The Impression Pad is made from clear flexible vinyl and contains a moldable putty. It's extremely easy to use, we place it on your horse's back, do up the saddle and go for a ride... that's it! When you remove the saddle, we will have an exact impression of how that saddle fits that horse, with that rider.
The time required to create an impression varies with the temperature of the Equi-Dough and the weight of the rider as well as how poorly the saddle fits.
Generally, a 30 minute ride is all that is required. It is important that you walk, trot and canter in both directions.
Dismount and remove your saddle. You now have an exact impression of the pressure your saddle exerts upon your horse while you are riding.
Ideally the Equi-Dough will be evenly displaced under the length of the two saddle panels (bars). Look at the impression taken from this saddle fitting. You can see the impression the saddle has left.
As the pad is removed you can clearing see the areas where the Equi-Dough has been com-pletely displaced. These are where the extreme pressure points are.
The Impression Pad can be used over again by simply leveling out the Equi-dough with a (baker's) rolling pin. We can then construct a "Custom Saddle Pad" using the CORRECTION PANELS & CORRECTION PADS.
We then place the CORRECTION PAD between the saddle and the Impression Pad and have the horse riden again to make sure that all the pressure points have been removed.
A correctly fitted saddle... puts you in Proper Position and provides the horse Optimum Comfort.
NOTE: There are some saddle fitting problems that a pad can NOT correct. The Impression Pad will also show those more serious issues.
