**My thoughts on passing**
When a transgender person is low in self-confidence, that person tries to make other people think that he really is a woman so that the question of doing something he considers 'strange' does not come up. On the other hand, one with more self-confidence doesn't care what other people think because (s)he knows that (s)he is not doing anything wrong. In this case the question of passing doesn't fall on the transgender person but the other person; if they see a crossdresser but treat her with dignity because that is how (s)he is behaving, then THEY pass!
I am in the second category (the higher self-confidence) and would like for all transgendered people to be like that. On the other hand, I realize that it can take a while to get there. Where you are (physically) can also be a factor in that.
