               N E W S  about Jackson Mini-Reunion

From the Association Historian

DeLoyd Cooper

Dear friends,

Our mini-reunion in Jackson, Tennessee November 8-9, 2002 brought together twenty-one of our comrades,  seventeen wives, and seven other family members ~ the grand total was 43 folks. Even tornados in the Jackson area, Saturday night could not dampen the 275th spirit and the joy of reuniting with our veteran friends, of the Valiant 275th Armored Field Artillery on this Veterans Day weekend.

At the Jackson, Tennessee reunion, we were happy to meet the son and daughter of Lt. Neil Clark from El Dorado, Arkansas. Lt. Clark won the Silver Star for his actions Dec. 16, 1944 with the 275th AFA Bn, a date that we all will remember vividly. Mike Clark and his sister Kathi Wong seemed to enjoy meeting their father’s comrades. We hope that they will feel welcome at future reunions.

Recently their sister, Genna Morrow has been in touch with us and has shared news clippings and the photo of their father, Neil and their mother June Clark, taken about 1942. Click the photo below, to see the portrait she sent to us of her parents.

Contacting us, also, by email, Jim Price has shown great interest in our web site and the Battalion's history. Jim has sent us several of his father's war-time photos. To see them as well as Ray Edward's photos, click on James Price's photo. »

The reunion in Jackson TN, November 8th and 9th 2002 was a festive affair. Our host and hostess, Kenneth and Ruth Stevens were very thoughtful and gracious. The facilities were very nice, the food delicious and the fellowship was great. Everyone is grateful to Ken and Ruth for the fine job they did in organizing the reunion.

Sunday morning, Nov. 10, veterans and their families reluctantly said their farewells to begin their return trip home to all over Tennessee, to Illinois, Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Plans are already being made for another reunion at the same time next year.

Departed Friends

Sadly, we have recently updated the list of our departed veterans. Please let us know, if there are other changes that need to be made.

Please let Bob Schnulle or DeLoyd Cooper know, if you should hear
that a member or the wife of a member has died.
We will try to keep everybody informed.

We wish to extend a very special invitation to our Veteran’s children and grand children who discover this website to contact us to share the memories of their 275th veteran parents and grandparents.

The most recent family to discover our web site is the family of Lt. Neil Clark, four of whom attended our Jackson mini-reunion. One of whom flew in from California.
