Real Name: IMI Gaili
Fake Name: IDF Defender
Manufacturer: Israeli Military Industries
Cost: $2,000 (Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 35 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 3
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 1
Quietness: 1
Reload Speed: 4
Movement: 3
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Blank to Close

Background: The experience gained by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) during the Six-days war of 1967, showed the deficiencies of the FN FAL rifles, which were the main armament of the IDF infantry. The FAL rifles were too sensitive to fine sand and dust of Arab deserts, and too long and bulky to carry and maneuver. On the other hand, the same war showed the advantages of the Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifles, used by Arab infantry with great success. After the end of this war IDF decided to develop a new assault rifle, which will eventually replace the FN FAL battle rifles and some of the UZI submachine guns.

Overview: As if the AK-47 isnt enough, The weapon that copies it is also in the game. Although it looks are similar, the Gaili have a few attributes that the AK-47 don't have. For one, this weapon's 35 round clip is deadly and can kill two players with ease although its damage isn't as powerful as the AK. It's equally uncontrollable and but more inaccurate. At medium range to distant its more unusable as well. The lower price makes this weapon a choice for those who don't like to use submachine guns.

User Performance: For those who love to go out like the Alamo, this weapon is it. It's 35 round clip not only allows you to shoot, but it keeps them from hiding as well as its rifle rounds penetrates objects. At a distance its accuracy is not good so keep this as a close to blank range area and you should do fine.

Threat Assessment: If possible, engage Gaili users at medium range using burst fire to keep them from getting too close. Clean shots are a necessity when engaging in close to blank range.

uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)Tips: Use this weapon to pin down targets so that team members can flank or go all out spraying the area. Its affordability literally rewards the reckless.

AK-47.jpg (14788 bytes)Real Name: AK-47
Fake Name: CV-47
Manufacturer: Kovrov weapons plant, Former USSR
Cost: $2,500 (Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 7.62mm with 30 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 5
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 1
Quietness: 1
Reload Speed: 5
Movement: 3
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Blank to Medium

Background: The AK-47 was designed by Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov as a replacement for the SKS and as a rifle that could be used by Soviet tank crews.  In 1946, while working at the Kovrov weapons plant, Kalashnikov began work on the AK-47. The AK-47 was accepted as the standard rifle for the Soviet Army in 1949 and retained that status until it was succeeded by the AKM.  To this day between 30 to 50 million copies and variations of the AK-47 have been produced worldwide, making it the most widely used rifle in the world.

Overview: The most popular rifle in the world has also gained quite a reputation in Counter-Strike. It’s very cheap for a rifle, horribly powerful, and has a quick reload. Unfortunately, it’s also notoriously known to be noisy and extremely inaccurate in full-auto. The deadly firepower as well as the annoying recoil has something in common actually. It’s huge 7.62mm rounds while most other assault rifles and even the M249 Para light machinegun uses 5.56mm. Two other weapons do uses the same munitions but they are sniper rifles. In other words, the AK-47 is a fully automatic sniper rifle that can Swiss cheese anything in it's path!

User Performance: This weapon’s ultra high recoil means you need to use single fire to prevent it from shooting nowhere. Even though your target may be far and hard to see, line him up with the small crosshair and fire single shots at medium or far distance to get good results. If he gets close, use full auto while aim for the target’s stomach or feet. The recoil should hit just about the neck.

Threat Assessment: A major problem with the AK-47 is between the close-medium range where it has problems on weather it should go full auto or burst. Keep this distance to successfully kill an AK-47 user.

Tips: The fast reload is something unusual this powerful rifle. Learn to quickly reload to continue a relentless assault on the front uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)lines. The huge bullets can cut through any object so fire a few shots to flush out any would-be campers.

sig552.jpg (5841 bytes)Real Name: Sig 552 Commando
Fake Name: Krieg 552 Commando
Manufacturer: Sig Sauer Arms, Switzerland
Cost: $3,500 (Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 30 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 4
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 3
Movement: 3
Secondary: 2X Zoom
Designed Range: Medium to Long

Background: The SG 552 "Commando", made by SIG Arms in Switzerland, this is the smallest member of the SG 550 / 551 rifle family. Technically it is a very short carbine which fires rifle rounds, but it is listed under compact machine guns and it is intended to be use like one. The stock can also be folded in for mobility while the magazine "multi-pack" system and bolt hold allows for rapid magazine changes.

Overview: If one weapon were to be voted best overall, this would definitely take the award. It’s huge rate of fire, the 2X zoom feature, powerful armor piercing munitions, and a good reload speed makes this the most sought after weapon amongst the counter-terrorist side. The drawbacks are because it fires so fast; the recoil is quite unbearable to most users. Pricing wise it is the same as the Steyr AUG but this weapon performs much better!

User Performance: Control can make this good weapon great. The recoil is high so bursting in sets of 3 or using the zoom feature to lower the rate of fire helps its accuracy. Take advantage of its zoom feature at long distances. At extreme distances, the zoom can still be somewhat useful in firing off single shots. Remember you can still let it rip at full auto in close or blank range confrontations!

Threat Assessment: The two ranges that the commando has problems are the close-medium range much like many inaccurate terrorist weapons and the long to extreme ranges. Keep a safe distance when engaging the enemy armed with this weapon or snipe from far away. Don’t forget to use ambushes and backstabs to confuse your enemies

Tips: Power is nothing without control! The Commando is reloads faster than the AUG, take advantage of this during one-on-one uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)battles.

Real Name: FA-MAS
Fake Name: Clairon
Manufacturer: GIAT, France (Groupement Industriel des Armements Terrestres)
Cost: $2,000 (Counter-Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 25 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 3 (5, Burst)
Rate of fire: 2 (5, Burst)
Accuracy: 2 (4, Burst)
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 3
Movement: 3
Secondary: 3 Shot Burst Fire Mode
Designed Range: Close to Medium

Background: French soldiers refer to it as "Le Clairon." But this bugle spits bullets. It is not a pretty weapon - in fact, it's downright ugly. Esthetics, however, are of small consequence in the design of efficient weaponry. France's newest service rifle, the FA MAS (Fusil Automatique, Manufacture d'Armes de St. etienne), has already demonstrated itself to be an effective and generally well-conceived piece of ordnance. First introduced in 1973 and subsequently modified, the FA MAS was adopted by the French armed forces and placed into production in 1979.

Overview: The counter-terrorist's newest addition as taken from the popular Metal Gear Solid series is a welcome addition to those who know how to take clean shots without a lot of money. Most Counter-Terrorists weapons are expensive but this is a good deal compared to the many sub-machine guns that can't deal the firepower or penetration that rifles offer. However, it's inaccuracy in full auto mode is something of an oddity to their usual arsenal but the secondary provides a interesting burst fire that can kill instantly if well placed.

User Performance: With 25 rounds in a clip, this weapon relies on  teamwork and clean shots as 5 less rounds truly makes a difference. At full auto, this weapon misses everywhere and with only 25 rounds, suppressing fire is a risky gamble, only go full auto at close to blank range when you can't afford to wait for the burst. Burst fire is excellent at medium to close range particularly if you can aim well at close range. It's burst shot fires so rapidly that terrorists won't even know that three rounds had just fired off. It is like a shotgun in burst mode.

Threat Assessment: The IMI Gaili is a better weapon compared to this in a one on one confrontation. With literally 10 more rounds than the FA-MAS, the counter-terrorist would be forced to retreat or hide to reload leaving them venerable. The AK-47 players would also win in a one on one due to large caliber and it's quick reload.

Tips: With all these drawbacks, it looks like the FA-MAS is not a good deal as it is the worst assault rifle out of the bunch. But this weapon seriously fills the cash void between Sub Machine Guns and Rifles and if used with teamwork, the drawbacks of 25 rounds would be minimized. Although a force of habit, reloading after every engagement is not always the best idea. While retreating, keep around 10-15 rounds without reloading and re-engage your opponent to surprise them when they think you are reloading. This is also risky as you can not engage multiple enemies but with 25 rounds in the first place, that option was not available in the first place. uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)

M4A1.jpg (12219 bytes)Real Name: Colt M4A1 Carbine
Fake Name: Maverick M4A1 Carbine
Manufacturer: Colt Firearms, USA
Cost: $3,100 (Counter-Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 30 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 4 (3, Silenced)
Rate of fire: 3
Accuracy: 4
Quietness: 2 (5, Silenced)
Reload Speed: 3
Movement: 3
Secondary: Attach/Detach Silencer
Designed Range: Close to Medium

Background: After the military action in Grenada, the US need for a shorter version of the 20" barreled M16 that was once again stressed upon by the military's elite fighting forces. Colt, at that time had a prototype version designated as the XM4A1 carbine. After tests, the US military began adopting the weapon for its Special Forces and airborne troopers. The M4A1 also makes a very good CQC (close quarters combat) weapon.

Overview: The most used assault rifle in the Counter-Terrorist field has two features makes it outstanding in most aspects. It’s the most controllable assault rifle thus making a keeper for the Terrorists . The silenced feature cuts down noise while allowing backstabbing teams to move into position. Without the silencer, this weapon can do more damage than the AUG or the Commando, and at a lower price as well.

User Performance: Burst fire in sets of 3 to 5 at close range for better accuracy. Keep in mind that this weapon can be silenced so attach it when going to the area but take it off to deliver maximum damage. Use this tactic especially when backstabbing a team.

Threat Assessment: Always watch your back since this is the most powerful silenced weapon in the Counter-Terrorist’s arsenal. Remember that just because there is it’s quiet doesn’t mean nobody is there hiding. This holds especially true for the front lines when the opposing team are completely equipped with silenced gear.

Tips: Sniping with the AK-47 is deadly but with the Colt is quite hilarious. Attach the silencer and fire off a few shots to an unsuspecting foe then what him run around like a chicken trying to find you. Move to another spot and repeat when necessary to cause paranoia amongst the Terrorists ranks. Instantly snap on the silencer by hit the secondary button and quickly switch uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)weapons and switch back. This can also be done on the USP for instant stealth attacks.

AUG.jpg (15783 bytes)Real Name: Steyr AUG
Fake Name: Bullpup
Manufacturer: Steyr - Mannlicher Company, Austria
Cost: $3,500 (Counter-Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 30 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 2
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 2
Movement: 3
Secondary: 2X Zoom
Designed Range: Medium to Long

Background: Steyr's newest offering, the AUG (Armee Universal Gewehr), is a space-age assault rifle with many appealing features. Based on the bull pup design, the AUG is chambered for the 5.56 NATO cartridge. The AUG is futuristic in both design and concept. It seems to have solved many of the inherent problems with assault rifles, mainly overall size and weight. With the 20-inch barrel snuggled into place, the AUG measures a compact 31 inches long and weighs just a shade less than eight pounds. The Steyr AUG is also the backbone of the Australian army and has seen its share of duty during the East Timor crisis.

Overview: The most bizarre assault rifle in Counter-Strike started with a reputation of being inferior to all the other assault rifles. In a sense, it still continues with its much list of problems. It’s tiny crosshair before firing hides the enormous inaccuracies when it goes full auto. Burst fire usually solves this simple problem. Second, the reload is painstakingly slow which leads to death while reloading. If the reload wasn’t too slow, it could have been a contender in the front lines.

User Performance: Learn to use single fire with this weapon and you can easily make surgical strikes at all distances. The ultra small default crosshair leaves little to guesswork while the zoom feature will take down anyone running from the scene. Burst in sets of 3 at close range and go full auto during blank range confrontations. Fire sparingly and avoid ammo wastage and always find a safe place to reload. Treat it like a sniper rifle with the option to go full auto when things get ugly.

Threat Assessment: Use the long reload to your advantage while being careful of its superior long-range capabilities. After their strafe, use flash bangs to further slow down their reloading process while your team makes their move.

uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)Tips: The crosshair is sometimes too small to the average user so it would take some practice. Once an AUG user figure out how to use this, headshots at medium range is a common place and that’s when this weapon will shine.

Scout.jpg (15644 bytes)Real Name: Steyr Scout
Fake Name: Schmidt Scout
Manufacturer: Steyr - Mannlicher Company, Austria
Cost: $2,750
Ammo: 7.62mm with 10 in weapon, 60 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 2
Accuracy: 5
Quietness: 5
Reload Speed: 4
Movement: 4
Secondary: 2X Zoom, 6X Zoom
Designed Range: Long to Extreme

Background: In 1983, Jeff Cooper defined the "general purpose rifle" as "... a conveniently portable, individually operated firearm, capable of striking a single decisive blow, on a live target up to 200 kilos in weight, at any distance at which the operator can shoot with the precision necessary to place a shot in a vital area of the target." To Cooper a "scout" was one man moving from cover to cover, operating alone, and highly trained in all the field craft arts.

Overview: The affordable sniper rifle has often been ignored due to the lack of firepower. The rate of fire is hindered by the bolt-action system but it’s far faster than the AWP sniper rifle, which allows a quick follow-up shots that could potentially eliminate the threat. The lightness of this weapon allows the user to move quickly from one post to another. Its accuracy is not perfect at extreme ranges, which could be a potential problem when taking the first shot. It’s affordability is often seen during the second round where most players are equipped with short range submachine guns. Unlike the other sniper rifles, the scout is quiet thus allows the user to engage the enemy without giving away your position.

User Performance: First lesson, don’t hold a position with this weapon! Stick with a rush team to provide long-range cover fire since this weapon can zoom unlike the submachine guns. You can keep up with the team since this weapon is light as well. When your squad is facing a firefight, take clean shots and retreat. Find other ways to confront the enemy without being confronted. Flanking or distance shooting should do some damage. Use stealth to your advantage by moving quickly from one area to another making use of hit and run tactics.

Threat Assessment: This weapon is deadly at a distance and when the target is not moving. Move often to prevent headshots while attempt to move in close with an assault weapon. Be especially careful after a firefight because it will be just as effective as any other sniper rifle.

uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)Tips: At the end of a firefight, nobody would be in perfect health and that makes everyone a fair game.

Real Name: AI Arctic Warfare Magnum/Police Model
Fake Name: Magnum Sniper Rifle
Manufacturer: Accuracy International, United Kingdom
AWP.jpg (12398 bytes)Cost: $4,750
Ammo: .338 Laupa with 10 in weapon, 30 in reserve
Firepower: 5
Rate of fire: 1
Accuracy: 5
Quietness: 1
Reload Speed: 2
Movement: 2
Secondary: 2X Zoom, 6X Zoom
Designed Range: Long to Extreme

Background: The AWP rifle is the 'black' role version of the AW. Because of its predominant role with police and Special Forces, the stock sides and metalwork are colored black. Its shorter 610mm (24") barrel is thicker and stiffer than a standard AW barrel in order to maximize precision at the slightly closer engagement ranges that are associated with its intended role.

Overview: The most popular sniper rifle in Counter-Strike brings the term one shot, one kill close to home. Its major problems are that it is expensive and quite heavy. Other minor inconveniences are the expensive munitions as well as the slow rate of fire. The firepower of the AWP is so extreme that if three enemies were lined up, it could punch through all three with ease. Shooting through thick objects is easily achievable while thinner objects can still kill. The only time where people live after being shot by an AWP is either to the foot or while hiding behind thick objects.

User Performance: Holding a position is good with this weapon. Learn to find high ground while crouch to gain maximum accuracy. Keep in mind that it’s quite loud so it can give away your position easily. It should be a habit to switch to your handgun when being confronted at close range.

Threat Assessment: Upon hearing shots this distinct weapon, move around and look around for potential areas where the sniper could be hiding and take cover quickly. Try to go around the map to flank the sniper, which is much easier than confronting them head on.

Tips: At close range, AWP users would be fumbling around weather to do the one shot wonder or pull out their handgun. By the time uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)they do make a decision, chances are they’re probably dead. Remember to make a choice before making a stand.

g3sg1.jpg (9880 bytes)Real Name: HK G3SG/1 Sniper Rifle
Fake Name: D3/AU1 Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle
Manufacturer: Heckler & Koch, Germany
Cost: $5,000 (Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 7.62mm with 20 in weapon, 60 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 2
Accuracy: 3
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 2
Movement: 1
Secondary: 2X Zoom, 6X Zoom
Designed Range: Long to Extreme

Background: The G3SG/1 is a sniper-enhanced variant of the G3 rifle that was made at the request of the Deutsche Bundeswehr (German Army). It most closely resembles the G3 rifles, and retains almost all of the standard features. The differences are not readily visible to the eye. The barrels are hand picked for accuracy, and the standard butt stock has a slightly adjustable cheek piece.

Overview: A sniper rifle that is comfortable at any range, the G3SG/1’s rapid fire can take out a whole team at extreme distance while able to hold it’s own ground during medium range confrontations. It’s rapid firing allows the user to keep the crosshair on the target while continue to pelt out rounds unlike the disorienting bolt-action relatives which need to be loaded every shot. The heavy recoil prevents full auto fire but the shots that do hit does a respectable amount of damage. The huge price tag and slow movement hinder most users from buying this all in one wonder rifle.

User Performance: Camping or holding ground is good with this weapon since it’s fast firing, anybody or any group foolish to make a move will get a face full of bullets. Remember that its reload is quite long and that your movement is the slowest so quickly switch to a handgun or knife to get into another area.

Threat Assessment: When engaging this weapon, keep in mind that the reload is quite slow. Strafe in carefully while taking cover as it presents itself to force the user to waste ammo. When he is empty or reloading, move in for the kill since he can’t run away anyways. Of course, flanking or backstabbing is much better than any frontal confrontation.

Tips: The G3’s 60 in reserves often run out fast during long battles. An expensive 1-turn trick for terrorists is to buy the AK-47 and uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)full ammo then the G3 where now you will have 90 in the reserve.

sig550.jpg (7311 bytes)Real Name: Sig 550 Sniper Rifle
Fake Name: Krieg 550 Commando
Manufacturer: Sig Sauer Arms, Switzerland
Cost: $4,200 (Counter-Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 5.56mm with 30 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 3
Rate of fire: 3
Accuracy: 2
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 2
Movement: 1
Secondary: 2X Zoom, 6X Zoom

Designed Range: Long to Extreme

Background: The appropriate weapon for difficult missions. The semi-automatic rifle SIG SG 550 Sniper has been developed in close co-operation with the special units of the police. The basic concept relies on the assault rifle SG 550. The Swiss army has decided on this weapon after very exhaustive tests. This means precision and functional reliability have been met under the most rigorous conditions.

Overview: Although similar to the G3-SG/1, the major difference are clearly evident from the moment of purchase. The low price compared to the G3 is a welcoming sight to most Counter-Terrorists whom normally spend more. The 30 round clip lets you lay down much needed cover fire during long range fights. It's accuracy is better than the G3 even if the zoom is used. It's fires quite fast but is somewhat noisy. The biggest surprise is it's price also reflects it's firepower. It requires two headshots to kill as compared to the infamous scout which means the semi-auto fire must be the equalizer in the war against the bolt action sniper rifles.

User Performance: For those who don't like to move but like to shoot those at a distance, this is the weapon. It's large 30 round clip means you can pin targets down, flush targets out of hiding, provide support fire from a distance and basically wreak havoc to a team of assaulters from a distance. Without the zoom it stills fires accurately but moving could send bullets everywhere else.

Threat Assessment: Head for shelter until you the sniper is spotted. Keep in mind that it can shoot thought thin objects. Don't bother waiting for it to hit empty because it can last much longer than the G3. Take clean shots and retreat when available or use a AWM/P against a Sig 550 user since it's not as strong as everyone thinks.

Tips: Standing like a turret at medium range will only get you killed easily when outnumbered. Burst a few shots then take cover and repeat this uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)process to hold ground until help arrives... provided you called for help. Keep in mind that the Sig Commando looks very similar to this weapon so when picking up a close range weapon, this could ruin your day.
