- FLOATING VILLAGE
The " floating " village of Barangay Day-asan is a unique and
interesting sight to experience, with the village houses erected
on wooden stilts and bedded rocks and people commuting paddle boats
through waterways. A boat ride around the village is indeed an
enriching experience and a look into these people whose lifestyle
have made their village earned the monicker of being the Venice
of Surigao. The village is accessible by land or sea in about
30 minutes from the city.
- MANJAGAO MANGROVE FOREST
The cradle of marine life and sanctuary of various species of
fish, the mangrove forest is one of nature's most interesting habital.
A boat ride along the naturally-carved water channels amidst the
jade-colored lush of mangrove trees and the visible rich coral
undergrowth, is an island tropical treat one rarely experience.
- SAGISI ISLAND
A tropical island paradise of white sand beach, deep blue sea
waters and shades from loftly coconut tress. Sagisi offers the perfect
hideaway to enjoy the sun, the sand and the sea. The island's coral
reef teeming with lushly preserved marine life also provides
enthusiasts one of the excellent diving sites ever known in the
Philippines. Sagisi is accessible by boat in about one (1) hour
from the city proper.
- ANTIASAY SAN PEDRO BRIDGE
Surigao's version of the famous San Juanico Bridge, this wooden
\footbridge is one of the country's longest at 391 meters. Originally
conceived to ease movement and communication between Sibale and Nonoc
Island, the bridge through time has transformed itself into a resting and
promenade area, giving one the exhilirating experience and thrill of
crossing two islands on foot. While crossing the bridge, one can
feel the cool sea breeze and at the same time view the clear seawater
and corals.
- LISONDRA ROCK FORMATION
Rock islet best defined by the ranges of its unique, natural
rock formations, solidly and concretely enhances by the different
variations and contrasts of its colors and shades. Opposite is another
isolated vase-like rock formation complementing this somewhat
mysterious creation of nature, which was a historical burial
ground of the early inhabitants of the surrounding islands. The
rock formation is 40 minutes by boat from the city proper.
- PUNTA BALUARTE
A historical landmark which was used as observatory point by the
Spanish Friars and later by the Japanese during the second World War.
It is a hill overlooking the town and the surrounding waters and
islands, which to date is simply marked by a maroon castle replica.
Complementing the landmark is the brightly colored kiosks along the
beach which provide an ideal picnic and resting area. Punta Baluarte
is in Barangay San Jose, about one (1) by pumpboat from the city
proper.
- BUENAVISTA CAVE
Location: Brgy. Buenavista
Huge stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones,
columns, and curtains are the artistic formations of
Buenavista Cave. A king�s throne-like formation in a
castle-like chambers is the amazing feature of the
cave. A knee-deep pond with awesome silhouettes of
stalagmites and stalactites can also be found.
- WHIRLPOOL
Location: Brgy. Bitaugan
Bituagan is where one can witness the roaring
power of the sea called �whirlpool�. The current that
creates the whirlpool is so strong that the area is
considered a danger zone to seafarers. The whirlpool
is a scenic beauty to behold with its enthralling
spinning water.
- BASUL ISLAND
Location: Brgy. Bitaugan
It is the nearest islet from Surigao City
characterized by fine white sand on one side and rugged
rocky shore on the other side. It can be reached by
motorized pumpboat in 30 minutes from the city port.
- PUNTA CALABERA
Location: Brgy. Catadman
A large rock formation resembling a human skull
possibly formed by the constant splashing of the waves.
- ROCK FORMATION
Location: Brgy. Lisondra
It is exquisitely carved with unique rock
formations and is known as the burial ground by its
early inhabitants. It is accessible by pump boat in 10
minutes from Surigao City proper.
- DINAYHUGAN BEACH
Location: Brgy. Nonoc
Rich with marine resources, Dinayhugan Beach is
ideal for swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving.
- MIWA BEACH
The beach with its gray, fine sand offers a
beautiful view of the sunset. It is situated within
the city and can be reached by a tricycle in less than
20 minutes.
- PEBBLE BEACH
location: Brgy. Mabua
A rocky beach with clear waters, ideal for
snorkelling and swimming while its deep waters is for
gamefishing. It is 12 kms. Northwest of Surigao City.
It is accessible by car. jeepneys, motorcyles in just a
few minutes from the city proper.
- MANGROVE AREAS
Location: Manjagao
Jade-colored mangroves are abundant in the narrow
channels of Barangay Manjagao. While there, one can
also go for boating, snorkelling, and collecting shells
and other marine life.
- MAPAWA CAVE
Location: Brgy. Mapawa
It is a 30-minutes trek from Brgy. Mapawa Proper.
Its attractions are the small entrances leading to the
big chambers.
- MULTI-CAVES
Location: Brgy. Silop
A unique cave with 12 entrances. One of its
passages has a cool, crystal spring water. It is
artistically carved with stalagmites, stalactites, and
columns. It is approximately 7 kms. from the city
proper. It is accessible by jeepney, cars, and a
single motorcycle.
- ZARAGOZA'S ROCK FORMATION
On the way to Zaragoza Island, one can be
mesmerized with the various rock formations. And
beside those sleeping dagger-shaped rocks are the thick
corral reef with. It is really one of the best spots
for snorkelling and scuba diving.
- HOT SPRING
location: Brgy. Trinidad
A kilometer trek from National Highway. It is
ideal for swimming and has a therapeutic effect.
- BUYHO WATERFALLS
Location: Brgy. San Jose
A cascading 70 ft. waterfalls which is 15 meters
away from the barangay proper. It can be reached by a
paddle boat or motorized boat in 5-10 minutes.
- SUKAILANG WATERFALLS
Location: Brgy. Sukailang
A cascading 50 ft. waterfalls which is 20 meters
away from the barangay proper. It can be reached by a
tricycle is 30 minutes.
