Quotes from "Hamlet"

From Hamlet:
       -"I am but mad north-north-west. When the wind is southerly."   AHmlet is saying that he is only crazy at certain times.  He is crazy when it is to his advantage.
       -"Follow that Lord- and look you mock him not."  Hamlet is telling one of the players not to mock the king.  He doesn't want the King to become suspicious of what is happening.

From Ophelia:
       -"No my good Lord but; but as you did command, I did repel his letters and denied his access to me."  Ophelia is speaking to Polonius and defending herself.  She is telling him that did she did follow his orders not to see Hamlet.
       -"that done, he lets me go, and with his head over his shoulder turned, He seemed to find his way to the window without his eyes."  Ophelis is talking to Poloniu about her visit from Hamlet.  This is telling you that Hamlet couldn't take his eyes off her.

From Claudius:
       -"Thyself do grace to them, bring them in,"  Claudius is talking to Polonius about the ambassadors.  He wants them to be let in so they can talk.

From Gertrude:
      -"And sure I am two men there are not living, to whom he more adheres.  If it will please you to show us much gentry and good will."  Gertrude is speaking to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern about Hamlet.  She believes he really appreciates them and repects them.  So, she wants them to stay and talk to Hamlet.
       -"more matter, with less art."  Gertrude is speaking to Polonoius about Hamlet.  She is elling him that some of Hamlets body labguage is acting.  He made himself seem more upset then he really is.

From Polonius:
       -"I mean the matter that you read, my Lord."  Polonius is speaking to Hamlet in the library.  Hamlet has just made Polonius feel kind of dumb.  And, Polonius isn't sure how to respond.

From Guildenstern:
       -"Heavens make our presence and our practices pleasent and helpful to him."  Guildenstern wants to God to help him help Hamlet.  But, he also says he is being sneaky and going behind someone's back.  He knows what he is doing isn't right.
       -"Happy in that we are not overhappy."  He is telling hamlet he is just o.k.  But, he is also clueing Hamlet in that something is going on.
