Many times in rescue we get dogs who are old, sick and unadoptable. Many are blind and deaf . Andy was just such a boy.
We didn't know how old Andy was or whether at one time he had a loving family as he was picked up as a stray. That didn't matter. On May 15, 2003, Andy came to live with Trish and Nationwide in permanent foster care. He had surgery once to remove a nasty cancer from his leg and had a wonderful life eating, sleeping and getting a nightly massage from Trish. His quality of life was good and he was warm, well fed and well loved by all of us. As time progressed, Andy got more and more tumors on his body but until today was in no pain.
Today it was time to let little Andy go to the Rainbow Bridge and Trish and I stayed with him as he ended this journey and started his next adventure where he could play in the fields, see and hear again and eat all the wieners he could eat.
Thanks Trish for being such a wonderful Mom to Andy. Without your love and care he would not have had as many good months as he had.
Goodbye sweet Andy, you will be missed and left a paw print on the heart of everyone who was privileged to know you.  You are our newest shining star in the heavens.
Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me - but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone.
Its all a part of the Master plan, A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart, Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me - but let me go.
