Meercroft Fair
12 NOVEMBER, Merecroft Home for the Aged

The City of Devonport provided musical entertainment for both young & old, and played a variety of pieces including Standard of St. George & Invicta marches, The Floral Dance, and our favourite jazz / blues numbers.

TBL State Band Championships
16 OCTOBER, Latrobe Town Hall

The City of Devonport Brass band performed well, competing in D Grade at the State Championships held in historic Latrobe.

Instrument Cleaning Working Bee
24 SEPTEMBER, Devonport Bandroom

In preparation for the State Championships, a working bee was held to clean the band's instruments. The junior players learnt valuable maintenance tips from the more senior players as they washed, oiled and polished their instruments. Everyone also had the opportunity to test out their clean instruments with the band rehearsal that followed.

Devonport Eisteddfod
20 & 27 AUGUST, Devonport Entertainment & Convention Centre

The City of Devonport Brass band opened the Devonport Eisteddfod with a variety of jazz / blues pieces as well as the march Invicta.

HISTORY OF AVIATION - THE DARK SIDE
Well done to the whole band with the performance of our aeronautical-themed Entertainment piece at the City of Devonport Eisteddfod 2005, coming 3rd. We treated the audience with a somewhat twisted story of the Wright-Half-Wrong Brothers playing various numbers including Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines, Snoopy VS The Red Baron, and Star Wars theme.

A huge thanks to Martin Ter Wee for his musical arrangements, sound effects & props; to Dianne Pickett, Miriam Ter Wee (aka Snoopy), Thomas Hendrey, Hannah Rowlands and Diana Howard for their performances; and to Grianne Hendrey for her narration. Many thanks to everyone else, including our Death March Learners, who helped make our performance fun and entertaining.

60th Anniversary of Victory in Europe & Pacific
14 AUGUST, St. John's Anglican Church

The City of Devonport Brass combined with the Latrobe Federal Band to celebrate this occasion. Various pieces were played: Trumpet Voluntary by a Latrobe ensemble during the flag procession; hymns including Abide with Me, Now Thank We All Our God and God of Our Fathers (sung by Shane Wolf); the Last Post during the RSL service; and The Dam Busters at the conclusion of the service.

Devonport Jazz Festival
30 JULY, Devonport Mall

The City of Devonport Brass band wore yellow scarves and played various jazz / blues pieces including Dixie Doodle Rag, Boogie on the Bandstand, Sweet Gingerbread Man, and Tuxedo Junction.

Presentations Night
28 JUNE, City of Devonport Brass Bandrooms

The Learners started the evening off by playing a few well-known tunes, and were then presented with Encouragement Certificates for their efforts. The City of Devonport Brass band then treated the audience with various pieces including the march Invicta, and the first movement of our Own Choice for the upcoming State Championships, Cassation.
