I was inspired by Dervla Murphy's Full Tilt and living in Pakistan a few years earlier wishing to return overland. An unforgettable year with a lifetime's worth of experiences. It was wonderful to see the gradual change from Europe to Asia. We seldom see the subtle change today as long-haul flights take us in hours from one culture, climate and geography to the next.

Steph decided to join me after I'd suggested she may as well cycle with me to India since she was going there anyway. A couple of weeks after this light-hearted offer, she called and said she wanted to come much to my surprise and delight.
