Among Us Crewmates

Inspiration and Ideation

During the last three months of 2020, my family started playing Among Us. In a night we affectionately named “Family Murder Night”, we’d all get together and try to kill each other. Like many others, I had some free time on my hands and made the mistake of scrolling through pinterest. Once I saw them, I knew I needed to make one for each of my family members for Murder Night.

Starting Off

My goodness the amount of yarn I needed! With 12 different character colors, I had to buy like 8 or 9 skeins of yarn to make the full set, but it was totally worth it in the end.

Creation

Individually they weren’t hard to make and didn’t take a very long time, but as a set it was so monotonous. I’d do all the bodies, then all the legs, then all the backpacks, etc. That method was helpful as I didn't need to look at the instructions all the time, it was just in my memory. Though, I have to wonder if I would have had a better experience just going from start to finish on each crewmate. I also ran into the problem of different yarn brands being different thicknesses. It made some crewmates way bigger than others!

Partially finished Crewmate Plushies

My favorite part of this project was just how excited my dad was while I made them. He loves anything family related and he thought it was hilarious that we would all have plushies of our in-game characters. He assisted me in making stands for each of the crewmates, including a fun “Suss” flag! As it was close to Christmas, we had to make a nativity scene.

End Results

It was fun to hand out each of the colors to their players, but I still wanted a few good pictures. So using my parents’ and mine, I snapped a few good ones. Can you guess who is who?
