The show...

David's cabaret, Affirmation, was presented as the second half of this programme and included six musical numbers: "The First Time It Happens", "The One I'll Always Carry in My Heart", "I Love You", "I Guess This is Goodbye", "Where Do I Go?" and "Find the Rainbow".

The press...

"As proven in his many past outings in PE theatre as performer and scriptwriter, David Fick has a definite ability with words, and shows huge promise as a songwriter.... His six original songs that stud this cabaret (notably 'The First Time It Happens' and 'Find the Rainbow')... show off his prowess with effective rhyming and cadence in the ballad form." Bob Eveleigh, The Herald.

"The second half sees guest artist David Fick present some true blue solo cabaret introspections as he relates in his on words and six haunting melodies the heartache and joy of a young romance under the title Affirmation. Fick has a soft but dynamic stage presence and he keeps his audience in the palm of his hand as he launches into 'The First Time It Happens' - investing the song with a rich voice and beautifully measured cadence. He follows with some soul-searching ballads like 'I Guess This is Goodbye" before ending on a soaring note with 'Find the Rainbow'." Brett Adkins, Weekend Post.

"Affirmation bied 'n spitsvondige teks en oorspronklike liedjies deur Fick. Hy begelei homself, tekenend van sy vele talente.... Die eiesoortige sieninge oor die uitdagings van die lewe wat in Affirmation na vore kom, is snaaks én hartseer en is, inderdaad, soos Fick dit beskryf, 'n bittersoet tragikomedie oor die lewe." Cindy Preller, Die Burger.
