John Richard Deacon was born on 19th August, 1951 in Oadby, Leicestershire.  His first instrument was rhythm guitar, and he then learned bass and joined his first band, the Opposition.

John left school in 1969 with eight O levels and three levels, and went on to attend Chelsea College in London, achieving two S levels in Physics and Maths, and a First Class Honours degree in Electronics.

John, or "Deacy" as he is nicknamed,  is 5' 11" tall with brown hair and green/grey eyes.  He is married with six (!!) children.  He likes to drink tea (hence the background image!), and musically, he likes a bit of everything (including the Police).
"I'm the bassist" (when asked how he saw himself within the framework of Queen)
