History: The Phoenix force first known recorded appearance on Earth was when it replaced
Jean Grey when she was returning from space. She became a member of the X-Men until
Mastermind tampered with her mind and was recruited into the Hellfire Club as the Black
Queen. She broke free of the control and became the Dark Phoenix. As the Dark Phoenix, she
posed a threat to the galaxy and was hunted by the Sh'iar. She seemingly committed
suicide, leaving her physical form of Jean Grey. The Phoenix force later inhibits Jean
Grey's daughter, Rachel Summers, who became the new Phoenix.
