessment: Do what most people do when they pull a knife at you. RUN… at least until you have reloaded your weapon. Surprisingly, some weapons are weaker than the knife so don’t be too upset if your opponent knifed you to death while shooting.

Tips: On CS maps where Terrorists have no money, they should kill the hostages to force the Counter-Terrorists to fight against uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)them. Use the knife since it wastes no bullets. Save them for the long standoff.

he.jpg (12133 bytes)Name: HE (High Explosive) Grenade
Manufacturer: Unknown
Cost: $300
Ammo: 1
Firepower: 5
Rate of fire: None
Accuracy: 5
Quietness: 1
Reload Speed: None
Movement: 5
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Medium

Background: It’s a grenade. Pull the pin, let go of the spoon, throw and it explodes. Simple.

Overview: If there were one item that can eliminate a team in tight formation, this would be it. It explodes too fast for any warning and its blast radius is quite wide. Though it can't blast through walls and such, use the walls to bounce the grenade to hard to reach places.

User Performance: There are countless uses for this little can of joy. Throw it into any area where strafing or high traffic area’s are. Campers also hate this can of whoop-ass as it can send them running when it’s being tossed to them. Use the walls and sometimes ceiling to bounce it toward your enemies in tight locations. Be especially careful when tossing it during a rush, as explosions are normally non-discriminative and never be the leader holding to the grenade without a pin as a dropped grenade will explode should you die, inflicting damage to your teammates.

Threat Assessment: No one weapon warrants the purchase of body armor more than this. Being bombed by a grenade is bad but without armor, the chances of survival are very slim. Simply put, watch out for flying cans.

Tips: When a HE grenade is tossed toward a team, most likely they fall back avoids the explosion. However, rush teams avoid them by moving forward and directly engaging the enemy.

flashbang.jpg (12690 bytes)Name: Concussion Grenade (Flashbangs)
Manufacturer: Unknown
Cost: $200
Ammo: 2
Firepower: 0
Rate of fire: None
Accuracy: 5
Quietness: 1
Reload Speed: None
Movement: 5
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: Instant disorientation now comes in a can!

Overview: Flashbangs are designed to blind and deafen opposing teams before an assault begins. If used successfully, a whole team could quickly and effectively eliminate their target with ease. All too often due to lack of coordination, they blind teammates and allow a window of opportunity for an attack with grave consequences.

User Performance: This is a teamwork tool so don’t use it in public games or when there is no teamwork whatsoever. Simply throw the grenade, turn around until it explodes and then move in to eliminate whatever’s stumbling away.

Threat Assessment: Since all grenades look the same until it explodes, one simple precaution is turn ones back until it explodes. When blinded, one should retreat backwards while using the mouse and the crosshair to detect any enemies in a sweeping motion. Fire in single shots to scare off any potential attackers.

Tips: Although it’s fun to blind teammates at the beginning of the round, it’s not funny when the other team rush and eliminate the uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)whole team leaving the idiot to fend for himself. The blindness is also longer if the opponent uses night vision goggles.

sg.jpg (11902 bytes)Name: Smoke Grenade (A.K.A. Lag Grenades)
Manufacturer: Unknown
Cost: $300
Ammo: 1
Firepower: 0
Rate of fire: None
Accuracy: 5
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: None
Movement: 5
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Medium

Background: Surgeon General’s Warning: Second hand smoke is hazardous to your health.

Overview: Often used against snipers as a cover to move in a squad, the smoke grenade is much more friendly as compared to the concussion grenades and lasts longer. It’s often underused since only one could be carried and it costs more than its concussion counterpart.

User Performance: Throw this grenade down the valley in de_dust and watch the snipers get restless. The smoke grenade is often underused simply because many don’t see the use in it. It blinds friends and foes alike and often a risk when sending a team through the haze. During a rush or any location where snipers are aplenty, throw this grenade ahead to allow your team to assault the area.

Threat Assessment: Use the M249 PARA to cut through any would be rush teams attempting to move in while the sniper wait for the smoke to clear. Often at times it’s lags the frame rate and prevent the defending team to make any accurate shots.

Tips: Useful in playing the HE grenade bluff, toss this to prevent your foes from following your retreat. Make sure they see you throw it as they would scramble to run.uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)
