Kaiser's Note :
This in my mind was the best summary I have read about what Fox cut in each episode. Although there are some biased opinions in the summaries, I totally agree with him.
Episode 3:  Terra

If you've familiarized yourself with my episode ratings under the C6...Coming Soon thread, you'll know that I was not a big fan of this particular episode, even in its original form. I thought the plot was too simple, the Cupie-doll-faced monster was too sappy, and long shots of Cybersix were drawn too often using Charlie Brown black dot button-eyes.  The fight scenes also seemed to drag on with repeated filler material framing both ends of the commercial breaks, so Fox's tightening the laces on this one couldn't do much harm in my estimation.  They shortened a few scenes, chopped another instance of Cybersix being slammed into a wall, and deleted a few psychotic lines of Jose's dialogue.  Examples: Jose ordering his Fixed Idea lackeys, "Set that building on fire! Make sure nothing survives!", and later "My beautiful fire...! Who's putting out my beautiful fire?"  (In this you may have noticed a thematic resemblance to today's Escaflowne, whose combined effect will surely spark kids' imaginations [pun intended], and send them careening down criminal lanes as giddy little pyro fiends. "OoOoo.. pUrdy FiRe...wAtcH it grRowWw..." )

Parts that didn't bore me here were Cybersix's daydreaming about the dress in the storefront display, and the mildly melancholic last act, with Cybersix weeping in the ashes of her short-lived friend's sacrifice.  (You're right, Samus, that purple energy ball was emotion absorbed from Cybersix's essence. )

Now, I had planned on closing this entry by saying, "Be comforted that next week's CYBERSIX is more revealing and has some very interesting plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat."   However, Fox is showing episode five in their previews for next Saturday, which either means that they have their business out of order (best case), or they are going to completely skip the fourth episode (worst case).  So why might Fox consider bypassing episode four altogether, you wonder?  The only reason I can surmise for such an action is that the designs of a couple of Japanese supporting characters are very caricatured, perhaps bordering on racially stereotypical.  (They have squint eyes and buck teeth -- see pictures on next page.)  Ironic, given that all of the character designs were done by the Japanese animators themselves.  And since the Japanese were okay with it, why should Fox pretend at riding a moral high horse with their own personal misgivings?
If they do end up playing episode five instead... see my episode ratings for more discouraging info.
