| undoubtly, this fish has a prominently wild look and is definitely the preferred strain for most purists. the breeding of the Heckel is complex and as much as the genetics of the discus has not been studied in a deeper context, breeding and raising the heckel has since been left most often as a myth amongst even the most professional of breeders. i acquired several specimens from various sources, and also a particularly stunning piece with quite complex genes as identified from the phenotype of the fish and am currently working on improving the strain -a task proven daunting even to professional breeders alike who have dabbled with the heckel. as for the heckel cross that i'm working on.. will describe more of it when i've fixed the new strain! =) |
