MP5N.jpg (8908 bytes)Real Name: HK MP5 Navy
Fake Name: K&M Sub-machinegun
Manufacturer: Heckler & Koch, Germany
Cost: $1,500
Ammo: 9mm with 30 in weapon, 120 in reserve
Firepower: 3
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 4
Quietness: 3
Reload Speed: 4
Movement: 4
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: It dominates. Heckler & Koch's MP5 submachine gun is the undisputed choice of the vast majority of law enforcement Special Response Teams and military Spec Ops units throughout the non-communist world. It has been so for almost two decades. Slightly revised and re-chambered for the 10mm Auto and .40 S&W cartridges, in addition to the 9x19mm Parabellum round, it now stands poised to surge forward into even greater pre-eminence.

Overview: The most used and popular counter-strike weapon has many qualities that everyone enjoys. It’s dirt cheap, amazingly accurate, has a huge reserve of ammo, very light and reloads quickly. The only serious drawback is that it doesn’t penetrate through armor thus making this weapon quite weak against armored targets. Its lightness is excellent for rush teams to secure a hostile area. Its accuracy allows a user to engage the enemy at medium range when most of their weapons are close range types. Its affordability allows the user to buy it almost every turn. Its large 30 round clip can take out 3 enemies with precision if the need arises. To simply put it, own this weapon you and own the game.

User Performance: People who enjoy circle strafing but dislike the recoil feature will find this weapon very much at home. The lightness allows the user to dodge much of the bullets while the accuracy dishes out a nice stream of damage. To use this weapon to its full potential, aim for the head while keeping a good distance between your target and your opponent. The distance will prevent your enemy to return fire with high recoil rifles. Strafe around to find your target and to gain a advantage when they are not aware.

Threat Assessment: Grenades and high caliber rifles usually do the job here. The Grenades will flush out any plans for strafing while the assault rifles will use burst fire to gain better accuracy. Keep in mind that rifles do a great deal more damage than any submachine gun.

Tips: Don’t stay in one place too long! After a kill, find a safe place to reload and move on. Keeping your enemy guessing where you uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)are is not only a safety precaution, it also provide you some interesting opportunities such as an ambush.

TMP.jpg (13898 bytes)Real Name: Steyr TMP (Tactical Machine Pistol)
Fake Name: Schmidt Machine Pistol
Manufacturer: Steyr - Mannlicher Company, Austria
Cost: $1,250 (Counter-Terrorists Only)
Ammo: 9mm with 30 in weapon, 120 in reserve
Firepower: 1
Rate of fire: 5
Accuracy: 3
Quietness: 5
Reload Speed: 5
Movement: 4
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: The TMP is quite evidently a light and compact weapon, with a length of 280mm and an empty weight of 1.3 kg. The most interesting feature is its rounded shape and smooth surfaces, which prevent snagging. Keeping in mind the main functions of the possible users, they fixed their eyes on a lightweight and compact personal defense weapon system which also had to provide firepower and to be easily controllable by a non-expert shooter. This system had to give the same firepower as a submachine gun, while having a pistol-type weight and length.

Overview: A semi-popular weapon, the TMP is almost if not more annoying than a mosquito. Reason being is it’s silenced, cheaper and reloads faster than the MP5 Navy. The silenced muzzle allows most users to sneak around the battlefield with quick movement for an ambush with little giveaway of position. The speedy reload is good to provide cover fire when a team needs to get back on their feet to defend certain areas. Unfortunately the silencer also weakens this weapon while the lack of a shoulder rest decrease overall accuracy. The design also looks like a USP from far away until it’s fired. Trickery and deception is the key here. Learn to be silent and sneaky with this weapon to take full advantage of a wolf in sheep clothing.

User Performance: Keep in mind that this is a very weak weapon and that there are better weapons for rushing and this is not one of them. Use this weapon to sneak around the map or camp in a high traffic area to pounce on any unaware Terrorists. After a firefight, move in while reloading since your reload is faster than most weapons. By the time he is done, he just dropped a fully reloaded weapon just for you.

Threat Assessment: Be aware of your surroundings to prevent being ambushed. Use your ears to locate the person shooting you with a silenced weapon. Since the TMP accuracy is not too good, chances are he would be close. When being shot at, move around to prevent some of the damage. By the time he is empty, you should have located him for your kill.

Tips: Holding ground is good in a frontal assault but not during an ambush. This weapon is not powerful enough to kill a team yet alone two people when grouped. The job of an ambush is to distract your opponents to take attention to you. This sounds crazy but uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)when they turned around to face you, their backs are turned to the very threat that will take them out… your assault team.

P90.jpg (13878 bytes)Real Name: FN P90
Fake Name: ES C90
Manufacturer: Fabrique Nationale, Belgium
Cost: $2,450
Ammo: 5.7mm with 50 in weapon, 100 in reserve
Firepower: 3
Rate of fire: 5
Accuracy: 2
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 2
Movement: 4
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: Fabrique Nationale not only developed a larger round, the 5.7x28mm, but FN also developed a series of innovative weapons around the new cartridge: a select-fire bullpup weapon with a 50-round horizontal magazine on top of the receiver. FN publicly announced they were developing a weapon in 1989, which was scheduled for production 1990. Ironically, however, the P90 was not named for the year of its initial production, but rather for FN's "Project 9.0" which spawned it.

Overview: No other weapon captivates their user like the P90. The funny design without a pistol grip, It’s unusual 50-round top feed magazine, It’s own customized 5.7mm munitions and it’s ultra fast rate of fire makes this the coolest “space gun” of Counter-Strike. Although its rate of fire is the biggest in CS, the recoil also can send this weapon aiming for the skies. The large 50 round clips also keeps one in the fight longer while applying pressure to those who have emptied 30 from their guns. Its horrible reload time is a setback next to the expensive price tag that comes with it.

User Performance: Learn to burst this bad boy at a distance for maximum effectiveness while sending it full auto only at close or blank range. The large clip is also useful for rushing a team when everyone is too busy reloading. Be careful not to fire unnecessary because it does empty the reserve quite easily. Keep in mind your reload is also painstaking slow so do it in a safe place.

Threat Assessment: In a one on one close range battle, the P90 will win due to overwhelming firepower. Fire accurate shots when dueling it out or take cover until they are empty. Keep a medium distance as it's recoil is quite high.

Tips: Bursts of 3-5 shots are very accurate with this weapon. To rush with it, burst fire and move in until the target is close enough to uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)go full auto. By the time your clip is emptied, your opponent should be dead and tired of running.

MAC10.jpg (22453 bytes)Real Name: Ingram MAC-10
Fake Name: Ingram MAC-10
Manufacturer: Military Armament Corporation, USA
Cost: $1,400 (Terrorists Only)
Ammo: .45 with 30 in weapon, 96 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 4
Accuracy: 2
Quietness: 3
Reload Speed: 3
Movement: 4
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: When Gordon B. Ingram first designed his M10 .45 ACP at his Powder Springs Georgia plant, little did he know that this design would be one that would captivate a number of different types of machine gun enthusiasts.  His M10, in the early 1970s, embodied the spirit of making things smaller, more compact, and less expensive.  His theories are now axioms, as the MAC has become almost notoriously known as the most reliable submachine gun ever built. Unfortunately, MAC declared bankruptcy in 1976 and went out of business.  A number of factors led to their demise, but the big reason was that little or no military interest in the weapons MAC made.

Overview: One of the more notoriously known weapons, the MAC-10 is the affordable choice next to the MP5 Navy for the usual suspects. It’s the most powerful submachine guns due to its huge .45 caliber bullets that it spits out with lightning fast pace. It’s plagued by several problems, which makes this an unpopular choice among the terrorists. For one, the price is quite high where they could spend 100 more to get a superior MP5. The accuracy is very poor and forces the user to get close to use this weapon effectively. The reload is longer than the MP5 and it only carries 96 in the reserve.

User Performance: Burst fire is the only good tactic at close range. At blank, going full auto allows the spread to pepper your target to death. Simply put, only buy this weapon if one knows that he’s going to the front lines to do some damage. Use the added mobility it provides to gain an advantage against assault rifle users… particularly in rushing and flanking targets.

Threat Assessment: Keep a distance between the MAC-10 user and yourself. The closer he is, the bigger the threat he can be. The reload time is also something to consider but be careful since he can sprint away for cover or even worst, backstab your squad.

Tips: Aim low, around the stomach should send the bullets flying to the head at close range. When at blank range, don’t stay put uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)but instead move around so the spread will hit every part in case your opponent attempts to escape. After initial purchase, fire off 7 shots and reload to have 100 rather than the 96 in your ammo reserve.

UMP.jpg (7818 bytes)Real Name: HK UMP 45
Fake Name: K&M UMP 45
Manufacturer: Heckler & Koch, Germany
Cost: $1,700
Ammo: .45 with 25 in weapon, 90 in reserve
Firepower: 4
Rate of fire: 2
Accuracy: 3
Quietness: 2
Reload Speed: 3
Movement: 4
Secondary: None
Designed Range: Close

Background: The UMP is a cost-effective, state-of-the-art submachine gun that offers users the advantages of light weight, low initial purchase and maintenance costs, uncompromising reliability, and precision accuracy with low felt recoil. The UMP45 provides the user with a magazine capacity of 25 rounds with an accurate range of 100 yards or more, well beyond that of any issue handgun or shotgun. Due to its small size (less than 18 inches with the buttstock folded) and 41/2 pound unloaded weight, the UMP is the perfect choice for use in or around vehicles. Its size and low weight also make it the ideal weapon for smaller stature officers who have difficulty handling the size, weight, and excessive felt recoil of a full size rifle or shotgun.

Overview: A light submachine gun with the power of a MAC-10 and the accuracy of a MP5 Navy? Not really. It's firepower is undisputed since it uses large .45 caliber munitions while it's accuracy makes sure those bullets hit the mark. It's drawbacks are numerous such as a horrifically slow reload, 25 rounds clip and a slow rate of fire. The price is not really cheap considering the MAC-10 is $300 less and deals a similar amount of damage.

User Performance: For those who want to deal rifle damage but couldn't afford rifle prices, the UMP 45 is what fills the void and blurs the lines between a rifle and a submachine gun. Use it to provide cover fire or the firepower advantage during an assault or rush, its accuracy can easily eliminate one target. It's reload and small magazine means that it can't take out multiple targets so keep in mind of this when rushing. It's a team weapon for a team game. It's also lighter than rifles allowing you to move into positions easier than your rifle counterparts.

Threat Assessment: Take advantage of it's small clip and slow reload and it should be another easy kill. Be careful of it's firepower and accuracy which is uncommon to most guns.

Tips: The .45 munitions can affect the ammo reserve since the USP uses the same munitions. This would be a plus if you bought bullets for the UMP but bought another primary weapon or it could be a negative if you use the UMP and USP which draws from uparrow.jpg (753 bytes)the same pool.
