Thumbprint Cookies




Ingredients for cooking Thumbprint Cookies
� cup of "Crisco' vegetable shortening 1 stick of butter (melted) � cup of sugar 2� cups of All-Purpose flower 1 teaspoon of almond extract Pinch of salt Sprinkles Procedure for cooking Thumbprint Cookies: - Mix ingredients with you hands in a large bowl. - Roll the mix between your hands to form balls of approximately 1" diameter. - Flatten the balls to a 2" circle with the palm of your hand. - Place cookies on a cookie sheet and spread them apart. - With your thumb, make a depression in the center of each cookie. - Fill depression with a generous amount of sprinkles. - Preheat oven at 350� F. - Place cookie sheet with cookies in oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cookies are lightly browned. - Remove cookie sheet from oven and let the cookies cool down. It will help if you use two cookie sheets: one for the cookies inside the oven and the other one for the next set of cookies that is going to be place in the oven. Note: You can substitute the sprinkles with any kind of jelly or chocolate chips.
